In her opinion, South Side School was the best;but anyone who went to East Side knew that East SideRULED! Yep, it was like there were borders in town and or

the most part kids stuck to their own tur although theSurvant heater seemed to serve as neutral grounds. But then, when you graduated rom the EastSide, or South Side, or Irle schools, ollowing anall-too-quick summer break you all got bottled uptogether in the 7th grade in the old Junior High.Beore long it was a bonding o classmates rom allthree schools that would soon start to transcend intowhat is known still to this day as Scotty Pride. While those days are long gone the Scottyreshmen moved up to the Glasgow High School in1985 we agree with an Leckie to call the newschool what it is: the Glasgow Elementary School.

Letter to the BuzzKnow the issues before you vote

I am writing this letter first and oremost to voice my supportto re-elect Sheriff Glen Meier or Valley County Sheriff. Havingknown Sheriff Meier or almost 5 years, and having worked underhim or almost 2 years, I can tell you that his leadership quality issecond to none. Sheriff Meier plays a very integral role not only inlocal enorcement matters, but also sits on several state boards andis looked at by other Sheriffs in this state as a leader. I cannot help but take notice o the political ads, flyers,and yard signs that have come about on behal o Joe Horn orSheriff. I recently was shopping at a local grocery store and hadthe pleasure o reading For Te People, Not Te Glory Vote JoeHorn or Sheriff. I couldnt help but notice that in Mr. Horns flyerhe uses such words as Knowledge, Integrity, and Proessionalism.From my observations rom working with Mr. Horn, I do not eelthat he possesses any o those qualities and does not portray thatin his work as a Glasgow Police Officer. Furthermore, I do not eelthat Mr. Horn is someone who possesses leadership qualities andit would be a huge disservice to this county IF he were elected asthe next Sheriff o Valley County. I also noticed that Mr. Horn listed his goals, IF elected Sheriff.I would like to ask Mr. Horn: How do you plan on implementing 24-hour coverage with an 8 man department? Have you consideredthe staffing hours required or prisoner transports, District Court,Justice Court and other duties o the Sheriffs Office, all whilecovering shifs or scheduled vacation and sick leave? Would you

add to the staff o the Sheriff s Office and i so, how would youplan on unding the additional positions, equipment, etc.? Howdo you plan on placing a resident Deputy in each community?Do you plan on orcing current Deputies who already own homesin the Glasgow area to move to the outlying communities? All o the goals Mr. Horn talks about sound very appealing,and are very good ideas. However, without the unds to do so, thatis all they are, is IDEAS. Sheriff Meier and Undersheriff VernonBuerkle have worked tirelessly to secure millions o dollars inFederal and State grants to offset the costs to local taxpayers,virtually saving the community millions o dollars. With themillions o dollars that Sheriff Meier has been able to save ValleyCounty, those unds could be used to repair bridges and roadsdamaged by recent flooding disasters in the last 4 years. o somethis may seem like a common practice, but it is not, especiallyconsidering the size o our community and the size o our Sheriff s

Office. I would encourage you, the taxpayer and voter, to get to knowthe issues and speak with the candidates in this race. I would alsochallenge you to speak with the people that work or the Sheriff sOffice and ask them, Would you work or Mr. Horn?. I wouldalso encourage you to get out and vote!
