Dear Friends,
For the church, the fall season marks the beginning of a new church year. It is in September and October that we
see ministries fire up again aer, in some cases, taking a bit of a break during the summer months. It is in the fall that
the staff sneaks away for a few days for a planning retreat. It provides us an opportunity that we don’t oen have to
look back on the previous year of ministry and then look ahead at what we see on the horizon.
As we met this year, we recognized that much has changed for us since last
year. It was only a year ago that we had just celebrated the 50th anniversary of
Triangle Presbyterian Church and now a year later we are learning what it is to
become Triangle Grace Church. Just last year we were s-ll in the throws of
seeking to be dismissed from the PCUSA and today we are in ECO and in just a few
weeks we’ll send our first vo-ng representa-ves to the mee-ng of our new
presbytery. A year ago we were seeking to experience a sense of closure, today
we are moving into the bright present and future God has in store for us.
I believe it is an exci-ng -me to be counted as a covenant partner in this part
of the body of Christ. As I was thinking about these transi-ons and new beginnings and what they will mean for us, I
was drawn to the thought that God’s desire for us is to become the best “us” that we can be. We have something
special…something unique to offer to the kingdom of God and our community. God is giving us opportuni-es to share
his love and grace in our own back yard and then beyond and we don’t want to miss a single occasion to do so.
Over the last several years, we have engaged in a concentrated outreach effort that we have called, “The
Church Has Le the Building.” When we are gathered and sent on October 7th through that event we will simply be
doing in a more concentrated way much of what we ordinarily do throughout the year. Because that is the case, we
should not look at this single day event as something we do and then wait un-l next year to do again, rather we
should use it as a springboard for ongoing significant ministries throughout the year. As good stewards of the gis
that God has brought to Triangle Grace, and we have an enormously gied congrega-on, we reach out with those
gis in the love of Jesus to those who may need to hear that God loved them enough to send His Son to redeem
them.
This is the very idea that we are trying to promote as we think about stewardship. It is not something we do once
a year. Stewardship has to do with how we use the gis God has given us every moment of every day throughout the
year. Whether filling out our es-mate of giving cards, or pu:ng money in the offering plate, or gleaning sweet
potatoes, or volunteering at Faye;eville Street School, or teaching Sunday School, or feeding homeless people
through Open Table, we are sharing the gis that God has entrusted to us. Whenever we share our gis, we are
coming closer to being the best “us” that we can be.

The Book of Luke
Wednesday Nights at 6:00PM (except Ministry Team Night)
Remarkable for its rich detail, precise language, and meculous research, the Gospel of Luke contains insights into the
life and ministry of Jesus that only a master historian could have uncovered. Dive into this book and feel the
amazement of the people in Luke’s gospel as they encountered firsthand the Messiah of Israel.
Join Pastor Ray in room 206 as together we make our way through the Gospel of Luke. We are picking up where we
le off with chapter 17. Even if you haven't been in this Bible study before we would love to have you join us now as
we delve into what has been called the Gospel of Amazement.

On Sunday, October 14, all the Adult Sunday School classes
will have the opportunity to gather in the FLC for snacks,
fellowship and opportuni-es to learn about the 2019 budget.
There will be an opportunity to hear some stewardship stories and
to ask ques-ons you may have about the 2019 budget. Quarterbacks will receive their
footballs during the morning. Sunday Clubs and Middle School will go on as normal. Come,
learn and enjoy fellowship and some tasty treats.
COMPLETE THE PASS!
As in the past, the congrega-on is divided up into geographic/neighborhood teams. Each
football has a quarterback that oversees its journey. Each football contains a proposed
budget and es-mate of giving cards for each family. You have 3 weeks to move the football
from home to home, just make sure someone gets it back to TGC on November 4. Don’t
fumble by leaving it at someone’s house without them knowing it. That does not work! If
you have trouble passing, contact your QB or Nikki in the church office.
SOUPER BOWL SUNDAY!
SOUP POTLUCK DINNER
November 4 @ 5:00pm
On Sunday, November 4 all footballs (and es-mate of
giving cards) will be collected during worship. That evening we will gather at our annual TGC Souper
Bowl dinner to celebrate all those “completed passes”. This is a great -me to show off your crea-ve
cooking skills! Bring your favorite soup or chili or bread to share with your TGC family members who
will gladly sample your delicious crea-ons! You can sign up on our website to let us know you’re
coming and what you plan to bring.
FLU SHOT CLINIC
TGC will be offering this on Sunday, October 21 from 10:30AM-12:00 Noon in the FLC for anyone
14 and older. Flu shots are free for BCBS NC, Medicare, NC State plans, Tricare & BCBS Federal
(Triangle Rx will be happy to process your insurance plan). Cash price is $39.99. Pneumonia &
Shingles vaccines can also be given, but you must contact Alice at Triangle Pharmacy beforehand
(919-544-1711). Contact Nikki in the church office with any ques-ons.
