7th June 2016 Dear Parents,
NOTICE OF SCHOOL FEES FROM SEPTEMBER 2016 This is the time of the year when the school sets its budget for the next academic year, which includes agreeing the fee structure. At its recent meeting, the Board of Directors decided to increase school fees effective 1st September 2016. In considering next year’s budget, the Board of Directors/Management have taken into account the need to maintain the school’s reputation for providing excellent all-round education in an excellent facility for our children and the need to provide value for money in the context of ever increasing costs. NIS wishes to ensure that it can continue to invest in important areas, such as technology, and remain able to recruit and retain high quality staff in every post. A huge percentage of NIS cash costs relate to its workforce who provide the quality of education and care for which NIS is renowned. We examine the need for each and every member of staff annually and change staffing levels slightly to reflect the needs of the school. We believe it is important to maintain staffing at its current level to drive up standards. The costs of diesel and power have risen astronomically. We run mainly on diesel during school hours. We are one school today that guarantees full power supply to our children during school hours. The costs of our learning materials, which are all sourced abroad, have been drastically affected by the massive devaluation and volatile nature of the Naira today. NIS’s other major expenditure is on its facility, which is kept in perfect condition at all times. The factors listed above have put huge pressure on our finances, necessitating the need for a fee increase. We would like to assure you that the Board of Directors, Governing Board and school are mindful of the general economic situation in the country today and the difficulties parents may be experiencing at this time, and will do all we can to contain costs, while providing the quality of education you expect from NIS. We thank you for your understanding at this very difficult time. MANAGEMENT
