Novena to Saint Joseph

Pray each day for nine days, at the end of each day’s prayers and devotions.

Saint Joseph, I, your unworthy child, greet you. You are the faithful

protector and intercessor of all who love and venerate you. You know that I have special confidence in you and that, after Jesus and Mary, I

place all my hope of salvation in you, for you are especially powerful with God and will never abandon your faithful servants. Therefore I humbly

invoke you and commend myself, with all who are dear to me and all that belong to me, to your intercession. I beg of you, by your love for Jesus

and Mary, not to abandon me during life and to assist me at the hour of my death.

Glorious Saint Joseph, spouse of the Immaculate Virgin, obtain for me a pure, humble, charitable mind, and perfect resignation to the divine Will. Be my guide, my father, and my model through life that I may merit to

die as you did in the arms of Jesus and Mary.

Loving Saint Joseph, faithful follower of Jesus Christ, I raise my heart to you to implore your powerful intercession in obtaining from the Divine

Heart of Jesus all the graces necessary for my spiritual and temporal welfare, particularly the grace of a happy death, and the special grace I

now implore:

Prayer to Saint Joseph

O Joseph, Holy Guardian of Jesus and Mary, Assist us by Thy prayers in all the necessities of life.

Ask of Jesus that special grace, Which He granted to thee,

To watch over our home at the pillow of the sick and dying, So that with Mary and with thee,

Heaven may find our family unbroken in the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Amen

Short Prayer to Saint Joseph

Be mindful of us, O blessed Joseph, And intercede for us with thy foster-Son by the pleading of thy prayer:

Do thou, in like manner, render the blessed Virgin Mary thy Spouse, gracious onto us,

For she is the Mother of Him, who with the Father and the Holy Ghost liveth and reigneth world without end.

Ancient Prayer to Saint Joseph

This prayer is reputed to have been found in 50AD. In 1505 it was sent from the Pope to the Emperor Charles when he was going into battle. It is

said that whoever shall read this prayer, or hear it, or keep it about themselves; shall never die a sudden death, or be drowned, nor shall

poison take effect on them. Neither shall they fall into the hands of the enemy, or be burned in any fire, or overpowered in battle.

Oh, St Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God,

I place in you all my interest and desires. Oh, St Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession,

and obtain for me from your divine Son all spiritual blessings, through Jesus Christ, out Lord.

So that, having engages here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fathers.

Oh, St Joseph, I never weary contemplating you, and Jesus asleep in your arm;

I dare not approach while he reposes near your heart. Press Him in my name and kiss His find head for me

and ask Him to return the Kiss when I draw my dying breath. St Joseph, patron of departing souls

Prayer to Saint Joseph by Pope Pius X

O Glorius St. Joseph, model of all who are devoted to labour, obtain for me the grace to work in the spirit of penance in expiation of my many

sins; to work conscientiously by placing love of duty above my inclinations; to gratefully and joyously deem it an honor to employ and

to develop by labour the gifts I have received from God, to work methodically, peacefully, and in moderation and patience, without ever

shrinking from it through weariness or difficulty to work; above all, with purity of intention and unselfishness, having unceasingly before my eyes

death and the account I have to render time lost, talents unused, good not done, and vain complacency in success, so baneful to the work of

God. All for Jesus, all for Mary, all to imitate thee, O Patriarch St. Joseph! This shall be my motto for life and eternity.

Prayer to Saint Joseph for Protection

To thee, O Blessed Joseph, we have recourse in our tribulations, and while imploring the aid of thy most holy Spouse, we confidently invoke thy

patronage also. By that love which united thee to the Immaculate Virgin, Mother of God, and by the fatherly affection with which thou didst

embrace the Infant Jesus, we humbly beseech thee graciously to regard the inheritance which Jesus Christ purchased with His Blood and to help

us in our necessities, by thy powerful intercession.

Protect, Oh most provident Guardian of the Holy Family, the chosen children of Jesus Christ; ward off from us, O most loving Father, all taint of error and corruption; graciously assist us from Heaven, O most power protector, in our struggle with the powers of darkness; and as thou didst

once rescue the Child Jesus from imminent peril to His life, so now defend the Holy Church of God from the snares of her enemies and from

all adversity.

Shield each one of us with thy unceasing patronage that, imitating thy example and sported by thy aid, we may be enabled to live a good life, die

a holy death, and secure everlasting happiness in Heaven. Amen

Memorare to Saint Joseph

Remember, O most pure Spouse of the Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph, my beloved patron, that never has it been heard that anyone invoked thy

patronage and sought thine aid without being comforted. Inspired by this confidence, I come to thee and fervently commend myself too thee.

Despise not my petition, dear foster-father of our Redeemer, but accept it graciously.
