Niagara (9-13-7) at Robert Morris (16-8-2); Robert Morris at Niagara Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 / RMU Island Sports Center - Pittsburgh, Pa. / 7:05 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012 / Dwyer Arena - Niagara University, N.Y. / 5:00 p.m. Series at a Glance Overall: 7-14-5 At Home: 5-6-2 At Niagara: 2-8-3 Neutral: 0-0-0 Top Story RMU returns to the ice against Niagara after claiming its first-ever CHA road sweep last weekend against Syracuse. The Colonials enter the weekend just one point behind defending conference cham- pion Mercyhurst for first place. Rebecca Vint broke the Colonials’ single-season points record last Friday against the Orange and needs one score to break the top mark for goals in a season. Series vs. Niagara In these two teams’ last meeting, RMU assistant captain Brianna Delaney drilled home a wrist shot from point-blank range with just 6:02 remaining in regulation to break a scoreless draw and lift the Co- lonials to a 1-0 triumph Jan. 28. The score also represented Delaney’s eighth-career game-winning goal, which nudged her into a tie for all-time GWG at Robert Morris. Her tally was assisted by Katie Fergus and Maddie Collias as the latter started a four-game point streak with the helper. Kristen DiCiocco notched her third shutout of the season and held the Purple Eagles scoreless on the power play for the duration of the series. RMU has outshot Niagara in four of the past five games between the squads. Scouting Niagara Niagara is coming off a thrilling, comeback effort against nationally-ranked Mercyhurst on the road. Kristen Richards tallied the game-tying goal for the Purple Eagles with just eight seconds remaining in regulation to steal a point away from the defending conference champions. Niagara trailed 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 and also was forced to kill off a Mercyhurst power play in overtime to preserve the tie. Niagara, which is playing its final regular-season road game tonight, is also led by a first-year head coach as Josh Sciba took over the program prior to the 2011-12 season. The Purple Eagles sport the best penalty kill in the CHA, having successfully killed off 30 of their opponents’ last 34 power-play chances, and also have compiled a 7-4-1 record in one-goal games this season. Eight different Purple Eagles have hit double digits in points thus far as Jessica Hitchcock leads the team in both goals (12) and points (19). Jenna Hendrikx and Kaleigh Chippy follow in second and third with 17 and 16 points, respectively. Sarah Moses and Abby Ryplanski have split time in net, starting 15 and 14 contests, respectively. 2011-12 WOMEN’S ICE HOCKEY SCHEDULE Date Opponent Time SEPT. 23 (Fri.) PENN STATE (Exh.)
