“Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s.” Matt 22:21 Everything we are and everything we

have belongs to God. We are not “owners” of anything; we are merely “stewards” of the gifts God has given each of us. All God is asking is that we give back a portion of what He gave us. This is the essence of Stewardship. God should be our first priority in everything. All else comes second. Please complete and return the stewardship commitment card that was attached to the back of the St. Ann Directory & Ministry Booklet or sign-up at http://stannpv.org/ministries.

Feed the Hungry In August we served 307 guests! St. Ann serves every 4th Monday of the month and consistently serves more than any other organization volunteering at the food kitchen. Our next opportunity to serve our hungry guests at the food kitchen in Kansas City, Kansas is this Monday, October 23rd. We need boneless

hams (they will be sliced at the food kitchen), as well as au gratin potatoes (3 boxes to a pan), and fresh and canned fruit. Your donations of these items would be greatly appreciated. Bring donations to the north parking lot between 8:30 and 10 am on Monday. If you have questions, or need a ride, please call Rosie Bohan at 913-722-5109.

Respect Life Month

*Free* Leaf Raking

It’s Time for CYO Basketball!

Free leaf removal! Do live within walking distance of St. Ann? Do you have leaves blowing around your yard? The St. Ann middle school kids would love to help! They will bring rakes, bags and leaf raking skills, and all you need to provide are the leaves! Call the parish office to

request leaf raking on October 27th. Call 913-660-1184.

40 Days for Life

We are in the midst of the 40 Days for Life annual campaign to carry out God’s plan to end abortion with a peaceful approach. We need prayer warriors to fill St. Ann’s time slots to pray at the Center for Women’s Health on Sunday, November 5th at 4840 College Blvd. Come witness and be the hands and feet of Christ as we sacrifice one hour of our day to honor the lives of the most innocent. Pray a rosary or pray from your heart. Mercy is given and Christ heals those clinic workers and the parents charged with His precious gift. Please confidently choose an hour between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm with a rally during the 3:00 hour. Signs will be provided. Email your time preference, along with your name, to: [email protected]

Volunteers Needed

Catholic Community Hospice is looking for volunteers to be with the terminally ill. Volunteers are a valuable part of Catho-lic Charities and often find that their greatest satisfaction comes from contributing to the wellbeing of others. If you are that person and would like more information, please contact Bonnie Krause, Volunteer Manager 913/433-2020.

All 4th thru 8th grade St Ann parishioners and students are eligible to play CYO basketball. To participate, you must register your child with CYO at http://www.cyojwa.org by Oct 29. If you already registered for another sport, you do not have to register again. A non-refundable basketball fee is due to CYO by Oct 29. All payment should be made through CYO. Scholar-ships are available if the cost is prohibitive. Physicals are re-quired to participate in CYO sports. 5th - 8th graders should attend both days of tryouts. If you do not tryout you will be placed on the more recreational team. No tryouts for 4th grade. *Boys Tryouts: Mon 10/30 (5th at 4:00, 6th at 5:15, 7th at 6:30, 8th at 7:45) Thu 11/02 (5th at 4:00, 6th at 5:15, 7th at 6:30, 8th at 7:45) *Girls Tryouts: Wed 11/01 (5th at 4:00, 6th at 5:15, 7th at 6:30, 8th at 7:45) Fri 11/03 (5th at 3:30, 6th at 4:30, 7th at 5:30, 8th at 6:30) Basketball Coordinator: Randy Lierz 816-442-9711 [email protected].

Pray: (or lead) a ROSARY FOR LIFE with us in the chapel at 3:30 or 10:00 (preceding 4:00 and 10:30 Masses) on the following dates: Oct. 21 & 22, 28 & 29 Donate: The Knights of Columbus’ annual baby shower to benefit the Wy-andotte Pregnancy Center is taking place now! We will have collection

boxes in the church and the YCC through Nov. 5. Please grab a “Needs List” (attached to the decorated donation boxes) on your way out. Thank you in advance! If you’d rather send in a monetary donation or gift cards, please bring (or send with your students) to the school office marked “Knights Baby Shower”. Meditate: “My path is clear: I see somebody dying, I pick him up. I find somebody hungry, I give him food. He can love and be loved. I don’t look at his color; I don’t look at his religion. I don’t look at anything. Every person – whether he is Hindu, Muslim, or Buddhist – is my brother, my sister. I think we all must act in this way.” (Saint Mother Teresa) Join us in a special holy hour of adoration, every Friday morning during the month of October, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel. The hour will be dedicated in silence to the dignity of all human life. Ponder: Sometimes we must pray with our actions. Very. Deliberate. Actions. Any steps we take toward protecting life makes a difference.
