To address today’s needs and prepare for the future, networking and communications solutions need to provide increased capacity and speed to deliver advanced services, while enhancing security and reducing operational costs

The demand for wired and wireless bandwidth and innovative bandwidth-intensive services is soaring and putting today’s networks under incredible strain. High-definition video, real-time collaboration, and multimedia web applications are becoming increasingly important to mission success in diverse areas such as battlefield medicine, surveillance, teleconferencing, and motor pool training. Advances in research applications and the evolution to Cloud-based networking are adding increased bandwidth pressure on existing networks.

Government and commercial agencies must meet the growing need for a high quality experience and seamless, always-on access to multimedia services across every type of device, while realizing efficiencies and cost-savings across all areas.implementing microwave technology is efficient and addresses the needs of both current and future networks.

Improving Network Efficiency with Next-Generation High-Speed Solutions Through the modernization of telecommunications infrastructure, government and commercial organizations are seeking solutions that will integrate next-generation voice and multimedia services with existing mission-centric solutions. Next-generation services allow users to experience voice and data convergence, collaboration, and mobility while preserving the Quality of Experience (QoE) for end users, resulting in a more efficient workforce.

LGS Innovations brings a unique understanding of core and edge communications networking technology that helps customers to seamlessly connect to the Cloud and other networks, while optimizing their own networks to deliver the applications and services that best meet mission requirements. Our comprehensive portfolio of transformation products and services significantly decreases risk and accelerates the evolution to next-generation high-speed networking.

The High Leverage Network (HLN) HLN focuses on the transformation to an all-IP network that enables the delivery of new services, while increasing capacity and reducing costs. HLNs enable continuously scalable bandwidth at the lowest cost-per-bit while simultaneously building in the network intelligence to create and deliver new, real-time multimedia

services. The improved HLN Web experience is secure, reliable, and collaborative, and provides a high level of QoE over any device, anywhere, anytime. HLNs provide multiple network and communications benefits, including high bandwidth, scalability and elasticity, reliability and resilience, cost effectiveness, eco-sustainability, multiservice capability, openness and interoperability, intelligence, and security and privacy.

Application Enablement (AE) AE is a key feature of the HLN that breaks down the traditional coupling between the application and networking layers of the stack. By allowing the built-in intelligence from both layers to work together to do things neither layer can do on its own, the network can optimize the delivery of applications and dynamically meet the needs of different traffic types such as voice, business and multimedia applications, and video. Bandwidth, capacity, and reach are provided where and when they are needed to support seamless delivery of applications and services without interruption.

100G Networking Higher bandwidth technologies that support 100G (100 gigabits per second) network capacity ease strain on networks and maintain superior performance—avoiding potentially disastrous service bottlenecks. LGS Innovations’ parent company, Alcatel-Lucent, is the only supplier to offer deployable 100G solutions in both the IP and optics domains. Features and benefits include higher integration and longer transmission reach; lower network complexity, operational costs, and power consumption; and unprecedented compatibility with lower-speed transport

infrastructures (such as 10G and 40G).

The evolution to next-generation high- speed networking solutions is primarily driven and enabled by: » The need to control costs in the network

core and efficiently handle local traffic via a more distributed network

» The strategic transition to a predominantly IP infrastructure with ubiquitous availability of cost-efficient IP transport

» The rapid maturity of the legacy platforms with issues of support, maintenance, and new feature development

» The rise of the service router, bringing attributes such as high availability, service-aware management, and QoS to previously unattainable levels

Application Enablement (AE) consists of four key elements that allow users to find, connect, and interact with content needed to execute their missions—when, where, and how they want it: » Broadband, for access wherever the user

needs it » Optics for speed and low-cost bit

transport » IP, for improved service awareness and

programmability » Applications enablers and shared

resources across all applications

Cybersecurity LGS Innovations has a robust security product portfolio that delivers security from within the network, protecting networks, people, processes, and knowledge. Offerings include perimeter security, embedded security, application security, network access control, security management, and identity management. These solutions:

» Manage risk by providing protection from more sophisticated threats, » Protect data shared between third parties and stored within the Cloud, while minimizing data breaches, » Control costs by removing any security-imposed productivity barriers, while respecting constrained

budgets and existing infrastructure investments.

7342 Intelligent Services Access Manager Fiber-to-the- User system The 7342 ISAM FTTU system is an all IP-based platform based on FSAN standards, providing voice, video, and data communications over one fiber strand. Its Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) implementation is unmatched in features: 2.5 Gb/s bandwidth, 20 km reach, and the most robust QoS for delivery of voice, video, and data services. The 7342 ISAM FTTU integrates smoothly with legacy voice and Radio Frequency (RF) video networks, supports next-generation services such as IPTV and VoIP, and offers true gigabit download speeds.

Metro WDM Optical Products Metro Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) systems are designed for access, metro, and regional optical networking applications.

1830 Photonic Service Switch: a multi-reach photonic platform, providing the first commercially available support for best-in-class, single carrier 100G Next-Generation Coherent technology.

1692 Metrospan Edge (Metro CWDM System): meets the growing organizational and data networking needs for cost-effective, scalable networks; provides a managed platform supporting different services; suitable for applications in diversified network topologies.

1694 Enhanced Optical Networking: a cost-effective, highly scalable DWDM system for access, metro, or regional rings that affordably expands metro network capabilities without adding redundant fiber optic cable. It is a 32-wavelength system designed to deliver up to 320 Gbps protected capacity over a single strand of fiber.

1696 Metrospan (Metro WDM): a versatile metropolitan WDM platform easily customized for non-amplified systems used for intra-city networks and amplified systems used for metro and regional networks. It is compact, scalable up to 32 channels, and can be installed in any environment, from a central office to a basement closet.
