Dear Parents,

My name is Leonard J. Ollison and I am the new site director for the YMCA After School Program. I am reaching out to you to reintroduce our program to all parents and inform current parents of the changes to the experience that we are providing. Kids come first in our program and we are dedicated to building strong kids and communities through our After School Program.

This program is from school dismissal to 6pm, Monday—Friday. Care is also available for early dismissals, days off and holiday breaks. The after school program provides students with a well-rounded learning experience with a focus on fun, friends, and creativity through supervised activities. Activities include homework assistance, enrichment and interest-driven activity choices, gym/gross-motor movement time, arts & crafts, group games. The students also receive a nutritional snack.

Our site at Alliance for Progress follows a daily schedule to ensure your child has a positive experience. We start with our nutritional snack and then begin homework assistance. We reach out to parents to make sure we understand what goals they would like their child to reach during this time. Whether it is completing homework for that night, or focusing on particular assignments from class like spelling words and spending time reading. We then move on to our themed activity for that day. We have Music Mondays, Top Chef Tuesdays, Workout Wednesdays, Take Home Thursdays and Film and Fun Fridays. All the activities for the entire month of November have been included within this newsletter and we are excited to host them. After our activity for the day has concluded we will have free time for the students to enjoy until they are picked up. No matter when a child leaves our program they will have a chance to experience all we have to offer.

If you wish for your child to experience our after school program please contact Leah Booker, YMCA SACC Director at 215-235-6440 ext. 1727 or email her at [email protected] for further information.

I hope to see your student soon,

L. J. Ollison Alliance for Progress After School Site Director
