It staiied wlth a brain wave: The I. C. englne. In 1864, when progress started to get going. When the first engine factory in the world was bulli, founded by Nikolaus August Otto and Eugen Uingen. In a joint effort they developed Otto's idea for power to the production stage: the atmospheric gas englne. This started the world's first serles production of engines. Gasmotoren-fabrik DEUTZ AG, at Cologne-Deutz, supplled this new power for the world. In 1876. Progress tound its cycle. The four-stroke cycie. In the Otto engine. The englne of Nikolaus August Otto, the nucleus of world motorization.

engine : Air cooling...tliat's why ! The D 4006. Unique. It belongs to the most powerful tractors of Its class. Its engine; the famous DEUTZ three-cylinder four-stroke F3 L 912 diesel. Alr-cooled. Using direct Iniection. Piston displacement 2826 cm\ A rated speed of 2150 rev/min. With a torque rise of 10%. This tells the experts amongst the farmers everything.

The D 4006 uses air cooling. This direct cooling with air renders thermoslat, water cooler, water pump, gaskets, hoses, pipes and anli-freeze unneces-sary. Air-cooled DEUTZ diesels are cooied by a heavy-duty fan, A cooling duct system, proved a million times over, ensures equal cooling for ali cylinders. Since the D 4006 reaches its norma! operating temperature very quickiy, it can be run under Ioad right away. This also means reducing the wear caused by cold corroslon. When using air cooling, the operating temperature is not lìmited by the boilìng point of the coolant. To the contrary, it makes it possible to run the engine at a higher, more favourable operating temperature. This improves combustion and reduces fuel consumption. There is no need for cooling air adjustment during tractor operation, neither in extremely low nor inextremelyhighambienttemperatures. The advanced DEUTZ engine techno­logy ensures a particularly smooth running of the air-cooled diesels.

There is good starting with a DEUTZ D 4006. This is ensured by a strong starter motor, a heavy-duty battery and a cold starting device. The 28 ampere 3-phase alternator already charges the battery at idiing speed.

This ensures an almost 100% clean-liness of the intake air. DEUTZ has fitted the D 4006 with a 70 liter tank. This is enough fuel for a hard day's work without the need for refuelling.

Single-lever operation

DEUTZ transfermatic system TheDEUTZ TRANSFERMATIC SYSTEM hydraulic lift works extraordinarlly well. Joltless control and equal working depth are ensured by a well-tuned coilective action of a gently and quickly responding control unit, a simple and low-friction control linkage and a large draft pick-up range. Single-lever control. After preselecting either draft control or position control, the work to be done js controlied by only one lever. And also the free-floating of Implements, the ralsing and lowering.

Automatic height kick-out, both at top-most transport position and at standard height, In both cases the system changes automatlcalty to unpressurized oli circulation as soon as the pre-selected height is reached. By turnlng a tlmlt lever, the raising to standard height can be locked mechanically and the lowering hydraulically. The imple­ment Is carried on this oli cushion in the service cylinder (shock absorber effect) and thus the tractor and the implement are spared. The system raises higher than prescribed by DIN-Standards. No overloading of the engine-driven pump.

Automatic fowerlng control valve. It prevents too fast lowering of heavy implements. Automatic side stabili-satìon. When the implement is raised to the top, it is stabilized in centro position. This is particularly ìmportant when ploughìng. When raising the plough to make a head land turn, Uie plough is arrested automatically in centre position and cannot swing to the side, l-arge length adjustment of both liftrods. Side tilt compensation for Wide Implements.

You work well with the D 40 06 transmission The 4006 has a high/low range gearshitt transmission with a total of 8 fojTward and 2 reverse speeds. There are flve speeds alone avall-abte forfield and greenland farming, well stepped up from 1.8 to 8.2 km/h.

The speeds do not overlap. The shift pattern is clear. Range and gearshifl levers are arranged side by side so thal the other hand is free for dolng other things. The D 4006 has a dual clutch. The centrally positioned ground-speed PTO shaft of 540 rev/min ìs engaged and dis-engaged with this clutcJi.

The well stepped up transmission and the excellent performance of the PTO shaft make this D 4006 an economica! tractor for hard jobs. You have always the right power for the right implements.
