2 | Duke Arts Festival 2012 arts.duke.edu/festival

Each year expectation about the

arts festival grows – visual arts

submissions increase, the number

of student performances expands,

more alumni return to campus for

DEMAN (Duke Entertainment Media

and the Arts Network) weekend –

establishing the festival as an integral

part of campus life and the Duke student experience. Student

involvement through groups like duARTS and duu VisART has

never been stronger. I want you to look for our largest-ever

exhibition in the Bryan Center, drop in the Arts Annex and see

where you can make art, and from October 29 to November

4, be sure to catch student performances on East and West

Campus, inside and out, featuring music, dance, drama,

poetry readings, and more. I encourage you to take part

in the arts during this festival, and throughout your Duke

career. Welcome to the 2012 Duke Arts Festival!
