2021 Virtual RVTEC Exciting updates from UNOLS & the Academic Research Fleet October 25 - 29, 2021 Due to the ongoing pandemic, the 2021 RVTEC meeting will be hosted virtually. To help with the meeting organization, we will be using Whova for all meeting information - from agenda to chat to zoom links. It will be a one stop shop which will streamline both meeting organization and implementation. Thank you for trying something new with us! Registration Now Available Registration is free and now available. Please complete your registration before October 22nd at 8pm Pacific time. Register now on Whova Once you've registered, you should receive a confirmation email from Whova. It will include a link to the event website where you will be prompted to make an account. Please be sure to use the same email address you registered with to create your account. There are desktop and mobile apps available for Whova but they are not necessary to install. If you opt not to you can visit the event in a web browser at the link below. https://whova.com/portal/webapp/rvtec_202110/ If you experience any issues with registration, please contact [email protected] Agenda The agenda is still a work in progress but sessions will take place Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 10am and 2pm Pacific Time. Monday we will host a virtual Speed Networking event. Please join us for an hour to meet your fellow technicians at 12pm Pacific. Details for an optional training on Friday will be announced later. To be mindful of the time our attendees are dedicating to the event, we are asking speakers to focus on Updates, Challenges and Future Plans. The Agenda can be found on the event website after you have registered. Attending the Event We love to see and hear what you have been up to, please complete as much of your personal bio as possible. Tell us what you are proud of this year. For our technicians who will be at sea during RVTEC, you will still be able to participate in the conversations, ask questions and view posters without watching live sessions. We'll be putting all our questions for the live sessions in the Community tab which is accessible without live streaming. Please feel free to ask your questions or start conversations as soon as you are registered. Icebreakers - Reimagined In lieu of the traditional Icebreaker slides which sharedyour institution's highlights from the year, we would like to start the meeting with one person from each institution presenting a slide that introduces your shipboard technical support team with images. In the spirit of the traditional Icebreaker slides it would be wonderful to have the most recent member of your team present the slide. It has been a while since we have all been able to meet and there has been some turnover and transfers and it would be great to connect names and faces for each institution again. Please get your slide and let [email protected] know who will be sharing on behalf of your institution by Oct 15th. Posters Do you have something you would like to share with the community but don’t want to make a plenary talk? A poster could be a good option. We will have poster sessions through the Whova application. The posters will be available throughout the meeting and the presenters can set a 15min tim eslot to discuss their poster (if desired). Live sessions for technical posters will take place Tuesday and Thursday between 1 and 2pm Pacific. Contact [email protected] to sign up! Technical Details Poster submissions may contain up to 2 digital documents up to 10MB in file size. A cover image of 800x450px is also recommended for your preview image. Live session time slots will be assigned in a first come first served order and will require a link from the stream partner of your choice (i.e. Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, etc). If we run out of time slots another session could be added. MacGyver Awards The MacGyver Awards are a tradition for RVTEC that we are revisiting this year. This award goes to the most creative, unconventional repair or build in a pinch. We have a very cool and hopefully useful prize for the submission that receives the most votes. Submissions will be in the form of a poster (see above), but no live session will be necessary. Votes will be collected over the course of the event and an announcement will be via email to the RVTEC mailing list the following week. Vendors There will be a Vendor Poster Session on Wednesday from 1-2pm Pacific. Please register for the event and contact [email protected]. Technical details for the posters are included above. You are receiving this message because you expressed interest in the UNOLS RVTEC Mailing list. If you do not want to receive these emails anymore, please contact Brandi Murphy [email protected].
