NSBE MCMASTER CHAPTER
Greetings,
We would like to invite you to partner with us, the National Society of Black Engineers McMaster
Chapter, to train the next generation of Canadian leaders and to promote excellence in engineering
across the country.
The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) was originally founded in 1975 in the United States
of America. Since then the organization has grown globally to over 35,000 active members. In 1991,
the first Canadian NSBE chapter was formed outside of the United States in Montreal, QC at McGill
University. In 2009, NSBE McMaster was officially introduced to the university as a McMaster
Engineering Affiliate and in 2016 NSBE McMaster officially became a McMaster Engineering
Group.
NSBE McMaster continues to make strides to increase our impact across the GTHA with our many
programs, conferences and development of chapters at not just the collegiate, but also the pre-
collegiate and alumni levels. As we grow as an organization, we would like to cordially invite you to
share in our mission to ‘increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers, who excel
academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community’.
We encourage you to take the time to review this document and learn of the many opportunities in
which you and your organization can partner with us to create a mutually beneficial arrangement that
will make a positive impact on the Canadian community.
Thank you and we look forward to working with you in the near future!
Sincerely,
Ryan DeRiggs
2018-2019 President
National Society of Black Engineers McMaster Chapter.

The Hunt 2019
What is THE HUNT: The National Society of Black Engineers is proud to present THE HUNT 2019. The HUNT is focused on the amalgamation of three major areas needed by students to succeed beyond their learning environment in the professional world. Students will have the opportunity to have their resume critiqued by industry professionals. In addition, they will sharpen their communication skills by participating in mock interviews. Lastly, during our co-op experiences panel, they will get first hand advice from previous co-op students on how to apply, secure and succeed on the job. This year, we’re also looking at having an employer’s showcase. This would allow students to interact and network with industry professionals while learning about company culture, current projects and hiring opportunities. At the end we hope to have impacted, educated and equipped students academically and professionally. When & Where: The event will take place on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the University Club at McMaster University. We are expecting over 150 students from McMaster University and other tertiary institutions in Hamilton such as Mohawk College.

We strongly encourage companies to provide engineers, mentors, HR personnel and/or recruitment teams on the day of the event, as these are the best ways to interact closely with students and make their experience a memorable one. Students are more likely to be interested in working for a company after meeting amazing individuals with a true passion for what they do. Companies may also be encouraged to bring company swag (i.e. t-shirts, water bottles, etc.) NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES The Hunt provides a great opportunity for industry representatives to network with McMaster students who will soon move into industry themselves. In addition, if you choose to be a GOLD sponsor, you will have access to the resume of all students in attendance of the event. Scope out future leaders before the interview process has even begun!
PROMOTING DIVERSITY While the Hunt is a professional development event for McMaster students, it also helps to promote diversity within the industry by bringing together professionals from different backgrounds and experiences. OUTREACH AND EXPOSURE Through print, social media, and our website, your company’s brand will reach thousands of McMaster students. This allows our members and other students to become more familiar with your company’s culture, values, and goals.

Sponsorship Levels
As mentioned above, we are a student-run organization. Hosting an event of this magnitude comes with some inherent costs. In attempts to offset the general costs, we’ve created a small sponsorship package providing benefits for businesses willing to invest more than their time.
