Wear the first set for 2 weeks. The second set for 2 weeks. Repeat the cycle each month.

The next one, Aligner 2. And ... well you get the

Aligner time.

This is a big moment. It’s the start of a smile you’ll love for a lifetime. Gently push your aligners over your front teeth. Then apply equal pressure, using your fingertips to fit them to your back teeth. They should snap into place. Chew on your Chewies until the aligners feel properly seated.

How do they fit?

It’s okay if they’re tight. They’re aligning your teeth. If you still have questions, the answers may be on the next pages. If not, your dental team is standing by to help, any time you need us.

Call a SmileExpert (a real, live human) at 800-632-1350? :)

Check in your aligners.

If your aligners fit, go online and check them in. This way you’ll get convenient reminders when it’s time to change to a new set.

Things you may be wondering about.

Jagged edges? Give us a call. We have some simple solutions for you.

My aligners are cutting into my gums.

First check that you have the right aligners on. Because your teeth are moving, there might be minor differences between the new aligners and your current tooth position. Also, as you approach the end of each step, you may feel that your aligners are looser. This is normal. Use your Chewies to help seat them in place.

They feel too loose.

M Y A L I G N E R S A N D M E

Can I wear my aligners for 5 hours at a time for a total of 10 hours? No. Wear them for 10 uninterrupted hours each time. For example, if you put them on at 8pm, you could take them off by 6am.

It’s perfectly normal to experience some discomfort during your treatment. If you don’t feel any discomfort, that’s okay, too.

What about minor pain?

Until you’ve completed your treatment plan, your teeth may feel a little strange. This is all normal. Your teeth are being gently moved with each set of aligners you wear.

My teeth feel all strange and stuff.

Unlike with braces, you can eat or drink whatever you want. Because, ta-dah, you take your aligners out before consuming your tasty treats. Don’t forget to take your aligners out before you eat breakfast. And always brush your teeth before putting your aligners back in the evening. And give them a little rinse, too.

Can I eat with my aligners in?

You should only drink cool water while wearing your aligners. Hot liquids will damage or warp your aligners. Other beverages, like soda, encourage cavities and stains. So don’t have any of the those damaging drinks during your ten-hour wear period.

What kind of beverages can I drink?

Of course. That’s why we call them nighttime clear aligners. They’ll be working hard while you catch some zzz’s.

Can I sleep with my aligners in?

Nope. The smoke can stain the aligners and give you permanent yuck mouth. Please don’t smoke.

What about smoking?

Aligner down? It happens. We’re all human. First thing, go back to wearing your previous aligner set right away. This will stop your teeth from shifting. Then give us a call at 800-632-1350 to order your replacements. We’ll have you back on track in no time.

What should I do if I break an aligner?

No.

Can I chew gum while wearing aligners?

Don’t you worry. Your nighttime aligners are working while you sleep, and you will get a smile you’ll love by the end of treatment. However, it’ll take longer to start seeing results. Most people start seeing movement in the second month.

I am not seeing movement after wearing my aligners for a full month.

When you finish your smile plan, don’t add the box to a landfill. Take out that white drawer where your aligners were, and flip it around. Now you’ve got a nifty thing to hold stuff that makes you smile.

REUSE

Tell us when you start. It’s important.

A L I G N E R L I F E

Please go online right away for your first check-in. If you don’t, your doctor can’t track your progress. Check in at SmileDirectClub.com/checkin. Go ahead and do that right now. We’ll wait here.

Back already? Great. Now we’ll be able to remind you when to change to your next aligners. We’ll also be able to remind you about your 90-day check-ins with your doctor.

Keep it clean.Clean your aligners with warm water and gentle liquid soap.

Watch how to keep those aligners crystal clean.

Blog.SmileDirectClub.com/clean

Toothpaste is great for your teeth, but don’t use it to clean your aligners. It can be abrasive and scratch the plastic.

Do’s• Protect your aligners from the sunlight, hot cars, toaster ovens,

hair dryers, space heaters, blowtorches, supernovas, and other sources of excessive heat.

• Keep your aligners stored safely away from pets or children when you’re not wearing them. That’s what the case is for.

• You care enough about your smile to make it straight and bright. Make sure it’s healthy too. Get regular dental checkups and cleanings so your teeth and gums stay healthy.

• Remember what Mom always said: “Don’t put that in your mouth without washing it.” Clean your aligners before putting them in each night.

• Brush and floss your teeth before putting your aligners in. Mmmm. Fresh.

• Store your aligners in your case. (See pets-and-children warning above.)

M Y A L I G N E R S A N D M E

Don’ts• Don’t use sharp objects to remove your aligners. Put that

butcher knife down and use your Outie tool.

• Don’t wrap your aligners in a napkin or paper towel. Because, next stop, trash can.

• Don’t use hot water to clean your aligners, and don’t put them in the dishwasher. High temperatures will turn them into tiny useless plastic sculptures.

• Don’t use denture cleaner on your aligners or soak them in mouthwash, since this can damage or discolor them.

• Don’t wear aligners while eating or drinking anything other than cool water.

• Don’t bite your aligners into position. This can damage your aligners and your teeth. Use your Chewies instead.

We’ve got your back, from start to finish.

Keep your smile from shifting back by purchasing retainers for $99/set

Here’s why retainers are a good idea. Before you started your smile journey, your teeth had been doing what they were doing for a long, long time. They’re going to want to slip back into their old positions. Using retainers is the only way to keep your smile in place, maintain your warranty, and protect the investment you’ve made.

R E TA I N YO U R WA R R A N T Y

You’ll wear your retainers just as you would your nighttime clear aligners, only while you sleep.

We recommend replacing your retainers every 6 months to keep them fresh.
