Think Gun Magazine Capacity, Voter ID, Green Energy, Immigration, ObamaCare, the EPA, spending more money on Social Justice programs and increasing the U.S. Debt How do we fix Am erica? Is there a solutio n?   Steve Laffey was elected mayor of Cranston, RI as they were on the brink of bankruptcy. Two years later, the town had a budget surplus thanks to his ideas. How did he do it? Can those principles be applied to America? Join us on Saturday morning, December 13 th  to hear Steve explain his ideas and answer your questions. The doors open at 8:30am with the meeting from 9:00am-11:00am. Admission is $3 for NSRF members and $5 for non-members. Plus, we're asking everyone to bring at least two cans of food that we will donate to the COFU Food Bank. Best of all, we're having breakfast burritos from Santiago s along with coffee, bottled water, fruit, and homemade pastries. Steve Laffey was elected mayor of Cranston, Rhode Island, in 2002, and reelected by the widest margin in Cranston history in 2004. Before entering politics he had had a successful career in finance, including a stint as president and COO of Morgan Keegan, an investment bank in Memphis. He's written books, produced a DVD, and ran for political office. Who is COFU? Community of Faith United originated from a coalition of Christian Faith based Organizations and local governments in th e north metro Denver cities of Thornton, Northglenn, Federal Heights, Westminster and Broomfield as well as areas of unincorporated Adams County.  April 11 -- Local Board of Education members update us on what's happening in theirdistricts & why a quality education is essential for our children

May 9 -- Former State Senator Shawn Mitchell analyzes the 2015 Colorado Legislativesession with what was, or was not, accomplished. 

June 13 -- Your local City Council members update us on what's happening in theircities and will answer your questions 

July 11 -- Penn Pfiffner of The TABOR Foundation discusses what TABOR  is, how it works, and why Colorado is unique because of it. 

 August 8 -- RTD Directors Larry Hoy & Lorraine Anderson update uson FasTracks and mass transportation issues in the north metro area

September 12 – Marilyn Marks explains what Election Integrity  is, why it affects you,and how you can get involved for fair and honest elections.

Who is this person named Shawn Mitchell?

He was elected to Senate District 23 in the Colorado General Assembly in November of 2004. Shawn is anattorney at private practice in Denver and Adams County.

Previously, Shawn served as Special Counsel to the Attorney General, where he was a legal policy advisorand one of the top aides to former Colorado Attorney General Gale Norton. In that position, Shawn worked on

significant constitutional litigation, including the Amendment 2 case and First Amendment litigation on issues ofchurch and state.

Shawn also represented Colorado in fighting criminal appeals in the Colorado Court of Appeals and the

Supreme Court. Shawn is a former Senior Fellow at the Independence Institute, a conservative and free-market think tank in Denver, CO. He continues to write and speak often on public policy issues.

Shawn is the president of the Colorado Chapter of the Federalist Society, a national organization of scholars, judges, and lawyers that promotes limited government and legal reform. He also served 3 years on the Denver

Rocky Mountain News Board of Editorial Contributors.
