Things are a little wild around here this month, but in the best possible way. Our ninth season of Windows to the Wild premieres October 2nd, and it’s the start of a particularly interesting (and entertaining – as anything Will Lange is involved in is bound to be!) season. Will and our ace, athletic Emmy award-winning producers Phil Vaughn and videographer Steve Giordani cover a lot of ground in the next 10 episodes, from the peak of Mount Greylock to Smarts Mountain, to Cape Ann to Devil’s Gulch, Vermont, to Maine’s 100-Mile Woods. It’s not just the expeditions that make these programs so memorable — it’s who they hike with, and the impact that their adventures have on you, our viewers. We hope you find NHPTV programs like Windows to the Wild and Granite State Challenge inspiring, as well as our entire PBS line-up. Experience the full breadth of NHPTV’s programs on our NHPTV PRIME, NHPTV EXPLORE, World, Create, and Kids channels. Thanks for your ongoing support…and happy trails in all that you do this fall. AMERICAN EXPERIENCEWar Of The Worlds

On Sunday, October 30, 1938, the night before Halloween, millions of Americans gathered around their radios and heard a news bulletin about strange explosions on Mars, followed by other reports that led them to believe an alien invasion was in progress. Relive the thrill of Orson Welles’ infamous radio dramatization of War of the Worlds, 75 years after it set off one of the biggest mass hysteria events in U.S. history. The film examines the elements that made America ripe for the hoax and wonders could such an event happen again? October 29 • 9 PM on NHPTV PRIME

NHPTV Is On-Air • Online • In Your CommunityFRONTLINELeague Of Denial: The NFL’s Concussion CrisisThe National Football League, a multibillion-dollar

commercial juggernaut, presides over America’s indisputable national pastime. But the NFL is under assault as thousands of former players and a host of scientists claim the league has covered up how football inflicted long-term brain injuries on many players. In a special investigation,

Frontline joins prize-winning journalists Steve Fainaru and Mark Fainaru-Wada to reveal the hidden story of the NFL and brain injuries, drawn from their forthcoming book League of Denial. What did the NFL know

and when did it know it? What’s the truth about the risks to players? What can be done? The Frontline investigation details how, for years, the league denied and worked to refute scientific evidence that the violent collisions at the heart of the game are linked to an alarming incidence of early onset dementia, catastrophic brain damage, death, and other devastating consequences for some of football’s all-time greats.
