BUSINESS OVERVIEW

Northern Haulage & Diesel Services (NHDS) is an award winning

Earthmoving and Labour Hire Contractor. This family owned operation,

established in 2009, is 100% indigenous owned and managed.

NHDS supply heavy equipment machinery and experienced personnel for

projects in both the mining and civil sectors. Rio Tinto is one of their clients.

NHDS have a fully equipped Heavy Equipment Maintenance Workshop.

This worshop maintains equipment to OEM specifications and effects a

continuous improvement maintenance program. Our qualified Diesel Fitters

perform well adapted maintenance procedures to help reduce the risk of

breakdowns onsite. We operate as an exclusive stockist for multi‐national

hydraulic hose specialist, Hydraulink, and their qualified Hydraulic Hose Field

Specialist is on‐call to respond to emergency hose repairs. Mechanical

services are available to the general public as well as servicing and repairs

for light vehicles.

In 2017, Viva Energy awarded a 3 year, multi‐million dollar, diesel road

freight contract to Weipa Bulk Fuels ‐ a joint venture between NHDS and

Cambridge Gulf Limited. Weipa Bulk Fuels operates from its Weipa base.

We supply labour hire for Bechtel to the Amrun Project, south of the

Embley River. There is ongoing demand for labour hire of general services,

especially Fitter hire, along with the expectation of an increase of staff to the

40 already employed there.

NHDS also supply, deliver and maintain power generators and serve as a

depot for Aggreko Australia Pacific.

Our commitment to Occupational Health and Safety standards is a driving

force in our day‐to‐day operations. With this in mind, all of our employees

undergo inductions, drug and alcohol testing and are trained to properly

manage their exposure to risk and their responsibilities towards others.

Having established strong business partnerships with Rio Tinto and other

major corporations including Boral, Toll and Wallis Drilling, as well as local

Councils in the Cape York region, our innovative team are well placed to move

quickly in securing future contract opportunities.

MAINTENANCE AND SERVICING

Northern Haulage & Diesel Services Workshop Management and staff have extensive experience and a

diversified skill‐set and have the ability to perform, co‐ordinate and forecast the servicing and inspection needs

on all equipment. Their experienced heavy diesel fitting tradespeople carry capabilities in providing breakdown,

problem solving and repairs for all Types of machinery and equipment as listed below.

PROPRIETARY PRODUCTS AND SERVICES Fuel Program (2017): Weipa Bulk Fuels is a new entity that has been incorporated through a joint

venture arrangement between Northern Haulage & Diesel Services and Cambridge Gulf Limited. Viva

Energy awarded this contract to Weipa Bulk Fuels for fuel delivery in the Cape York region.

Amrun General Services Contract (2017): Since July 2017, Rio Tinto awarded NHDS the General

Services Contract for the Amrun project. Our labour hire cover all general services for the mine site

including cleaning, maintenance, labourers, groundsman and gardeners. With the NHDS presence

growing, we have been sought after to supply qualified and experienced crane operators, riggers,

dogman and HR drivers for onsite work. Potentially, there also may be a need for NHDS to supply

Concreters, Carpenters and other Machinery Operators, with a view to targeting Traditional Owners

and local indigenous persons for this type of employment. WCCCA also endorses NHDS as a premier

indigenous business. This Agreement fosters close liaisons with Traditional Owners and Rio Tinto

which are critical for ongoing business and community relationships.

Hydraulink: NHDS are the only indigenous contractor in the Cape York region who provide a hydraulic

hose and fitting solution. We are an exclusive stockist for hydraulink parts and supplies.

In‐House Training Model: NHDS mentors individuals to overcome challenges of integrating work, life

and cultural obligations and empower staff to confidently formulate their own career paths.

Native Seeds Collections Program: NHDS support programs for continued research and rehabilitation

of mined resources. Our Seed team collect and research native plant species and seeds in the Cape

York area with heavy involvement of community members from our local indigenous communities.

INNOVATIONS Mobile Lighting Plant Improvement Handle

A custom‐built tool designed and fabricated for our Mobile Lighting Plant (pictured). NHDS won the

"Contractor Innovation Award" category during the Rio Tinto HSE Innovations Awards Ceremony held in

October 2015. These awards recognise the ingenuity behind these designs and the value we place on Health

and Safety improvements in the workplace.

Native Seeds Collections Program

Seeds that are native to the Cape York region must be distributed so that, through re‐vegation, a mined

area can return, as closely as possible, to its original condition. NHDS have partnered with Rio Tinto Alcan

to ensure that an appropriate schedule of seed collection is in place and the methodology used can produce

appropriate and viable seed.

As part of this program, NHDS supports more than seventy local Indigenous people who collect the seeds

that are, not only very specific to particular areas, but carry cultural significance to the community. For this

reason, NHDS have chosen members of the eleven Traditional Owner groups to collect the correct seeds.

This minimises the risk of incorrect revegetation for that particular area. This program also empowers local

community members with employment, helps them to actively participate in environmental sustainability

for their traditional land areas and protect their cultural heritage.

the ability to source highly skilled operators and tradespeople, as needed, to complete specified works for our customers.

Preferred Value of Work per Job

NHDS preferred contracts are between $150,000 and $5m, however, no job is too small with NHDS also delivering on smaller sized projects for clients.

Mining exploration and civil industry within Far North Queensland working with major companies including Rio Tinto, Boral, Viva Energy, Toll, Bechtel, Wallis Drilling, and Aggreko. Local Community Councils across the Cape York region are included and the general public throughout the Western Cape and the Northern Peninsula.

INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS Health & Safety Management System

Northern Haulage & Diesel Services are committed to creating and maintaining a safe and

healthy working environment. Our Health & Safety Management is supported by a third party HSE

Provider and we utilise the Mango HSE Integrated software and it’s framework to ensure compliance,

to prevent risk and harm and continuously improve our approach to safety. Our safety documentation

is published in Mango and available internally on our HSEM Sharepoint site.

Quality System

Northern Haulage & Diesel Services are committed to our clients by providing them services,

support and equipment that meets and exceeds their needs. We understand and are committed to

implementing, improving and maintaining conformity in how we deliver our services, and this is achieved

through our integrated process and systems using the Mango HSE Integrated System and it’s

framework.

Environment Management System

Northern Haulage & Diesel Services have

implemented an environmental policy that aims to cover

environmental concerns and impacts, as defined in

Environment Protection Act 1994. This includes

environmental protection, waste management, recycling,

energy conservation, heritage protection and

aestheticism. ISO 14000 standards and policies have been

used as guiding tools for policy development. Our

environmental policy and related documentation and

critical contacts for any environmental impacts are also

published electronically on our intranet.

Northern Haulage & Diesel Services deliver products and services effectively and achieve the

required KPIs set by our clients and customers. They comply with their own business processes and systems

with a view to attain ISO standards.

They’ve created their own website (www.nhds.net.au) and are visible in the social media market which

provides ongoing interactions and feedback with customers about their operations.

They have also successfully developed a custom‐built tool that has already improved health & safety in

the workplace (please refer to “Mobile Lighting Plant Improvement Handle” for more information).

NHDS have built strong partnerships and a strong reputation within the Cape York region. They are

continually building capacity and resources with qualified and trained personnel to suit business needs.

INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS (cont.) Risk Management Approach

Northern Haulage & Diesel Services carefully prepare and monitor risk management plans and

strategies for each individual project. They have a Health & Safety Management system where our teams

are trained to prepare, identify, manage and control risk by implementing systems such as Safe Work

Procedures, Safe Work Instructions, Job Safety & Environmental Analysis, Hazard Surveys and Control

Practices. These are performed before a task is undertaken. Our Heavy Equipment is also monitored

under a Scheduled Maintenance Program where machines are serviced to OEM specifications.
