Embajador de México presenta Cartas Creden-ciales | Mexican Ambassa-dor presents CredentialsHelsinki, 5 de septiembre de 2017- Cumpliendo con las formas diplomáticas, el embajador Ernesto Céspedes presentó ante el presidente Sauli Niinistö las cartas credenciales que lo acreditan como Embajador de México en Finlandia.En una emotiva ceremonia llevada a cabo en el Palacio Presidencial de Finlandia, el embajador Céspedes, envió un saludo de parte del presidente Enrique Peña Nieto y dialogó sobre el estado de relación bilateral.Da click en la imagen para ver la interpretación del Himno Nacional Mexicano por parte de la Banda Militar de Finlandia.Helsinki, September 5th, 2017- In accordance with diplomatic practice, Ambassador Ernesto Céspedes presented his Letter of Credence to President of Finland, Sauli Niinistö, which formally accredits him as Ambassador of Mexico to Finland. The ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace, where Ambassador Céspedes conveyed a greeting on behalf of President Enrique Peña Nieto and held a conversation on the state of the bilateral relation. Mexicanos en Finlandia y sus familias, así como amigos de México conmemoraron las Fiestas Patrias en el corazón de la ciudad, en la cripta de la icónica Catedral Luterana de Helsinki, ubicada sobre la Plaza del Senado de esta capital.

La “noche mexicana” en la cripta de la Catedral Luterana de Helsinki se llenó en su totalidad con cerca de 400 invitados que al unísono participaron en la tradicional arenga de “El grito de Dolores” y en la entonación del Himno Nacional. La noche estuvo amenizada por canciones de mariachi, además de rifas de productos mexicanos.Se extiende un agradecimiento especial a las empresas: CEMEX (Embra Oy), Wavin-Labko del Grupo Mexichem y la touroperadora Aurinkomatkat por sus importantes aportaciones para la Fiesta Nacional.Mexicans families living in Finland and Finnish friends of Mexico commemorated our National Day in the heart of the city, located in the crypt of the iconic Lutheran Cathedral, near the Senate Square in central Helsinki.The Embassy held a “Mexican Night” at the crypt of the Helsinki Lutheran Cathedral with a crowd of almost 400 guests. The attendance participated in the tradicional ceremony of the “Cry of Dolores” and afterwards sang the Mexican National Anthem. Mariachi songs played throughout the night and the guests had a chance to win one of many Mexican products available.A special thanks to the following partners: CEMEX (Embra Oy), Wavin-Labko of the Mexichem Group, and Aurinkomatkat touroperator for their important contributions towards the National Day festivities.

"Desarrollando lazos académicos con Fin-landia" | "Strengthen-ing Academic Ties with Finland”

Adelante con los ne-gocios con Finlandia | Moving on with Busi-ness in FinlandLa Embajada realiza un esfuerzo continuo por buscar y promover nuevas oportunidades de negocio entre México y Finlandia. Junto con aliados estratégicos como Finpro, Cancillería �nlandesa y ProMéxico, se ha promovido la relación económica bilateral.

En fechas recientes, el embajador Ernesto Céspedes, sostuvo una reunión de trabajo con el Subsecretario para Asuntos Económicos Externos de Cancillería �nlandesa, Emb. Markku Keinänen, y los representantes empresariales (energía, TIC y papel y celulosa) que lo acompañarán en una visita de negocios que se llevará a cabo en México en una fecha próxima. El Emb. Céspedes señaló que: “[la reunión] constituía en sí misma un claro ejemplo de la buena coordinación entre los gobiernos de México y de Finlandia”. México constituye un mercado interesante para la expansión de empresas �nlandesas, pero también existen muchas oportunidades de inversión.

De México también existe amplio interés por conocer el mercado �nlandés. Una delegación empresarial mexicana estuvo en Finlandia representando a seis marcas de mezcal. Gracias a la Embajada y a la o�cina regional de ProMéxico, los “mezcaleros” realizaron citas de negocios con posibles importadores y ofrecieron una cata de mezcal para la industria hotelera y de servicios gastronómicos.

The Embassy is in a constant pursuit of business opportunities in Mexico and Finland. Together with strategic allies like Finpro, the Finnish Foreign Ministry, and ProMéxico, there has been a constant promotion of the bilateral economic relationship.Recently, Ambassador Ernesto Céspedes hosted Ambassador Markku Keinänen, Under-Secretary for External Economic Relations at the MFA, and the representatives of companies from the energy, ICT, and pulp and paper industry who will travel to Mexico in an upcoming business visit. Amb. Céspedes stated that: “[this meeting] is proof of the good coordination between the governments of Mexico and Finland”.There is also an interest of exploring the Finnish market by Mexican businesspeople. A Mexican delegation visited Finland in representation of six brands of mezcal spirits. Thanks to the Embassy and the regional of�ce of ProMéxico, the delegation held business meetings with importers and held a mezcal “master class” for the hotel and gastronomy industry.

A partir de la colaboración inicial con la entonces Universidad de Ciencias Aplicadas de Ostrobothnia Central (COUAS) de Kokkola a �nales de los 1990s, CETYS Universidad de Baja California ha mantenido sus lazos con Finlandia. Tal iniciativa se dio en un momento importante, ya que Finlandia estaba iniciando los esfuerzos de internacionalización de sus instituciones de educación superior.Crucial para este intercambio académico ha sido el siempre buscar el �ujo de ideas y actividades en ambos rumbos, así como una diversi�cación en las áreas y actores/actrices. Una �gura central en esta colaboración ha sido la Dra. Marja-Liisa Tenhunen, ex rectora de COUAS y ahora Profesora Visitante Distinguida de CETYS Universidad. Por parte de CETYS Universidad, durante buena parte de la actividad con Finlandia, el Dr. Carlos Rodríguez Rubio jugó un papel esencial en mantener y fomentar las relaciones. Si bien al inicio el enfoque fue la movilidad de alumnos de CETYS Universidad hacia COUAS, poco a poco se fue diversi�cando a incluir la movilidad de directivos y profesorado, así como alumnado de COUAS hacia CETYS Universidad, a la vez que se extendió el intercambio a otras Universidad de Ciencias Aplicadas como Haaga y Vaasa. Más recientemente, la cooperación se ha extendido a la Universidad de Tampere.Entre 1999 y 2015 se tuvieron al menos 40 alumnos de Finlandia inscritos a sesiones cortas o semestrales en CETYS Universidad y más de 30 de CETYS Universidad hacia Finlandia. La plataforma de colaboración lograda con las Universidades de Ciencias Aplicadas de Finlandia ha sido vital para que CETYS lograra actividades con la parte Norte de Europa, ya que las mismas sirvieron de base para luego establecer intercambios con Suecia, además de que es una antesala de colaboración con Universidad de Tallinn en Estonia.

CETYS University, located in Baja California, Mexico, has maintained collaboration ties with Finland since the late 90s when the �rst agreement was signed with the Central Ostrobothnia University of Applied Sciences (COUAS) in Kokkola. Such initiative took place in a moment of great signi�cance, when Finland endeavored to internationalize its higher education institutions. New ideas and activities, as well as the diversi�cation of actors, are essential for a successful academic exchange. PhD Marja-Liisa Tenhunen, former Rector at COUAS and currently Distinguished Visiting Professor at CETYS University, has been a central �gure in this cooperation. Likewise, PhD Carlos Rodríguez Rubio, from CETYS University, played an essential role in maintaining and promoting relations. Despite the initial focus on bringing students from CETYS University towards COUAS, the exchange of Directors and Teachers, as well as of alumni from COUAS, started to gradually move towards CETYS. Consequently, the exchange with other Finnish Applied Science Universities such as Haaga and Vaasa was also established. Recently, the cooperation has been extended to the University of Tampere. Between 1999-2015, at least 40 students from Finland took part in short courses or semester studies at CETYS University and more than 30 students from CETYS participated in Finnish courses.The cooperation platform achieved with the Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences has been vital for the activities of CETYS in Northern Europe, because it was the basis for further cooperation abroad with Sweden and the University of Tallinn in Estonia.

Helsinki, 5 de julio de 2017- Con gran maestría, el joven sinaloense, Jorge Birrueta, tocó la guitarra clásica para el público �nlandés y extranjero que se dio cita en el escenario Espan Lava, que se ubica en uno de los parques principales y más transitados del centro de esta capital. Durante una hora de concierto, Jorge Birrueta, realizó una interpretación de varios compositores latinoamericanos como Leo Brouwer (Cuba); Heitor Villa-Lobos (Brazil), Alberto Ginastera (Argentina), así como de los mexicanos destacados: Manuel M. Ponce y Armando Luna.Helsinki, July, 5th, 2017- A young guitar player by the name of Jorge Birrueta, from the state of Sinaloa, mastered classical guitar pieces for the Finnish and foreign audience gathered at the Espan Lava stage, located in one of the busiest parks in the center of the capital city. During the one hour program, Jorge Birrueta played pieces from several Latin American composers, such as Leo Brouwer (Cuba), Heitor Villa-Lobos (Brazil), Alberto Ginastera (Argentina) and the renowned Mexican composers Manuel M. Ponce and Armando Luna.

El cine mexicano llegó a otras latitudes, en esta ocasión la Embajada de México en Finlandia y el Cine Club de Rovaniemi llevaron diversos títulos hasta Laponia, en el círculo ártico �nlandés. El ciclo de cine “Sweet & Sour”, denominado así debido a la mezcla de películas del género de comedio y drama, se presentó en el Café Koti de Rovaniemi del 24 de agosto al 14 de septiembre. La serie incluía títulos como: En el ombligo del cielo (2012), Las horas muertas (2013), Hecho en China (2012) y La Cebra (2011), las cuales forman partes del amplio repertorio del cine mexicano contemporáneo.

Mexican cinema reached other latitudes. This time the Embassy of Mexico in Finland and the Rovaniemi Film Club Cinema screened several �lms in Lapland, in the Finnish Arctic Circle. Named after the variety of comedy and drama �lms, the “Sweet & Sour” �lm series took place from August 24th-September 14th, at the premises of Café Koti in Rovaniemi. The titles included in the �lm series were: En el ombligo del cielo (2012); Las horas muertas (2013); Hecho en China (2012) and La Cebra (2011), all of them belonging to a wide repertoire of contemporary Mexican �lms.
