Temposonics® MH 200’’ for lifting cylinders and boom cylinders
The sensor is extremely rugged and robust – like all sensors of the Temposonics® MH-series. It detects positions reliably, even under harsh environmental conditions. The magnetostrictive technology ensures non-contact position measurement and leads to a sensor free of wear and tear.
The new Temposonics® MH 200’’ with an extended stroke length from 2500 mm to 5000 mm is a magnetostrictive position sensor for in-cylinder-integration. In particular, this range is suitable for lifting cylinders with a stroke of up to 5000 mm (200 inches), e.g. for controlling the telescopic arm position of telescopic loaders and working platforms. The device is presently the longest position sensor for displacement measurement integrated in the hydraulic cylinders of mobile machines.
Applications:
Telehandler, operating platforms etc.

The Measurable Difference
The PrinciPleMagnetostriction - A Milestone in Measurement Technology
The heart of MTS sensors is the ferromagnetic measuring element, also known as the waveguide, and a movable position magnet that generates a direct-axis magnetic field in the waveguide. When a current or inter rogation pulse passes through the waveguide, a second magnetic field is created radially around the waveguide. The interaction between the magnetic field in the waveguide and the magnetic field produced by the position magnet generates a strain pulse which travels at a constant ultrasonic speed from its point of generation, the measurement point, to the end of the waveguide where it is transformed into an electric pulse in the sensor element. The resulting signal is processed by the specialized electronics of the Temposonics sensor. With our extensive
know-how of ferromagnetic materials, magnetic effects and ultrasonic processes, MTS remains unrivalled in performance standards for non-contacting position measurement of the highest precision.
The cOMPAnYThe World of MTS - Precision and reliability
Following the founding of MTS Systems Corpo-ration in 1951, the company rapidly developed into a leading supplier of intelligent hardware and software products in the fields of testand simulation systems and in measuring and automation technology. Today MTS SystemsCorporation has over 2.200 employees worldwi-de – 360 of whom are employed by MTSSensors at three sites in the USA (cary, n.c.), Germany (lüdenscheid) and Japan (Tokyo).
At MTS, intensive basic research is efficiently merged with a consistent focus on practical re-quirements. The results are innovative solutions for a wide range of potential industrial and non-industrial applications.

About MTS Sensors
Meeting the needs of OEMs in off-highway markets
About the MTS Sensors integration PARTNER program
To meet the needs
of OEMs in the off-
highway markets for rugged, reliable
and affordable embedded sensor
solutions, MTS Sensors has created
an industry partnership program for
the integration of its Temposonics
sensors in hydraulic cylinders for
off-highway applications. The MTS
Integration PARTNER program brings
together the
position-
sensing
technology
and expertise
of MTS
Sensors
with best-in-class hydraulic cylinder
manufacturers worldwide, enabling
cost- and performance-optimized
“smart cylinder” designs. OEMs
that are developing new control
applications on their machines now
have access to a well-developed
partnership with expertise in both
electrical sensing and hydraulics
design. The result is a faster
development cycle with a cost-
optimized solution.
As part of the program,
MTS Sensors provides
application consulting in terms of
sensors and motion control to the
OEM, while the integration partners
bring expertise in cylinder design
and sensor integration. With this
collaborative partnership we can focus
on bringing a
total solution
to the OEM
that meets
cost targets.
Benefits of this
collaboration
are already evident in stream lined
interaction with OEMs and the reduc-
tion of system integration costs. As
relationships with integration partners
have developed and volumes have
increased, dramatic improvements in
integration costs and overall “smart
cylinder” pricing has been achieved.
MTS Sensors, a division of the
MTS Systems Corporation based in
Minneapolis (Minnesota) in the United
States of America, is a global leader in
the field of magnetostrictive position
and liquid level measuring technology.
Today, from locations in Germany
(Lüdenscheid), the United States (Cary,
North Carolina), and Japan (Tokyo),
360 employees develop, produce, and
distribute linear position and liquid-
level sensors based on patented MTS
Temposonics technology.
Meeting the needs of our customers
In addition to the research and de-
velopment of innovative and individual
sensors for a variety of applications
in industrial and mobile hydraulics,
MTS Sensors is constantly seeking
opportunities to improve so that we can
provide the best possible value to our
customers.
