The National Hemophilia Foundation is sponsoring a medical conference to examine the role of liver disease in the hemophilia community. The conference is cosponsored by George Washington University.

Liver disease in hemophilia, most often the result of chronic hepatitis infection, is a major health concern for the nation's 20,000 people with hemophil ia--a genetic blood clotting disorder. Experts estimate that 90% of all people with hemophilia test positive for hepatitis C.

This conference will explore the natural history of hepatitis infections, current epidemiology, transfusion safety, diagnosis and t reatment issues, and HIV coinfection with hepatitis and liver disease.
