NSB 72 Powder Metal Alloy
NanoSteel NSB 72 is a nanostructured powder metal steel alloy
featuring extreme hardness and excellent wear resistance with salt
fog corrosion and excellent pitting resistance. The hot hardness
approaches cemented tungsten carbide/cobalt composites.
The spherical morphology of this powder results in an excellent
packing factor for producing high density nished parts with high
dimensional tolerance control.
The micron-sized powders are centrifugally or gas atomized and are
commonly consolidated by MIM, Additive Manufacturing, HIP or other
processes.

NSB 72 has low resistance to intergranular attack6 in comparison to 304L and 316L.
Intergranular Corrosion
6 ASTM A262 Method B and C
NSB 72 cyclic potentiodynamic polarization7 (CPP) curves demonstrate higher corrosion resistance than 304L and 316L stainless steel. The CPP curve shows a small amount of hysteresis which indicates that very little permanent damage (e.g. pitting) occurs during the test.
