President Message

Dear friends

Festival greetings. It gives me immense pleasure to have served the society with our dynamic

Secretary, President elect, Treasurer and Council members for the past one year.

We started with few objectives, which I believe have been completed.

1. Formation of state chapters

2. Organ donation awareness programs, which is a continual process

3. Working on Men's health

4. International CUE

It was the first time in the history of North Zone that an Indo-Mauritian conclave was held which was a grand

success. My sincere thanks to Dr Balbir from Mauritius and Dr Elhence our President Elect.

We are now a very vibrant zone with more than 700 members. Most of the members are young and dynamic. This

year, we have seen many unofficial meets within the zone covering various fields such as Robotics, Uro-oncology,

Neuro-urology etc. Most of the organizers were young urologists which is a very healthy sign for the organization

to grow. Our zone also participates actively in the URO MET program held under the banner of USI at Gurugram

and Pushpanjali Hospital is a part of it.

I personally thank Dr Pathak, Dr Sood and Dr Himanshu Pandey, for successfully organizing CMEs under the official

banner of North Zone.

We are going to meet in Ludhiana, which I believe is going to be one of the best meetings, both academically and

arrangement wise, this zone has ever had.

Finally, last year we were able to unite as a zone for various zonal and national organizational setup. Hope this unity

will continue this year also and we may rise as a unified zone above individual gains. You will see many new changes

in the coming conference and I hope you will appreciate them.

I wish annual conference a grand success.

Long Live North Zone USI

Honorary Secretary

Dear members,

The 28th Annual meeting of North zone chapter of Urological society of India to be held in Ludhiana

from 16th to 18th November is at the door step. One year of my tenure as honorary secretary is almost

complete. It started with the end of a wonderfully organized Annual meeting at Meerut. Dr. Anil Elhence, Dr. Subhash Yadav

and their team under the able guidance of our past president Dr. Anil Goyal and the past. secretary Dr. Uttam Mete did a great

job. This year we had three successfully organized mid term CUEs under the North zone banner. The first one in Gangaram

hospital ,Delhi organized by Dr. Sudhir Khanna, Dr. Chadha, Dr. Ajay and Dr. Amrinder Pathak was on a very focused topic of

PCNL with twenty four eminent urologists of the country describing their technique which included the type of anesthesia,

positioning, puncture technique, method of dilatation and different ways of stone retrieval.

It encompassed the whole gamut from Micro to the standard PCNL.The experiment of doing a whole CUE on a single surgery

was appreciated by many. The second CUE was in Jodhpur with a broader topic of Reconstructive urology organized in AIIMS

by Dr. M K Chabra, Dr. Himanshu Pandey and his team. Many young urologists showed their skills which included Robotic, 3D

and 2D Laparoscopic partial neprectomy, pyeloplasty, VVF repair and Urethral stricture surgery.

The last mid term CUE was at Bhimtal, Uttarakhand on a even broader topic of Men's health and aging organized by Dr.

Rajeev Sood, Dr. Umesh Sharma and his team. The year that started with the Excitement phase of PCNL in the hectic city of

Delhi, continued in the plateau stage of Reconstructive Urology at Jodhpur and ended up with the climax of orgasmic phase

in the serene beauty of the Himalayas at Bhimtal on Men's health.

For the first time in the history of North zone USI , an international meeting was organized under its banner in collaboration

with the urologists in Mauritius. The Indo Mauritian Urology conclave was held at Raddison Blu Azuri, Mauritius from 5th to

11th August with a 98 members strong contingent lead by Dr. Anil Elhence from India and Mauratian urologists lead by Dr.

Balvir Verma. The Meeting was inaugurated by the longest serving Prime minister of Mauritius Shri Anirud Jagnaut. It was

one of the most memorable and enjoyable experience for all those who attended this meeting, Besides the academic

meeting on two days the evenings were full of joy and celebration. Dr. Balvir and his family worked really hard to make it a

great success.

Since the new council took over we are trying hard to update our directory, the NZUSI website and increase the

membership. We have added new sections of News and views and have come out with a Legal cell and a Services cell.

Format for consent forms of various urological surgeries in Hindi and English have been uploaded on the Legal cell section.

All states in the north zone have formed their chapters and have started working in unison with the zone.

We are gearing up for the annual conference in Ludhiana from 16th to 18th November, 2018. There would be a

preconference visit to temples (Devi Darshan) and Dharamshala and a post conference visit to Amritsar. Highlights of the

conference include participation of international faculty Dr. Christopher Wood, Live operative workshop, Residents' session,

Interinstitutional quiz , sessions on Research- publication, Residents Teachers relationship, Hospital violence, Medicolegal

forum with mock trial and a session on Marriage and its relevance today. Special innovative programme for spouse and

children, and an exclusive Industry session have also been planned The conference begins with a Motor bike rally on

awareness for Organ donation. I take this opportunity to invite all the members of USI to attend our 28th Annual meeting.

I acknowledge with heartfelt gratitude the supreme guidance of our president Dr. S P Yadav & President Elect Dr. Anil

Elhence and cooperation of all my council members .

Long live NZUSI and wishing you all a HAPPY DIWALI.

closely monitor the e-voting being introduced by USI and if possible to implement the same for next years election.Kindly put this up for approval by the AGM and let us bring some dignity to our election process till such time that the entire

NZUSI Newsletter - November 2018

My proposalAll awards and orations to be instituted for 5 years only, at the end of which we invite fresh bids. The amount to be paid by the

interested party for a particular award to be decided by the council. The award name to continue for 5 years.

V Proposal for Constitution Amendment: Dr Anil ElhenceAll conferences authorized by NZUSI are done under its PAN Card. As a result a large number of bank Accounts are linked to

our PAN Card and if there is some issue with any of these accounts the entire crisis shall fall upon NZUSI and also there is

increasing difficulty in opening a fresh account for each annual meeting and the 3 mid term meetings.

I propose the following:All Annual meetings are held with the NZUSI PAN Card using the NZUSI account. All revenue for the meeting generated by the

NZUSI council and local host is deposited in the NZUSI account and all expenses are met by the NZUSI Treasurer. We need not

make fresh accounts each year. This helps in the accounting and auditing of NZUSI account and also the multiple accounts are

not created. Additionally all such accounts opened in the past should send a closure report by the end of the third financial

year so that those accounts get delinked from NZUSI PAN Card. All mid term meets are held under the auspices of NZUSI and they can be held with the PAN Card and Bank Account of the

registered association/society hosting the event. To maintain transparency the local host/association/society shall provide

to the NZUSI council a audited account of the expenses incurred for the mid term meet and also a defined fee to NZUSI for

hosting an event under its banner

2018. The Treasurer Elect would become the Hon Treasurer after the completion of the term of Hon Treasurer in

2020. The term of the Hon Treasurer would be for two years after the post of the Treasurer Elect comes into force.

The Hon Treasurer will not be eligible for immediate reelection after completing the term of Hon Treasurer for two

years.

The matter was discussed in the AGM. Contrasting Views were expressed by different members. Dr. S. V. Kotwal

had felt that there is no need for creating another post like this. The utility of this is questionable. Dr. Ashok Sharma

also had expressed the similar view.

Dr. Uttam Mete had explained the house that every year about 50 new members are joining. More and more

abstracts are being submitted. For a newly joined secretary it will be difficult to carry out the Job efficiently

without prior exposure.

Secondly, USI, our parent body has already accepted the formation of secretary elect and treasurer-elect. At least

no harm in creating those posts.

Dr. Rajeev Sood, the immediate past president of USI, had informed the house that USI has already accepted the

creation of these two posts; for smooth transition of power and responsibility. Other members like Dr Yadav, Dr

Varshney had echoed the similar views in favour of creating those posts. Dr Swapan Sood had suggested that

rather than creating new posts the secretary / treasurer who has finished his term can help/oversee the activity of

the newly elected secretary / treasurer. Few members were in favour of having a head quarter and a clerk posted

there to help the secretary.

After a lot of deliberation the house was put on vote by raising hands. Majority had voted in favour of creation of

the post Therefore the amendment was passed.

v) Venue for the NZUSICON 2019:

Secretary had informed the council that this time he had received two bids for conducting NZUSICON 2019. One

from (SUNG - Dr. Ajit Saxena / Dr. Shailender Goel) and the other one from Amritsar (Dr. Kamaljeet Singh / Dr. Vikas

Rampal). Dr Kamaljeet from Amritsar had withdrawn in favour of SUNG. AGM had approved the venue. NZUSICON

2019 will be organised by SUNG (Society of Urologist of Noida & Ghaziabad)

vi) Mid-term CUES for 2018:

This year the office of the secretary had received only one bid. The council had recommended the approval of

more bids (despite the last date was over) for the mid term workshops if anyone was Interested. The proposal of

the council was placed before the general body. The General Body had approved the proposal. In response two

bidders had requested to accept their bids: one from Dr. Rajeev Sood (for Andrology / Infertility) and the other one

from Dr. Pandey (AIIMS Jodhpur) for Oncology/ Reconstructive UroIogy.

Both the bids were approved.

vii) Awards for the year2017-2018:

I Lifetime achievement award: Dr. A L Vyas

II. Dr. P N Kataria Memorial Oration: Dr. Aneesh Srivastava

III. Marudhara Jodhpur Trust Oration: Dr. S K Singh

IV. MIUC Senior Member Travel Fellowship: Nobody had applied this time. However, Dr Sanwal who was selected

for the award last time, could not avail it due to family issue and had requested for extension. The general body

viii) Approval of new members:

The list of various categories of new members were presented by Dr. Subhash Yadav, the treasurer of the society.

The list was approved by the AGM. In this connection the secretary had informed the house about the council's

view regarding the approval and exercising the rights thereafter of new members in the line of US.I As per this

proposal the membership applications received throughout the year can be reviewed and approved during any

council meetings held usually during our mid workshops rather than waiting for the AGM. The council also felt that

the members after approval should be allowed to vote during the AGM in the same year. After deliberation the

proposal was approved.

ix) Election of the Executive Council of the NZUSI:

a) President Elect : one

b) Honorary Secretary: one

c) Council Members: Three

Dr S P Yadav had Informed that there were one vacancy each for the post of President Elect and Honorary

secretary and honorary secretary / treasurer are allowed to fight election the functioning of the conference will be

affected. So they should not be allowed to fight election for that particular conference. After deliberation the

general body had agreed to the suggestion. However, It needs constitutional amendments.

2. Rotational policy for conference venue: Dr. Arya from Bikaner had raised the issue of selection of conference

venue in the same state year after year. He had suggested the venues should be rotated. His suggestion was

appreciated and the general body had agreed. The general Body also had requested him along with Dr. Ramesh

Sethia to take proactive measures for the formation of Rajasthan Sub zone.

3. The council's proposal to allow the committee for men's health, organ donation and national / international
