#visitpenrith 10

“Penrith’s great local community with its thirst for after dark activities made it the natural choice for Pinot and Picasso.

As locals ourselves, we started to notice that people were looking for things to do after the sun went down. It was around this time that Aaron’s fiancé attended a Paint and Sip class in Sydney. After she came home saying how good it was, we decided we had to act.

The best part about working in Penrith is definitely the people; we work with great staff and incredible instructors, this combined with good tunes and approachable art for everyone, culminates in the ultimate night out.”

SHANNON BOYDLOCAL ARTIST

#visitpenrith 46

“I can’t really pinpoint the time I became an artist but I’ve been interested in, and had a natural flair for art, from as young as 5 years old. My kindergarten teacher first noticed my passion and provided me with my first set of Derwent pencils and off I went.

I chose Penrith as the place to start my professional painting career because it’s home. I’d noticed there wasn’t any street art around and saw an opportunity to start practising and growing my trade through commissioned works with the local PCYC. It’s been crazy to see how it’s grown from there.

What I love most about Penrith is that everywhere you go, you see someone you know or have shared experiences with. It’s an extremely welcoming place with great bars, cafes and experiences plus the Nepean River and neighbouring Blue Mountains create an awesome backdrop.”

“The impact of bringing visual spaces to my hometown is incredibly humbling.”Shannon Boyd Artist

“We believe Penrith has so much to offer”

PERCY PLUNKETT

“My business partner Jake and I are both locals. We’ve spent our whole lives in Penrith and we really wanted to create something that hadn’t been done before. When the opportunity to open in an amazing local heritage building came up, we jumped at the chance.

After reading the heritage report for the building, we fell in love with what Percy Plunkett, the former owner, did to the house and the name for the café was born.

Percy Plunkett is not just about great coffee and food, it’s about the whole experience. Everyone is welcome at Percy Plunkett, we’ve even started learning Auslan so we can better communicate with our hearing impaired customers.”

RUSTY PENNY

#visitpenrith 62

“The idea for the Rusty Penny was born in a garage in 2007. Since then, the drive to make the perfect beer became an obsession which resulted in what you see today.

Unlike your typical brewery we only make 4 kegs per batch (as opposed to the usual 20). This means we have the flexibility to take some risks and brew some strange but wonderful beers that keep our customers coming back for something different.

When people come to Rusty Penny they can expect a relaxed atmosphere, a good chat and some great beer. “
