March for Responsible EnergyMonday, May 14Meet at noon at the Santa Fe Train Depot (410 S. Guadalupe)Walk ONE MILE from the Depot to NM Energy, Minerals & Natural Resources Dept. (1220 S. St. Francis)

WHY: Join St. John’s Students for a Sustainable Future (SSF) andSanta Fe’s Climate Change Leadership Institute (CCLI) to protestthe attempt by the Oil & Gas Industry to overturn NM’s PIT RULE,which provides for proper waste water disposal while “fracking” forfossil fuels. (Fracking is the widening of existing fractures in rocklayers through high-pressure injection of chemicals with water. Thewidened fractures lead to increased migration of gas and other petro-leum products, thus making it easier for oil and gas companies to ex-tract those resources. Fracking by-products potentially can migrateinto groundwater, shallow and deep aquifers, and also collect on thesurface near drilling sites, from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hy-draulic_fracturing)
