Positive Referral Program

Congress Middle School believes in rewarding student success, not only in aca-

demics but also in Social Emotional Learning and good citizenship. This is why

we have started our Positive Referral Program. A teacher, Administrator or Staff

member can write a student a positive referral for doing the right things and being

a good citizen. The students will be recognized in front of their peers in the morn-

ing announcements, and will receive a call home stating what a great job they are

doing. They will also have the opportunity to select a gift from our gift room.

Each week two of the students will be randomly selected to receive a lunch out-

side of the cafeteria.

At Congress Middle School, we believe in preparing our young men to be life-long learners as well as high school, college and career ready. Subsequent to this, we have created a mentoring group called Young Men of Distinction. In this

group, young men will learn the value of having self-respect, confidence, respon-sibility and many other life-changing qualities. Often times all that is needed to produce success is belonging to a group that is successful. Programs like these provide the type of environment for creating an atmosphere so they can thrive and gain self-confidence.
