Dear ASHRAE Pune Patrons, Our Flagship Program PARC—2014 (Pune Airconditioning

& Refrigeration Conference) was conducted on 7th No-

vember 2014. The function was inaugurated by Padmashree,

Padmabhushan, Padmavibhushan Dr. K. H. Sancheti. The

Program was conducted at Hotel Westin, Koregaon Park,

Pune.

Professor Rane & Mr. Ashish Rakheja were the speaker, and Daikin, Armacell & Air Products had partnered the function.

The first Panel Discussion was organized for Green Buildings and its relevance in Indian Scenario. The function was attend-

ed by 189 patrons, from our community.

Dr. K. H. Sancheti delivered the key note address on “Air in Medical Field” & “Importance of Exercise & Fitness”, it was real-

ly well received and riveting session for the gathering. Prof. Rane delivered lecture in 2 sessions on “Some Opportunities for

Energy Conservation in HVAC&R”. Mr. Ashish Rakheja delivered a lecture on - “Energising Water : Relationship

between Energy and Water in High Performance Buildings” . A Panel discussion was conducted on “Green Build-

ings & Its Relevance In Indian Scenario”. The Panelist were Arch. Rajiv Sapre, Ms. Reshu Singh (LEEDS AP), Engr.

Vinayak Vaidya (Consultant) & Mr. Sachin Thite (Client—Atlas Copco). As per our tradition, we also felicitated people from

the HVAC&R Industry who have completed 25 years in HVAC&R industry.

Students Branch Installation @ PVPIT Bavdhan, Pune

ASHRAE Pune Chapter Installed its 3 Students Branch at PVPIT Bavdhan, Pune. The Installation cere-

mony was conducted on 20th December 2014.

The installation, oath ceremony was followed by a guidance

session and Lunch. The entire ASHRAE Pune Chapter BOG

had attended the program. The ASHRAE BOG Training was

also conducted on the same day in the morning session at

PVPIT, Bavdhan. The BOG thanked the Principal and Manage-

ment for providing the facilities. Special efforts were put in by

Prof. Sardar Sheikh & Prof. Ayub Tamboli, the Students Activity

Chair & Co-Chair.

APPEAL TO ASHRAE MEMBERS

ASHRAE Pune Chapter has started an initiative to compile the Bio Data of all the student members of its chapter. The initiative is started to benefit the Industry and the student members. All the data is available with the Students Activity Chair, Membership Promotion Chair & Co-Chair.

All ASHRAE member who wish to recruit new trainees, are requested to avail of the data readily avail-able. These students are from the HVAC&R filed and they are well versed with the basics in HVAC&R.

ASHREA Pune Chapter conducted a Cricket Tournament as part of the Sports Day event on 21st December 2014 at Poona Club, Camp Pune.

This was the first time in ASHRAE Pune Chapter history, that a social event was conducted for all

HVAC&R personnel from the lowest to highest level in the Industry hierarchy.

A total 7 teams participated in the tournament, 1. ASHRAE Pune Chapter 2. Parag Marketing 3. Everest

Systems 4. Safe Air Engineers 5. Harmony Aircon 6. Blue Star Limited 7. Daikin Airconditioning Ltd.,

The Tournament was won by M/s Everest Systems and the Runner-up were M/s Safe Air Engineers. The

Best Disciplined Team was M/s Parag Marketing & M/s Harmony Aircon was judged as the Best Sports-

manship team. Prices for Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Best Fielder & Best All Rounder were given.

All teams were provided 7 different coloured dresses, Breakfast & Lunch. The event was conducted on a

No Profit & No Loss basis. Many member joined in with their families to enjoy the day out. Special Tanks

to Mr. Umesh Pillai for complete assistance in Organising the event, and coordinating with Poona Club.

PROJECT GRANT:

ASHRAE Pune Chapter had applied for project grant / funding to ASHRAE HQ in December. A total of 4 pro-

jects were applied, and we are proud to mention that we have received grant for 2 Projects of PVPIT Students

Branch.

This development is a first for ASHRAE Pune Chapter. And we are proud to mention that we have added an-

other feather in our cap. The projects that have received the grant are:

1. Development and performance analysis of solar powered solid adsorption refrigeration system with com-

posite adsorbent for Indian tropical conditions,” – for Funding amount of $2620.

2. “Design and development of thermoelectric refrigerator for educational purpose,” for Funding amount of

$2325.

ASHRAE Pune Chapter donated $2100.00 last year to R P Fund, and has received a Grant of $4945.00

for 2 project mentioned below.

ASHRAE Pune Chapter has set a goal to collect R P Funds for $2400.00, out of which $600.00 has al-

ready been transferred, and our chapter has already received the Full Circle for R P Contribution for the

year 2014-15.

Vide this news letter we appeal to all ASHRAE members to wholeheartedly contribute towards R P Fund.
