Notional Concept for Naomi Hollander.

Upon arrival, visitors are welcomed with an open, spacious entry. Reception is easily visible from the entry doors to ensure new patients will immediately feel at ease knowing they are in the correct place. With Reception being located adjacent to the entry, check in will be simple with the flow onto the waiting room being direct. The spacious waiting room will accommodate many patients with out feeling cramped and is located far enough away from reception that staff will be able to conduct conversations with patients in person and on the phone without fear of being overheard. The PM office is located close to reception but has full privacy. There is also a dedicated children’s space discreetly tucked in the far end of the waiting room. The floor plan design includes full accessibility for disabled visitors and allows for efficient flow for staff and visitors through the practice. The flow also takes into consideration recent changes brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic; social distancing can be easily implemented at anytime. The corridors therefore have been designed to allow for a one-way circular entry / exit flow. This will reduce collision in corridors. A small secondary waiting space adjacent to the entry doors can be dedicated to those waiting after their appointment is complete; either waiting to pay or for transport to leave and also can be utilized for pathology patients.

Arriving at the Medical Centre, visitors will be welcomed by immediately being able to see friendly staff at reception. This will give ease of knowing they are in the right place and have no confusion finding where to check in. The reception counter will be elegant and simplistic with smooth curves, it will immediately epitomise professionalism. Staff will have a ergonomic and comfortable workspace, suitable for accommodating up to 3 staff members. The PM office is located off reception in a stylish glazed room. This will allow the PM an important viewport but also keep the entry feeling as open and spacious as possible. A privacy graphic will be added to glazing with a design customised to complement corporate colours and logo design. In the waiting room, natural materials and colour tones have been selected to produce a calming, relaxed environment. With a spacious waiting room there is the ability to provide varied seating options; from bariatric seating to ottomans for families with small children allowing them to be able to be seated together. These various seating options ensure that all patients and their families will feel comfortable, welcomed and reassured. A stunning feature pendant light and feature bulkhead ceilings will add a wow factor to the space that will leave a strong impression. Wall cladding with feature colour blocking provides a soft, residential touch that will subconsciously put patients at ease in the waiting space.

Notional Concept – Consult Room

The consult room personifies friendly professionalism through choice of colour and materials. Rooms are uncluttered and use of carpet flooring provides comfort under foot and aides in acoustics. Colour scheme and material choices carry through from the front of house ensuring continuity of design. Consult rooms have, in the most part, been oriented along the exterior wall allowing for natural light and exterior views; so important to wellbeing of occupants.

The treatment room, whilst being utilitarian and designed with the most pragmatic function in mind, will also continue the welcoming design elements already seen throughout. Best practise with regards to hygiene and cleanliness will be achieved without the environment feeling too clinical. The steri room is located away from sight with ample storage and working bench space. The nurse triage is located adjacent to the main room for more private consultations.
