Ne-braska holds a 3-1 advantage in the series with the Heroes Trophyon the line, winning in Lincoln in 2011 and Iowa City in 2012 and2014. Iowa claimed the trophy with a 38-17 win in Lincoln in 2013.

    THE RECORDS - - Iowa is 11-0, 7-0, with wins over Illinois State(31-14), at Iowa State (31-17), Pisburgh (27-24), North Texas(62-16), at Wisconsin (10-6), Illinois (29-20), at Northwestern(40-10), Maryland (31-15), at Indiana (35-27), Minnesota (40-35)and Purdue (40-20).

    COACHING RECORDS - - Kirk Ferentz is in his 20th year as a col-lege head coach and his 17th year as Iowa’s head coach. His careerrecord is 138-106 and he is 126-85 at Iowa. He ranks eighth inthe Big Ten Conference in coaching victories.

    Iowa is looking to complete an undefeated regular season for the h me in school

    history, and rst me since 1922: (1899, 8-0-1; 1900, 8-0-1; 1921, 7-0; 1922, 7-0).

    The Hawkeyes are 11-0 for the rst me in school history. Iowa has won a school-

    record 11 games for the third me in program history (2002, 2009).

    Iowa (11-0, 7-0) is one of two remaining unbeaten teams in FBS (Clemson 11-0, 8-0 ACC).

    The Hawkeyes are ranked No. 3 in the AP Poll, their highest ranking since Dec. 8, 2002,

    when they were also third. Iowa was ranked fourth in the BCS rankings twice in 2009.

    The Hawkeyes are 4-0 on the road with a pair of wins over ranked opponents

    (#18 Wisconsin; #20 Northwestern). Iowa is one of only four schools with mulple road

    wins over ranked opponents: Alabama (3), Michigan State (2) and UCLA (2).

    Iowa leads the Big Ten and ranks h naonally with a plus-11 turnover margin. Iowa

    has scored 76 points o turnovers and leads the Big Ten with 13 intercepons. The

    Hawkeyes have turned the ball over only once since Oct. 31.

    The Hawkeyes have scored 30-plus points in ve straight Big Ten games for the rst m

    in school history. No Iowa team has ever scored 30 points or more in six straight games

    (conference or non-conference).

    Junior QB C.J. Beathard is 12-0 as Iowa’s starng quarterback. He is the only quarterbackin school history to win his rst 12 career starts. He is 5-0 on the road, 7-0 at home, and

    8-0 in the Big Ten.

    Junior DB Desmond King leads the country with eight intercepons. His eight intercepons

    e the single-season school record (Lou King, 1981; Nile Kinnick, 1939). The eight picks are

    the most by a Big Ten player in a single season since Wisconsin’s Jim Leonard had 11 in 2002

    Jordan Canzeri (256), Akrum Wadley (204), and LeShun Daniels (195) have each rushed for at

    least 195 yards in a single game this season, making Iowa the rst FBS team since LSU in 1997 to

    have at least three dierent players rush for 195-plus yards in a single game in the same season.

    Iowa has scored a touchdown on its opening possession three straight weeks, and ha

    outscored its opponents 71-23 in the rst quarter.

      Iowa’s Jordan Canzeri caught a 5-yardtouchdown pass from Rudock with 1:49 le in

    regulaon to put Iowa in front 31-28. Nebraska was able to even the score on a Drew

    Brown 30-yard eld goal with eight seconds remaining to send the game into overme

      BATTLE FOR HEROES TROPHY 

      Iowa and Nebraska are playing “The Hy-Vee Heroes Game” Friday, with the winne

    claiming the Heroes Trophy. The trophy game between the Hawkeyes and Cornhuskers

    established in 2011, is the latest trophy game for the Hawkeyes, who also play troph

    games with Iowa State (Cy-Hawk Trophy), Minnesota (Floyd of Rosedale) and Wisconsi

    (Heartland Trophy). Iowa gained possession of the trophy for the rst me with a 38-1

    as head football coach at Iowa and the dean

    of Big Ten Conference football coaches. His

    latest contract extension runs through the

    2020 season.

      Since 1999, Kirk Ferentz’s rst year as UI head coach, th

    Hawkeyes have had a future NFL player start on the oensive lin

    in every season.

    In each of the last eight years, an eventual NFL rst-round dra

    pick started on the oensive line. Brandon Scher, selected by th

    Washington Redskins h overall in 2015, was Iowa’s le tack

    from 2012-14. Riley Rei, selected 23rd overall by the Detroit Lion

    in 2012, started at le tackle from 2010-11. Bryan Bulaga, selecte

    23rd overall by the Green Bay Packers in 2010, started at le guar

    in 2007 before moving to le tackle in 2008-09.

    From 2005-06, Balmore Ravens All-Pro Marshal Yanda share

    me at tackle and guard for the Hawkeyes. Mike Elgin, a seventround selecon of New England, was Iowa’s starng center in 2004

    Pete McMahon, draed by Oakland in 2005, was Iowa’s right guar

      The Hawkeyes have outscored their opponents 71-23 in th

    (4) against the Wildcats on Oct. 17. Canzeri amassed 256 yard

    on Oct. 10.

      WE’LL GO FIRST 

      Iowa received the opening kicko in eight of 11 games this season, and has outscored

    its opponents 71-23 in the rst quarter.

      In 17 seasons as Iowa’s head coach, Kirk Ferentz and the Hawkeyes received the

    opening kicko in 170-of-211 games (103-67). Iowa has started the game on defense in

    41-of-211 games under Ferentz (23-18).

    THE FOURTH QUARTER

      QB C.J. Beathard and the Hawkeyes’ rush defense have dominated the fourth quarter

    in 2015. Iowa’s rush defense, the No. 3 defense in the conference, has yielded 204 tota

    rushing yards in the fourth quarter this season (18.5 yards per game).

    Beathard is 29-of-45 passing for 427 yards and three touchdowns. He has also rushed

    17 mes for 53 yards and two touchdowns in the fourth quarter this season. He has

    engineered game-winning drives in the fourth quarter two mes this season (Iowa State

    and Pi). He was 4-of-4 for 46 yards and a touchdown against Iowa State, and he rushed

    for 27 yards on three carries to set up K Marshall Koehn’s 57-yard game winning eld goa

    against Pi.

      In Iowa’s last 12 games, including the 2015 TaxSlayer Bowl, Beathard’s fourth quarte

    numbers include 36-of-52 passing for 522 yards and ve touchdowns, and 19 carries for

    91 yards and two touchdowns. Beathard did not play in the fourth quarter against NorthTexas.

      Iowa leads the Big Ten with 13 intercepons. The Hawkeyes have returned three

    returns in school history. Iowa ranks 12th in the country with three defensive scores this

    season.

      Iowa has at least one intercepon return for a touchdown in each of the last eight

    seasons, and 13 of the last 15 seasons.

    POWER OF THREE 

      Three Hawkeyes (Jordan Canzeri, 256, Akrum Wadley, 204; LeShun Daniels, 195) have

    combined for eight 100-yard rushing games this season: Canzeri (4x), Wadley (twice), and

    Daniels (twice). The last me the Hawkeyes had three dierent players rush for over 100

    yards in a game in the same season was 2005: Albert Young (8x), and Shonn Greene and

    Damian Sims once each.

      The Hawkeyes also have three receivers with 100-yard receiving games: Ma VandeBerg

      Junior QB C.J. Beathard is the only quarterback in school history to win his rst 1

    career starts. He is one of only four Power 5 quarterbacks to win each of their rst 1

    career starts since 2010. The others include Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton, Auburn

    Oregon’s Darron Thomas; and Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston, Florida State.

    Beathard ranks h in the Big Ten in total oense with 2,537 yards. He has 2,257 yard

    missing two weeks due to injury. He le the Northwestern gam

    King was named Big Ten Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week and Jim Thorp

      Senior DE Drew O is out for the season aer suering a torn ACL against Illinois

    Week 6. He recorded one sack and two tackles-for-loss before leaving the game with a

    injury.

      O le the Iowa State game in Week 2 with an injury and saw limited snaps Week

    against Pi. O’s streak of 15 consecuve starts at defensive end ended Week 3 vs. Pi

    O recorded three tackles in the win at Wisconsin, including 2.5 tackles for loss ana QB sack. He forced a fumble in the second quarter that led to an Iowa eld goal.

      OFFENSIVE-TACKLE-BY-COMMITTEE 

      The Hawkeyes have started four dierent oensive tackles this season. Three of them

    -- LT Boone Myers, RT Ike Boeger, LT Cole Croston -- entered the season with one combine

    career start (Boeger started as a second ght end against Wisconsin in 2014). OL Sea

    Welsh had 13 career starts at le guard before sliding out to right tackle at Northwestern

    Iowa’s oensive-tackle-by-commiee is replacing a pair of NFL lineman -- 2014 Outlan

    Trophy winner LT Brandon Scher (Washington Redskins) and RT Andrew Donnal (St. Lou

    Rams).

    Myers joined the program as a walk-on and was put on scholarship prior to the 201

    season. He saw acon in four games last season. Boeger joined the team as a gh

    end but was moved to oensive line in 2013. He saw acon in seven games as a redshir

    freshman in 2014. Croston joined the team as a walk-on in 2012, and had played primaril

    on special teams prior to this season. He joined the program for the 2015 spring pracc

    season. Welsh was a high school All-American in Springboro, Ohio, and was named rs

    team freshman All-Big Ten by BTN in 2014.

      IOWA PROGRAM NOTES

    • Iowa and Ohio State are the only teams in the Big Ten to win

    their rst nine games to start a season more than once since

    2000 (Ohio State six mes; Iowa twice).

    • The Hawkeyes have earned bowl eligibility in 14 of the last 15

    seasons.

    • Iowa will play in the Big Ten tle game for the rst me in

    program history on Dec. 5. Iowa earned Big Ten Conferencechampionships in 2002 and 2004 and placed second in 2009.

    Iowa (8-0, 2002) is one of four Big Ten teams to post a perfect

    mark in conference play since 1998 (BCS era).

    • Iowa has ranked in the top 10 in the nal Associated Press and

    CNN/USA Today coaches polls four mes since 2002, including

    a ranking of seventh in both polls at the conclusion of the 2009

    season. Iowa ranked eighth in 2002, 2003 and 2004 and the

    • Since 1936 when the rst AP poll was released, Iowa has ap-

    record that ranks as the best decade in Iowa football history,

    based on total wins. Iowa posted a record of 77-40-4 (.652)

    during the 1980’s and the Hawkeyes were 62-53-2 (.538) in the

    1990’s.

    • Part of the Hawkeyes’ long term success is due to the stability

    in the program. Iowa has had just two head coaches since 1979.

    Hayden Fry took over prior to the 1979 season and coached

    through the 1998 season, posng a record of 143-89-6. Currentcoach Kirk Ferentz replaced Fry, leading the program for the

    17th season. Ferentz also served as Iowa’s oensive line coach

    from 1981-89 under Fry.

      Iowa has appeared in 28 bowl games with a record of 14-13

    1 (.518). The Hawkeyes have competed in the Rose (ve mes

    Outback (four), Alamo (four), Holiday (three), Orange (two), Peac

    (two), Sun (two), Insight (two), Gator/TaxSlayer (two), and th

    Capital One, and Freedom bowls once.

    • Iowa has played 12 bowl games under Kirk Ferentz (6-6).

    • Iowa has been bowl eligible 14 of the last 15 seasons undehead coach Kirk Ferentz and his sta.

    • Iowa ranks third in Big Ten bowl appearances. Ohio State ha

    received a conference-best 45 bowl bids, followed by Michiga

    (43), Iowa (28) and Wisconsin (26).

    • During the BCS bowl era (1998-2013), the Big Ten qualied 2

    teams for BCS bowls, more than any other conference. Eigh

    dierent Big Ten programs played in BCS bowl games, includin

    two appearances by Iowa (1-1).

    • For just the second me in league history, 10 Big Ten Conferenc

    teams competed in bowl games in 2014 (2011). Ohio State wo

    the inaugural College Football Playo, while Michigan State wo

    the Coon Bowl, another College Football Playo bowl. Seve

       ALL IN THE FAMILY 

      Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz has two of his three sons involved in th

    Iowa program again in 2015. Brian, a former Hawkeye leerma

    and captain (2003-05), is in his fourth season as Iowa’s oensive lin

    coach. Steven is an oensive lineman who is in his fourth seaso

    as a redshirt junior. James Ferentz was a three-year starter on th

    Hawkeye oensive line and a team captain before graduang i

    May 2013. He is currently playing for the NFL’s Denver Bronco

    Ferentz is the only FBS coach ever to coach three sons at the sam

    school.

      PAULSENS ARE A FAMILIAR FACE 

      Freshmen Landan and Levi Paulsen are the sixth set of twin

    to play football at the University of Iowa. The oensive lineme

    from Woodbury High School in Northwest Iowa join the compan

    of Leo and Lloyd Jensvold (1929-30), Harold and Herbert Shoene

    (1946-47), Kent and Kevin Ellis (1977-80), Aaron and Evan Kooike

    (1992), and Shane and Shaun Prater (2008).

      The Paulsens are one of three sets of brothers on Iowa’s 201

    roster, joining DB Kevin Ward and OL Ryan Ward, and OL Jame

    Daniels and RB LeShun Daniels.

      MORE THAN ONE 

      Eleven high schools have contributed more than one player tthe current Iowa football roster. Dowling Catholic HS in West De

      THE HAWKEYES, SIZE WISE 

      Redshirt freshman WR Brandon Bishop and freshman WR

    Emmanuel Ogwo are the lightest Hawkeye players at 170 pounds.

    Junior DL Jaleel Johnson is the heaviest at 310 pounds. A total of

    seven Hawkeye players are listed at 300 pounds or more.

    The tallest player at 6-8 is redshirt freshman DE Ma Nelson.

    The shortest player, at 5-8, is sophomore WR Jonathan Parker.

      The average Hawkeye player is 6-2 and weighs 232 pounds.That is the one inch taller and two pounds heavier than the average

    Iowa player in 2013.

      FATHER’S FOOTSTEPS

      Iowa has nine players on its 2015 roster whose father played

    for the Hawkeyes. WR Brandon Bishop (Willie in 1986), QB Drew

    Cook (Marv in 1985-88), OL Cole Croston (Dave in 1984-86), OL

    Mitch Keppy (Myron in 1986-87), LS Tyler Kluver (Todd in 1986-87),

    TE George Kile (Bruce in 1977-80), WR Anthony Nelson (Je in

    1990-92), TE Peter Pekar (Jim in 1980-81), and QB Ryan Schmidt

    (Rick 1984-85).

      FLIRTING WITH 100 

      Junior QB C.J. Beathard gained 111 yards but lost 34 yards

    rushing against Iowa State on Sept. 12. His net gain of 77 yards

    threatened his career-high of 82 set at the 2015 TaxSlayer Bowl.

    The last Iowa quarterback to rush for 100 yards in a single game

    was Butch Caldwell, who ran for 109 yards on 12 aempts against

    Michigan State on Nov. 24, 1973 in Iowa City.

    THE DRIVE 

      Iowa put together a 99-yard scoring drive on its second

    possession of the season. It was the Hawkeyes’ first 99-yard

    touchdown drive since 2002. Iowa passed six mes and rushed

    six mes while converng ve rst downs on the drive. QB C.J.Beathard was 4-of-6 passing for 63 yards. He also carried once for

    two yards. RB LeShun Daniels, Jr., carried four mes for 18 yards,

    and RB Jordan Canzeri took his rst carry of the season ve yards

    into the end zone. Canzeri also had a 21-yard recepon.

    BEATHARD EARNS NATIONAL MANNING AWARD

      Junior quarterback C.J. Beathard was selected as the Manning

    Award Quarterback of the Week following his play in Iowa’s 31-17

    win at Iowa State. He earned the honor over seven other Manning

    Award Stars of the Week in the Allstate Sugar Bowl’s Facebook

    contest.

    In his third career start, the Franklin, Tennessee, native

    completed 15-of-25 passes for 215 yards and three touchdownsas the Hawkeyes scored 21 unanswered points in the second half

    to earn the road victory. His 25-yard touchdown pass to junior WR

    Riley McCarron in the fourth quarter gave the Hawkeyes the lead

    with 2:14 le in the game. Beathard also carried the ball a career

    high 10 mes for 77 yards, showcasing his athlecism on runs of

    44 and 57 yards in the rst half. He was also named the Big Ten

    Conference Co-Oensive Player of the Week.

      Beathard earned the award over Washington State’s Luke Falk,

    who completed 47-of-66 passes for 478 yards and four touchdowns

    in a 37-34 win at Rutgers. Third in the vong was Paxton Lynch from

    Memphis, who led the Tigers to a 55-23 win at Kansas to snap a

    19-game losing streak against power-ve teams.

      Each week during the regular season, eight quarterbacks ar

    recognized as Manning Quarterbacks of the Week. Sixty-two playe

    from 58 dierent schools were honored during the 2014 season

    BEATHARD EARNS WEEKLY B1G HONOR

      Junior quarterback C.J. Beathard was named co-Oensive Playe

    of the Week by the Big Ten aer leading Iowa to a 31-17 win at IowState on Sept. 15. He completed 15-of-25 aempts for 215 yard

    and three touchdowns with no intercepons. He also rushed 1

    mes for 77 yards, including runs of 44 and 57 yards. His scorin

    strikes covered three, 14, and 25 yards, with the 25-yard scor

    giving Iowa the lead with 2:14 remaining in the fourth quarter.

      The Big Ten weekly honor was the rst for Beathard. He is th

    rst Hawkeye to win the oensive honor since former WR Marvi

    McNu, Jr., following a win over Indiana in 2011.

      KING IS WALTER CAMP PLAYER OF THE YEAR CANDIDATE 

      Junior defensive back Desmond King is one of 15 “Players t

    Watch” for the Walter Camp Football Foundaon 2015 Player o

    the Year. The award is the fourth-oldest college football award i

    the naon.

      The Player of the Year Award is voted on by the 129 Footba

    Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports informaon directors

    King leads the naon with eight intercepons. King has mulp

    intercepons in two games, with two thes in wins over Pisburg

    and Wisconsin. The eight intercepons e the Iowa single-seaso

    record (Lou King, 1981; Nile Kinnick, 1939). King has 11 caree

    thes, which es for eighth best at Iowa.

      King has recorded 27 solo tackles and 16 assists, with one tack

    for loss. He leads the Hawkeyes with seven pass break-ups. Iow

    ranks among naonal leaders in turnover margin (7th), takeaway

    (10th), rushing defense (9th), and intercepons (17th).  King was named the Jim Thorpe naonal Defensive Player of th

    Week and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week following Iowa’

    win at Wisconsin. He is also the rst Hawkeye with mulple mul

    intercepon games in a season (Pisburgh and at Wisconsin) sinc

    Tyler Sash in 2009.

      King is also Iowa’s primary kickoff and punt returner. H

    averages 12.7 yards on punt returns and 25.1 yards on kicko

    returns to rank third in the Big Ten in both categories.

    KING EARNS TWO WEEKLY HONORS

      Junior DB Desmond King was named Big Ten Conference Co

    Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Iowa’s 10-

    win at Wisconsin on Oct. 3. He was also named the Jim Thorpnaonal Player of the Week.

      The Big Ten honor is the second for King. He was name

    Freshman of the Week on Oct. 21, 2013, aer recording 12 tackle

    in a 34-24 loss at No. 3 Ohio State.

      King led Iowa’s defensive eort in the win at Wisconsin as th

    Hawkeye defense held the Badgers to two eld goals in snappin

    Wisconsin’s 10-game home winning streak. King’s rst intercepon

    and 15-yard return, led to the only touchdown in the game as Iow

    took a 7-3 advantage. He recorded his second intercepon at th

    Iowa 11-yard line to stop Wisconsin’s opening drive of the thir

    quarter.

      KING NAMED SEMIFINALIST FOR JIM THORPE AWARD

      DB Desmond King is one of 16 seminalists for the 2015 Jim

    Thorpe Award, given to the top defensive back in college football.

    The junior leads the country with eight intercepons. King hasmulple intercepons in two games, with two thes in wins over

    Pisburgh and Wisconsin.

      King was named the Jim Thorpe naonal Defensive Player of

    the Week and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week following

    Iowa’s win at Wisconsin. His seven intercepons are the most for

    a Hawkeye in a season since Kerry Burt had seven in 1987. He is

    also the rst Hawkeye with mulple mul-intercepon games in

    a season since Tyler Sash in 2009.

      MEIER NAMED TO HENDRICKS AWARD WATCH LIST 

      DE Nate Meier was one of 32 players named to the midseason

    Watch List for the 14th edion of the Ted Hendricks Award.

    Meier is a senior from Tabor, Iowa (Fremont-Mills HS). He ranksfourth on the team with 68 tackles, including 28 solo tackles and

    40 assists. Meier leads Iowa in sacks (6.5-44) and tackles for loss

    (10-51). He has forced one fumble and recovered one fumble,

    to go with one pass break-up. His eight quarterback hurries lead

    the team.

    The nal Mid-Season Watch List will be announced in late

    November. The 2015 winner will be announced on Dec. 9.

      CANZERI EARNS CONFERENCE HONOR

      RB Jordan Canzeri was named Big Ten Conference Oensive

    Player of the Week for his performance in Iowa’s 29-20 win over

    Illinois. The Big Ten honor was the rst for Canzeri.

    Canzeri led Iowa’s oense with 256 rushing yards on 43 aempts.

    He also had two recepons for 15 yards. He scored twice, including

    a 17-yard recepon in the second quarter and a 75-yard run in the

    third period.

      Canzeri was at his best in the fourth quarter against Illinois,

    rushing on 11 consecuve plays for 59 yards. Iowa used 6:53 of the

    quarter to set up a Marshall Koehn eld goal aer Illinois pulled

    within 23-20. Following a fumble recovery, Canzeri added three

    addional rushing aempts before Koehn sealed the victory with

    his third eld goal of the game.

      Canzeri established an Iowa record for rushing aempts in a

    game, passing the previous mark of 42, which was held by Sedrick

    Shaw (at Michigan State, 1995). The 256 rushing yards ranks thirdbest for a single game at Iowa.

      WADLEY NAMED B1G OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK 

      RB Akrum Wadley was named Big Ten Conference Oensive

    Player of the Week for his performance in Iowa’s 40-10 win at No.

    20 Northwestern.

    Wadley led Iowa’s offense with 204 rushing yards on 26

    aempts. He ed a single-game Iowa record with four rushing

    touchdowns, becoming the seventh Hawkeye to accomplish the

    feat. The 204 rushing yards es as the 14th best single-game total

    in school history, as Wadley established career bests in rushing

    aempts, yards and touchdowns.

    The Big Ten honor is the second weekly honor for Wadley. He

    was recognized as Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Nov. 3, 2014

    aer rushing 15 mes for 106 yards and a touchdown in a 48-

    win over Northwestern in Kinnick Stadium.

       JOE MOORE AWARD COMES KNOCKING

      Iowa’s oensive line has been named a seminalist for the JoMoore Award, which honors oensive line units that display a hig

    level of toughness, eort, teamwork, physicality, tone seng an

    nishing. The Joe Moore Award winner will be announced ae

    the conclusion of the regular season.

    The Hawkeyes earned a “Game Ball” from the Joe Moore Awar

    following wins at Iowa State and against Pi.

      At Iowa State, Iowa’s oense rushed for 260 yards, averagin

    5.8 yards per rushing aempt. Iowa controlled the fourth quarte

    with 10:55 in possession me, scoring two touchdowns in the na

    2:14 to earn the road win.

      Against Pi, the Hawkeyes owned more than a ve minut

    advantage in me of possession and allowed just one sack, allowin

    QB C.J. Beathard to throw for then-career bests in compleon(27), aempts (40), and yards (258).

      Iowa has rushed for over 200 yards in seven games. Th

    Hawkeye oense has six touchdown drives over 90 yards and 18

    touchdowns drives over 75 yards. Iowa has scored over 30 point

    in ve straight games for the rst me ever.

    Iowa’s oensive line includes center Ausn Blythe, tackles Col

    Croston, Boone Myers and Ike Boeger, and guards Sean Welsh

    and Jordan Walsh. Blythe and Walsh are seniors, while Myers

    Boeger and Welsh are sophomores. True freshman James Daniel

    has rotated in at the guard posions, and lled in at right tackle

    vs. Illinois.

    The Joe Moore Award is named after Joe Moore, widely

    regarded as one of the best oensive line coaches in college footba

    history, and is the only major college football award to honor

    unit.

      KOEHN EARNS BIG TEN HONOR

      Senior K Marshall Koehn was named Big Ten Conference Specia

    Teams Player of the Week for his performance in Iowa’s 27-24 wi

    over Pisburgh on Sept. 19.

    The Big Ten honor is the rst for Koehn (6-foot, 200-pounds),

    senior from Solon, Iowa (Solon HS). He is one of two Hawkeyes t

    earn a weekly conference honor this season (QB C.J. Beathard vs

    Iowa State). He is the rst Iowa kicker to earn the special team

    award since Mike Meyer was recognized following a 19-16 double

    overme win at Michigan State in 2012.

      Koehn delivered the winning margin against Pisburgh a

    he booted a 57-yard eld goal as me expired. The kick ed the

    Kinnick Stadium record for longest eld goal (Lee Pistor, Arizona

    1977) and ranks as the second longest in Iowa history (58 yards

    Tim Douglas at Illinois, 1998). With a 52-yard kick in the 24-20 wi

    at Pisburgh in 2014, Koehn now has two of the nine longest el

    goals in Iowa history. It was the rst walk-o eld goal for Iow

    football since Rob Houghtlin connected from 41 yards to win the

    1986 Holiday Bowl.

    Iowa State Trooper and Nurse to Be Recognized at Hy-Vee Heroes Game forSaving a Man's Life in the Middle of Interstate 35

    “Citizen Heroes” will be recognized during halftime of theIowa Hawkeyes versus Nebraska Cornhuskers football game 

    DES MOINES, IA, Monday, November 23, 2015 — An Iowa State Trooper and a nurse will be

    honored Friday, November 27, for putting their lives at risk to save a stranger’s life in the middleof Interstate 35 near Des Moines. Trooper Tracy Bohlen of Waukee and Nurse Jane McCurdy of

     Ankeny will be recognized as Iowa’s 2015 “citizen heroes” during halftime of the Hy-Vee HeroesGame this Friday, when the Iowa Hawkeyes take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers at MemorialStadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. Bohlen and McCurdy will be joined on the field by Kassee Jonesof Bennington, Nebraska, who will be recognized as Nebraska’s 2015 “citizen hero.”

    Trooper Tracy Bohlen and Jane McCurdy: On April 26, 2015, Patrick Roark started having aseizure while driving through Iowa on Interstate 35. His 15-year-old son was somehow able toput the car in park. Iowa State Trooper Tracy Bohlen, not knowing what to expect, rushed to thescene and pulled Roark out of the vehicle to give him CPR in the middle of the busy interstate.Nurse Jane McCurdy happened to be driving by when she saw the incident and quickly ran over

    to assist. McCurdy not only helped at the scene, but she comforted the driver’s son when hisdad was taken to the hospital. McCurdy remained with the boy until his mother arrived fromOklahoma. Roark has since recovered, thanks to the actions of Iowa State Trooper TracyBohlen and Nurse Jane McCurdy. 

    Kassee Jones: On June 15, 2015, Kassee Jones spent the first day of summer camp workingas a lifeguard at Camp Legacy in Omaha. Kassee noticed a 6-year-old boy not moving in thesouth end of the pool. Jones, an American Red Cross trained lifeguard, quickly responded. Shepulled him out of the water and performed five to six rescue breaths to save his life. Jones’father, a volunteer firefighter, was the first responder to the incident. The boy was transported toChildren’s Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha and was later released to go home to his family.

    “Tracy, Jane and Kassee exemplify what it means to be a hero,” said Leslie Schaffer, RegionalExecutive for the American Red Cross serving Greater Iowa. “Their life-saving actions definewhy the American Red Cross, Hy-Vee, the University of Iowa and the University of Nebraskapartner together each year to showcase remarkable people in both states.”

    Trooper Bohlen, McCurdy, Jones and members of their families will be guests of the Hawkeyesand the Huskers at Friday’s game and will participate in a variety of special pregame activities.Randy Edeker, chairman, CEO and president of Hy-Vee, Inc., will present a $100,000 check tothe American Red Cross just before kickoff to help support the important work of the Red Crossin Nebraska and Iowa. Then, during halftime of the Hy-Vee Heroes Game, Athletic DirectorsGary Barta of the University of Iowa and Shawn Eichorst of the University of Nebraska will makea special presentation to the Hy-Vee Heroes Game honorees. The honorees’ names also willeventually be inscribed on the Hy-Vee Heroes Game trophy. 

    Earlier this year, fans of both schools were invited to nominate residents of Iowa and Nebraskawho performed extraordinary acts of heroism and service in their communities for the “citizenhero” award. Staff and volunteers from the Red Cross selected the winners.
