Improved educational technology will increase the engagement of students in rigorous academic work. The facility project creates spaces for community providers to work directly with students and families to support health and wellness. The project also aims to build pride in students by sharing our local arts and cultures within the school buildings. The proposed field house can support community wellness, allow for improved athletic training, and creates opportunities to host local and regional events. We thank you for taking a few moments to review this informational pamphlet describing our proposed facility project. The community will have the opportunity to vote on this referendum project on April 5th. HOW DID WE GET HERE?Intense planning began in the spring of 2015 when the School Board hired FJJ to assist the district in completing a Long Range Facilities & Education Planning Process. The following process unfolded:

MAY 2015To start the process the School Board reviewed the following reports that had been in place: Utility Usage Analysis, SDA 2015-19 Long Range Facility Plan, Interior & Exterior Assessment Reports, Roof Survey & Evaluation, Pavement Maintenance Program & Outdoor Site Master Plan Study, Demographic Report andEducational Adequacy Report

MAY 2015 - OCT. 2015A series of twenty-eight Listening Sessions were held seeking input from community, students and staff.

NOVEMBER 2015The School Board formed a 33 member Community Advisory Committee (CAC) composed of a variety of community stakeholders. The CAC, with community and staff input, studiedin detail:• Current enrollment and future population projections• Results from the Facilities Studies• Update on AWARE grant and student mental health needs• Modern teaching and learning spaces• Financial status of the District

DECEMBER 2015 - JANUARY 2016The CAC made a final recommendation to the School Board of the facility needs that should be included in an April 5th referendum. The School Board met several times and reviewed the Committee’s recommendation. On January 18th the School Board passed the resolution for an April 5, 2016 referendum in the amount of $34,360,000 ASHLAND HIGH SCHOOL
