October News October 1, 2019 OCTOBER 2nd is OPEN HOUSE We can’t wait to meet you at our open house Wednesday October 2nd, 6:00-7:00pm. If you would like extra book fair shopping time, come early to shop between 5:00-7:00 pm. Meet the teachers, visit the classrooms, connect with other families. Don’t forget to meet the music and French, ESL and ISSP teachers too! Connect with our settlement worker, or learn how to sign up for Parent Connect or School Cash Online! Staupdate: Recently we wished Mr Bocayong, our custodian, all the best as he moved on to a new site. For now, we are lucky to have Ms. Corneil with us as our day time custodian. To connect with her about board initiatives email [email protected] Traffic Safety Report The Mississauga Trac Safety Council came to observe our Kiss and Ride and the school area on September 19th. They made multiple recommendations including: enforcing no parking or stopping from 8:15-8:40 am and 2:45-3:05 pm, no “u turns”, speed limit sign for 40kph, and signage for a bus loading zone in front of the school. There is a request that parking control visit regularly to enforce any violations. Please ensure you use kiss and ride properly and do not park illegally anywhere near the school. School Success Updates Late October, Mrs. Johnston, Modern Leaning rep Mlle Christie and Climate Rep Mrs. Shori will be attending professional development to learn how to effectively use the Peel Board new School Success Portal to plan for student success. In November and January, Mrs. Johnston and Mr. Bhogal, our Math Rep will be attending professional development to refine our school success math plan to support the fundamentals of math. We are moving closer to the opening of our maker space for inquiry learning. STAY TUNED!

Join School Council Next meeting: Thank you to the 15 parents & guardians, five students and 2 babies who attended our first meeting! We congratulate our four council executives: Adina Kanhai, Mumtuz Saleh, Mitu Bhagat, and Prabhjot Singh Pharwaha. We thank you in advance for your service. Information about our next meeting is coming soon. Be involved, stay connected!

Book FairIt’s here!!! Our book fair is set up and waiting for excited readers to come and shop! Students can shop during the day From September 30- October 2, or in the evening October 2nd, 5:00-7:00 pm. All proceeds go towards more library books!

Terry Fox Thanks to our amazing Corliss staff, we had a fabulous event and yummy freezies. Thanks to our generous families, we raised over $750 for the Terry Fox Foundation. Way to go Corliss!
