Halloween Protection 1. Keep your PC from be-coming a “haunted house”.

1. Keep PC security software updated: Having yoursecurity software, web browser, operating system andother software updated automatically are the key (andbest) defenses against viruses, malware, and other on-line threats.

2. Security scan all plug-ins: Those “USBs” or thumbdrives and other little “computer type trinkets” that allowyou to copy or exchange data with friends may actuallybe hidden nasty pumpkins if infected by viruses and oth-er malware. Beware if they were used on another PC –always use your security software to scan and checkthem before using anything contained in them.

3. Protect all your digital devices that connect to theInternet: Don’t forget that your smart phones, gamingsystems, and other Internet-enabled devices also need

protection from online “trick or treat”threats.

Halloween Protection 2.Keep your Personal Infor-mation protected from the“Headless Horseman andother Goblins”.

1. Always protectyour accounts: Ask for

protection beyondpasswords. Manyaccount providers now

offer additional ways for

you verify who you are before you conduct business(think credit card, bank account, etc.) on their web-site.

2. Always make passwords strong. Long, and unique:Passwords are not the best way to keep safe (But it maybe the only way you have available). Combine capitaland lowercase letters with numbers and symbols tocreate a long, strong, and unique password or use aunique phrase or title of some book and always use thedifferent passwords (did I mention always) on each ofyour accounts.

3. Write down your most used on a sticky and put it onthe back of your drivers license: Everyone can forgeta password but most people protect their driverslicense. Always keep a list that’s stored in a safe, secureplace away from your computer – (like at home).

4. Change the passwords every six months: Changingpasswords of your most sensitive accounts frequentlywill help you protect yourself if your account numberwas stolen before you were notified by a business thatsuffered a large-scale breach like Target, Home Depot, etc.

5. Armor your personal websites: When available, set theprivacy and security settings on personal websites toyour personal comfort level for information and picturesharing. It’s really ok to limit with who you shareinformation, the old rule is “remember that onlineinformation should be considered the front page of thenewspaper” – everyone may see it if it is left unlockedby accident or stolen and republished by one of theheadless hackers.

The Headless Horseman Lurks: Go online withcare.

1. The horseman could be “bank robber”: When bankingand shopping, always check to be sure the sites issecurity enabled. Look for web addresses with “https://”or “shttp://”, which means the site takes extra measuresto help secure your information – it the “s” in “https://”that means secure.

2. Beware of the unexpected: Links in email, tweets, posts, and online advertising are often the way cybercriminalshack your Internet device. If it looks suspicious, even ifyou think you know the source (it could be spoofed), itsbest to delete, or if appropriate, mark as junk email.Remember- Legitimate firms do not ask for yourpersonal information over the internet – Protect yourselfand always telephone the phone number you know, notone contained in any email.

2. Wi-Fi hotspots can be dangerous: Sometimes they maybe plagued by “drive-by ambushes” by the thievinggoblins in another chair looking for personal information;Limit the type of business you conduct and adjust the

security software settings on your internet device to limitwho can access your machine.

Be Internet Smart and Help the fight against cybercrime- You are a key member of the Internet Neigh-borhood Watch program:

Just a hint of

When choosing a color for a special event do you first thinkof a color that fits you or do you keep in mind a color thatwill represent you well when giving a good first impression?

Many people will have their signature color that they canalways be seen in or associated with, like a brand. When you

want to stand out consider the psychology of a color, butmost importantly, how you wear the color.

For instance, if you choose a color like red to stand and it’s the wrong fit, style or accentuates the an un-favorable body part than you may have failed to execute the look, but you will definitely be remem-bered. In fact, you may have just given yourself an identifier.

Believe it or not color features in fashion have a strong psychologywhen I comes to making a good or lasting impression. While red isnormally a bold stand out color for an interview, displaying passionand a love for the job it can also be the type of color that gives inter-viewers the impression that you are a showman. You want to beseen doing good deeds but will you be just as good when the author-ity is not watching. Will you be a team player or will you be a ‘Look atME’ kind of staff member? Red for many employers is an alert toavoid this person. So choosing a red accent for a more conservativecolor rather than red dress or skirt suit might be your answer if yousignature color must be red.

“Did you seen Daphne yesterday?”“Daphne, who?”

“She was the one with the big ca-boose in the bright red skirt”

Consider blue for a moment. It may seem more masculine, at first, but blue is identified with those who serve and protect. The univer-sal symbol for hospital, even if the symbol is shaped differently ismore often than not attached to the color blue. Many security com-panies, like ADT, Brinks and Protection One choose blue for theirlogo or in their advertising to show you that they can be trusted, just like the blue or navy blue uniforms officers are accustomed towear for duty. This gives you the impression that you are safe withthem. Choose us we are loyal and safe.

Blue is the color of trust and likes familiarity. Sinceblue is the color of the sky and sea it is often associ-ated with depth and stability; while symbolizingfaith, truth, confidences and all things heavenly, ofcourse.

It may seem silly but according to Philip Ball, the au-thor of ‘Bright Earth, Art and the invention

of Color’ many artist at the beginning ofthe 20th century recognized the emo-

tional power of blue, making it thecentral element of many of their

art pieces. During his blue period,Picasso used blue with shades ofgreen and other warm colors tocreate a more melancholy mood

in his paintings.

Internationally, the color blue is used as the national color to symbolize sanctuary or homefor places like; Argentina, El Salvador, Greece, Finland, Guatemala, Honduras, Israel, Scotland,Somalia and so many more. While blue serves as a huge identifier in poli-tics it is also used to identify a type of law used to enforce religiousstandards, as well as in observance of Sunday as a day of worship orrest; which allows businesses to remain closed in observance.

If you are into the relating an energy to a color, the color blue isknown as the throat chakra. Many believe that wearing preciousstones of this color, like; sapphire, lapis lazuli, blue topaz, aqua-marine, turquoise or sodalite, can expand your throat chakra sothat you may always speak well and speak your truth. Since thiscolor is most associated with creativity and self-expression,Body workers, like Patricia Mercier, author of ‘the Chakra Bi-ble’, believes that this is a brilliant color to wear when youhave a speaking engagement.

When wearing shades of blue always consider you skin tone, aswell as, the style and fit. For the majority, navy blues and bolddark blues works well a variety of skin tones, hair color and styles. If the blue you choose is bright and bold then you may want totone it down with a few neutral accent colors like beige or taupe.Black or white also work well to frame the blue you choose.~

The concepts of shape or the act of gettinginto shape is clearly different for everyone. You can enhance the shape of your body butnot without habitually working to re-shapeyour environment, but most importantly, yourmind. A concept that Maryn Russell is painful-ly and personally familiar with. While competing for a pageant Maryn Russell made time to commit to hercommunity, arrange the best fashion choices for her and faithfully practiceon her stage presence. Since she decided to take a break from pageantsseveral years before, Maryn knew she had to work to get her mind backinto competition mode. With her daily activities multiplying Maryn rarelyhad down time to commit to her physical appearance or nutrition.

Ironically, while in college seeking an education in nutrition and businessmanagement, Maryn was unable maintain a healthy routine or eating hab-its. Taking for granted that she made, at least, a basic effort not to carry

too much weight, Maryn didn’t realize the condition of her body was an is-sue until comments from a trusted mentor hit home.

Admitting that she could have spent more time on toning, Maryn let thecomments get to her, causing her to give up on herself. After allowing timeto pass to forgive Maryn admitted to being mostly angry at herself for let-ting someone hurt her. Maryn has been in love with the field of pageantrysince she was very young. The pageant bug bit her when her mother, whowas photographing pageants at the time, let her tag along. Competing inpageants now a family affair, Maryn continued to compete until her senioryear in high school and retiring her crown of late as Miss Central Counties.

Page 21: NVP Mag Issue 7 2014-15

nvpmag.org ~ 21

Inching to do something in pageantry, even if it meant help-ing behind the scenes Maryn reached out to her pageant sis-ters. When a family member pointed out that with herpageant experience she could run her own pageant, Maryndismissed it as a joke, for a fleeting moment, until she real-ized the possibilities.

From the director side of the spectrum Maryn guided andcoached her delegates to build a great pageant experience,an experience she had been missing for a long time. Actingas a support system for girls that were super slim and halfher size was intriguing. Especially, since Maryn knew that asa co-delegate, she would never hear these beautiful younggirls talk about their bodies or performance so badly duringcompetition. Yet as a director Maryn would get many callsfrom her girls and found that part of her role as director wasto counsel her delegates to help them feel equally confidentabout presenting themselves on stage.

Yet as a director Maryn would get many calls

from her girls and found that part of her role as director wasto counsel her delegates to help them feel equally confidentabout presenting themselves on stage.

Did someone say something to those young girls that wouldmake them believe that they were anything other than amaz-ingly strong and beautiful? Maryn gave directing pageantsmost of her time. After 2 years directing the Miss Greater LasVegas and the Miss Clark County Pageants, encouragingyoung women to think better of themselves, and one yeardirecting the Miss UNLV Pageants, Maryn decided she want-ed to spend more time donating her services and volunteer-ing to promote fitness and nutrition to Nevada’s Youth.

Years of overcoming her insecurities while directing others toovercome theirs, Maryn felt it was time to set the example. So she registered for the MS Nevada United States pageant, this time, as the new MS Las Vegas. Eager to rebuild hersupport system to successfully reshape her mind, body and future as a publicservant, Maryn make sure she would make reshaping a consistent daily com-mitment.

When she thought of her reasons why she made sure that she felt the un-bearable nature of not reaching or maintaining her goal. With diseases of theheart and diabetes in her family’s history, Maryn chose to develop a fear ofnot being at her physical best. She knew that if she created positive habitsshe would be less likely to let her genetic medical history affect her body.

While this may seem like a lot of negatives, at first, Maryn understood thatthe end result would lead to a lot of positives. To shape the way we think wemust first understand what we will or will not do for whatever reason andmaintain that list of pros and cons as a source of motivation. What is impor-tant to you? What would you be willing to do daily to get and keep it? ForMaryn, that meant it would become unbearable for her to consider wastingtime in a doctor’s office waiting for results or having to take any type of medi-cation for the rest of her life. While she has a lot of compassion for those whoneed regular medicinal intervention, Maryn is now more willing to eating andexercising to prevent the onset of the diseases that run in her family. Whenyou are finally willing to make changes for the better the reshaping of yourmindset begins.

Inherited genes play a large part in the development of your body shape. De-termined to look and feel her best Maryn had to keep genetics in mind andchose to recruit a personal trainer to build and develop muscle tone rather

than other forms of exercise she did in the past. Once she understood thatdeveloping muscle was more successful than just slimming down, Marynpaid closer attention to the inches she lost and the muscles that were visuallyreveal themselves.

No longer, a victim to the scale, Maryn realized that when she focused on thesleeker contours of her body what she saw on the scale just didn’t matteranymore. She literally reshaping her body; fitting into clothes that, at first, she, could not see herself in.

It was hard to conceive, at times, that her weight on the scale was so com-paratively different from what she saw in the mirror. Exchanging muscle forfat can easily alter how outfits are worn.

Now that Maryn has mentally and physically altered the composition of herenvironment she is inspiring close friends and family to do the same. To sup-port her new lifestyle her family and friends decided to start a new traditionand consumed Maryn’s favorite entrée of Salmon and asparagus for goodluck the day before her competition.

Most of the women I know thin they look fat.Even those wearing single digit sizes like 2and 4 believe they have a big or chunky some-thing.

No matter what size we are we seem to findthe part of body’s we like the least andpick-peck it until it becomes a body partwe never show. You’d think with themany types of spandex under gear thatholds us in we would walk or glide withmore confidence.

And then there are those of us whowould rather wear yoga pants all daywith parachute like tops that give us

the illusion of thin when we could beenjoying the process of wearing clothes thatmake us feel good about ourselves.

We are so stuck on the numbers that weforget that sizes are generalized for thebrand. For instance, how many timeshave you gone shopping and got some-thing that fit you like a glove withoutthe shimmy shake pull-up and zipmoves? Or how many pairs of slacks

or jeans do you have that have asnug fit in front with more than an

inch gap in the back exposingyour lower just above the boo-tie? All fits are generalized for

their specific brand. ‘The Sis-terhood of the Travel Pants’

was a fictional flick. Unlessyour jeans have a cotton/

spandex blend it is veryunlikely that they willeasily fit 3 of yourfriends with obvious

differences in body type.

The truth is when it comes tothe outfits we choose towear the size has very littleto do with the fit. Don’tbelieve me? Shall I men-tion the one size fits allmyth? The way a garmentcompliments your figureshould be your ONLY con-cern. I know. You LOVEyour little number. Espe-cially, when you get toshare it with friends. “Oh,it’s a size 2.” Whatever!Get over it!

If the dress makes youlook like a stuffed ham, when you could look like a diva, will you moveto a size 6?

Body type and shape also makes a huge dif-ference in how each fit makes you look.

Do these pants make my butt look fat?

Page 30: NVP Mag Issue 7 2014-15

nvpmag.org ~ 30

Meaning, if you have broad shouldersa scoop neck sweater with a straightwaist will have you looking a lotleaner than a boat neck sweater thatcovers your butt.

There are also fits that flatter a vari-ety of shapes. The illusion dress wasdesign to create a curvy hour glasslook. When the look first became atrend fashionistas realized that thingirls looked just as good as curvy girlsin the styles. While the look mini-mized what stood out on the moreRubenesque woman the contrast oflight to dark on the illusion dress gavethe super thin girls a curvier look.

Another look to whittle the waistor give the illusion of curves ischoosing designs that have anhour glass shape to begin with.Mermaid dresses are most com-plimentary to minimize or create awaistline if the fit is fitting you well.Dresses and gown that have a gath-ered waist accent will also create ashapelier look.

If you are one of those who has a fearfor prints you are missing out. “Butprints make me look fat!” Sigh. Listenup, Lady! If you wear prints with compli-menting solids like a solid dark top thatcovers the waist with a floral print pencilskirt, you have a very flattering look.

Playing with ruffles or di-rectional details in the mid-section or the shirt can bevery complimentary to any

figure. Accent detailsaround the waistline willalso distract from a bellypouch and add curves to

thin frames.

Let’s say you have great legsbut you don't like to show yourarms and your waist may nothave the a V shaped contour

or a six pack.

A great way to add slim linesis to find a print that draws

attention to your most belovedassets; like your legs.

Retro prints with illu-sion formatting can

whittle any waistline ifused properly. Usingthe lines to guide theeye can offer a morefit look when with ba-

sic color choices.

The Fat Facts

Normal fat content for women is between 18 and 20%. This may seem ex-treme for the fat fearing ladies, but it’s true. THIS IS NORMAL. For obviousreasons, climate can influence fat distribution in women. In regions thatmigrate to the hotter side a majority of the time, studies have shown thatwomen hold more fat around the hips thighs or the gluteal region. In thecolder countries fat is distributed in a more uniform fashion, offeringmore cover to provide protection from cooler temperatures.

That being said, the lack of normal fat levels in women can lead to severehormonal issues, like amenorrhea and thyroid dysfunction. Women aresupposed to be soft and curvy. We sometimes forget that this is what ismost attractive about us. Realizing that most of us just want to look goodin what we wear, there are many less evasive ways to give the appearanceof smooth, tone and sexy thighs. While wearing complimentary attire willdefinitely keep us looking our best, we are all critical by nature and needroutines to keep us looking our best, even when we choose clothes thatdon’t work. This is for the girls who want the big secret to tone and thinthighs.

Now that we have skipped the drama of genetics, bounced into regionalinfluences and given the medical realities of what is actually normal, let’snow share what keeps those of us with natural thunder thighs fit.

The proper feeding of your thighs

First things, first. If you cannot live without your wine fix,you will have issues. When your liver is not functioning to

its highest capacity it does NOT release the fatty tox-ins so easily.

Our body expects natural fat to function. We needlube. If we deprive ourselves of fat, completelywe will make our bodies think it needs tocompensate. Use oils like coconut oil andolive oil sparingly. Investing in a pump ora non-aerosol oil mister rather than usingname brandaerosol substi-

tutes will give you abetter chance at ridding yourbody of fats and toxins.

Beginning the daywith warm waterand lemon juice, like a tea, will pre-pare your diges-tive system andhelps to flush toxinsfrom their hiding placeswithin the body. The naturaloccurring nutrients like fiber, vitamin C, calci-um and potassium also helps your body’s im-mune system. This blood purifying tonic balances your body’s pH levels, prevents the growth of bacteria and reduces inflammation by dissolvinguric acid build up.

Living a carb free life may not be for you, but increasing your protein andvegetable intake should be. Try reducing random sugars, salts and alcoholto tame your thighs. If you crave fats and sugars consider smoothies orjuicing. The only reason we crave certain foods is because we are deficientin some, we are missing a nutrient.

Other foods you will want to considerfeeding your thighs for toxin release areleafy greens, grapefruit and garlic. These areall liver freeing foods that will support yourthunder-less thighs.

Healthy fats like flax seed oil, chia seeds, hemp seeds,

omega-3’s and even natural coconut products will help you feel a lot lessdeprived, especially mixed in smoothies.

Toning

While many trainers will tell you that you cannot spot train your body, building super strong quads will give you the sleek look you desire. Thesemuscles also support your knees; which is very important for those of uswho want to be graceful walking in heels.

Before you decide to throw down some pounds weight-lifting considertoning your legs using your own body weight. You can burn fat fasterpumping iron on the larger muscles of your legs, but just working yourlegs hard with your own body on alternative days will help build balance, control and makes your body more independent without straining joints.

When you fully fatigue the muscle while training you get stronger faster. Each time you train increase the repetitions, by a few, and try to push theseconds in your holding exercises, like wall squats or warrior pose. Stretchesand strengthening exercises are also a big bonus. Reminding your muscles oftheir capabilities is paramount in preventing injury. I know, some of us justwant to get through it and get it done. Stretching your joints when they arewarm is just as important as warming up for the activity, especially as you getolder.

For best measure of your future results use a tape measure. Starting any regi-men with regard to your limitations is suggested. Take it slow when toning, then build. You can do gradual things everyday keep your body guessing. Onnon-leg days use the elliptical, the stair master or simply walk longer on thetreadmill. The more you condition your legs the faster you will transformthem in the thin thighs you desire.~

Begin with your knees slightly bent. Stretch out your hamstrings by grab-bing your toes and pushing the knees down. This move also works thequads. Hold for 10-15 seconds. Do 3 times, breathing deeply. It may taketime to fully master this move, but eventually your nose will touch your legs.

Begin by crossing one leg over bent knee at the ankle. Place the oppositehand at the outstretched hip and pull as you reach behind you elongatingyour lower back, hip and Iliotibial band to the knee. Switch sides and re-peat for a count of 10-15 seconds while breathing deeply.

Bend one knee to a comfortable level and tighten lower abdominal mus-cles. Raise with toes point and lower without touching the ground. If youcan easily do 20-30 reps without touch the floor, rather than adding ankleweights to increase intensity slow down the lifts. Switch to other leg. Repeat.

With one knee bent at a comfortable level, tighten lower abdominals thenhold the other leg with toes pointed and create circle in the air with yourtoes. Try to do 20-30 controlled circles then circle in the opposite directionbefore switching legs and repeating on the opposite side.

Pushing off of your hips, reach up and back with your arms and raise yourlegs locking your quads. Bring heels together and pulse 20-40 times, relaxthen repeat.

Prevent tension in hips and elongate legs muscles with this hip to floorstretch. With one leg outstretched arch back pressing hip down to deepenthe stretch. Hold, then switch legs.

Tightening your core muscles and bracing your feet thrust upwards andhold. For 10-15 seconds then repeat. This bridging exercise works the glu-teus and hamstrings. (Try this exercise squeezing a small ball betweenyour legs to increase intensity.)

The stationary lunge using your own body weight can tone the hip extensors, glutes, hamstrings, the knee extensors and the quadriceps. With your armsraise and core tight lunge forward taking care to keep your knee behind yourtoes. Push back and repeat for 20-40 reps.

Tightening your abdominals lean back pointing toes with legs straight.Raise legs controlling abs and lower without touching the floor. Do 20-40reps.

Standing hip extensions on one leg with slight pelvic tilt builds balanceand strengthens the ligaments, gluteus and hamstring group. Hold for 20-30 breaths then slow lower leg and switch.

Defining Success

Upon first meeting Kailey Boersma, I was surprised byher unwavering exuberance. Intrigued as I was to meet ayouth who has the ability to vocally smile and radiate con-fidence; it was obvious that there was so much more be-

hind this professionally clad teenager.

ery few teenage girls will admit toor self-proclaim to having a nerdymentality. Even fewer hold a ma-jor competitive streak when itcomes to activities and sportsdominated by the boys. It’s em-

powering for anyone who unexpectedly wit-nesses a typically wholesome young girl indriver’s seat or under the hood of a race car.

Who says you can’t be a lady after racingwith the boys, and winning? Kailey Boersma, marvelously presented her ladylike graceand demur on stage, which lead her to winthe titles as 2014-15 Miss Teen NevadaPrincess and 2014-15 Grand National MissAmerican Starlet.

Her entrepreneurial approach to talent, pag-eantry and all things fashion showcases herDETERMINATION and FOCUS while in

competition mode. Responding to judgeswith short, sweet and direct answers, might also have had something to do withit. However, the racer-girl side of Kailey, when it comes to competing with the boysis much more TREACHEROUS with aneager need to come first. Earning her atriple threat label. A state of being thatplaced her as the highest finishing girl inthe Nation; Winning numerous titles andtrophies at local events like the LVMSBullring Bandolero Race. Kailey looks toracers like Danica Patrick for tips on

building a place for yourself in an areawhere thrill-seeking women are scarce.

With her father’s company offering an offroad racing experience and her cousincompetitively racing quarter midgets, Kaileymay come by her passion for race cars nat-urally. Since racing has always been a funadventure supported by the family, Kaileyknew her family would support her need forspeed. Desperate to be a part of the actionrather than a part of the audience, Kaileyconvinced her father and family friends tosponsor her in a dirt care race on a localoval track. Proper training and safety when

racing with your competitors was some ofthe first items Kailey needed in her tool beltbefore ever entering a race. Being able toreact fast and being aware of your surround-ings prevents incidents and injuries, evenwhen you race a car that is reinforced withprotective gear.

Maintaining honors academically within thetop 13% of her student class is one thingKailey claims her extra circular activity willnever level; even when her non-schoolevents goals don’t fully make the grade. Withschool as the number one priority, Kaileyactively practices celebrating all of the posi-tive outcomes of the competitions she en-ters.

Loving the universal applications of math,Kailey future endeavors include her aspira-tions to enter the type of engineering pro-gram that would not only challenge her mind, but engage her in the process of creating, building and exceeding the expectations ofothers, but most importantly herself.

“When you are judging candidatesevery judge is given a limited time-

line to ask questions to keep thejudging process fair. When someone, like Kailey, leaves the room and the

judges have an urge to want to get tomore know her, you have a rare find.

A Potential Star.”

“There are so many things I want to do. I’m okay if Idon’t win everything. But, when I set a goal to do

something I finish it.”

“It’s fun to figure things out on my own, and I havealways preferred to do my own research.”

Following through with your own re-search, even when the facts are hand-ed to you can lead you not only tomaintain the information more thor-oughly, but it helps to plant seeds ofobstacles you may cross again whenthe situation presents itself. “I feel like Ilearn things better when I do my owndigging”

Believing that success is a state ofmind, Kailey commits to the act of suc-ceeding by setting goals while partici-pating in reaching any favorableresults. Success is about enjoying theprocess of your works; a direct feelingof the self-satisfying knowledge thatyou did your best.

While pageantry can be stressful foryoung ladies who strive to be the best, delegates like Kailey prepare to be thebest version of themselves. Unlikemost who look to winning the title, Kai-ley learned early that she when shecompetes in pageantry she is seekinga highly respected job or position. Sheresearches what that job requires of

her, and according to director JackieMcKenna she shows up and holds her-self to a high standard of conduct.

How does a busy teen maintainher grades, participate inLocal/National racing competi-tions, community projects andcontribute to her community/ lo-cal charities and non profits?

Organization and prioritizing. “I try tomake sure to have my schedule madeout in advance, I know where andwhen I need to present and what tocarry with me.” Being prepared with theproper attire was extremely importantwhen you depend on mom or dad’s taxiis also paramount. Especially, whenyou have a job. Now, that she has herown wheels her racecar driving skillsand preparedness will come in handyas she has to travel the city; whichmight make her the safest teen on theroad. When she is not gliding across a stage, gracefully, in high heels or hitting the

racetrack at high speeds, she savinglives as a trained lifeguard or support-ing others through completive activitiesas a high school cheerleader. ~

If you could be fa-mous for somethingwhat would it be andwhy?

It doesn't take much to make a last-ing impression. Its your choice if theimpression you make is good or bad.The mistake that many contestantsmake is that they focus on what theythink the judges want to hear ratherthen working to expose the best ofwho they are and what they standfor.

The content you highlight in your bioor profile must be information thatthe judges can ask you about. I’vebeen surprised when contestantswere unable to tell me about thefacts they submitted. Review yourbio, and make sure what you saymatches what you submit.

Take the time to learn about the jobyou are submitting for-YES! This is ajob. How you handle the job and howyou are viewed in the public will beremembered by the public.

Believe it or not, even if the judgesdisagree with your views politically oryour statements you will gain majorpoints for responding to questionswith honesty and integrity.

Keep in mind that the judges are notlooking for the perfect answer. Theyare looking for someone who canrepresent their own ideals in a waythat logically and positively promotesthe brand. The judges are looking fora favored speaker, a leader and arole model.~

A confidence that is warm, friendly and outgoing is always something the judge look for when in-terviewing contestants. The most important thing to be is genuine and true to your nature.

There’s an art to taking good attention-grabbing selfies. And for those whotake lots of selfies, all selfies should be used with caution. While selfies area good way to learn your angles try not to accentuate your less flattering

features. That in mind, shooting yourself from slightly above will make yourface look slimmer and standing next to a window or outside, in natural light,

will give you a smooth look.
