Last tax season, VITA programs across the country prepared and filed 3.3 million returns that brought in $1.9 billion in refunds and $631 million in EITC for low-to-moderate income individuals and families. Those numbers alone are impressive, but when taken in context with the statistics for which our volunteers in PA and NJ are responsible, it is clear CWF volunteers make a disproportionate impact at the national level. $259 M #1 in REFUNDS FILINGS 171,201 * $235 M #2 in REFUNDS FILINGS 132,517 * $149 M #3 in REFUNDS FILINGS 102,373 * $111 M 486 TAX SITES 233 TAX SITES 197 TAX SITES 276 TAX SITES #4 in REFUNDS FILINGS 80,591 * CALIFORNIA TEXAS FLORIDA NEW YORK VITA ORGANIZATIONS 78 TAX SITES STATE 168 CWF 21 12.5% Statewide REFUNDS STATE $100 M CWF $31.8 M 32% Statewide STATE 2,533 CWF 435 17% Statewide VOLUNTEERS FILINGS STATE 72,413 * CWF 16,835 * 22% Statewide TAX SITES STATE 65 CWF 14 21.5% Statewide REFUNDS STATE $38 M CWF $3.3 M 14.8% Statewide VOLUNTEERS STATE 2,050 CWF 130 6% Statewide FILINGS STATE 27,066 * CWF 4,780 * 14.8% Statewide VITA ORGANIZATIONS 24 PENNSYLVANIA NEW JERSEY NATIONWIDE COMPARISON 2019 STATS From a national perspective, PA has the 5th highest number of VITA tax sites in all the nation with New Jersey at #21.
