Oil & Gas – First Sign of Trouble Endorsement UNIQUE COVERAGE HELPS MINIMIZE LOSS Consider this: If an out-of-control well event leads to a blowout, claim costs can easily exceed $5 million when you consider the cost of regaining control of the well, property damages, care and compensation for injured workers and environmental cleanup. In conjunction with Wild Well Control, our preferred well control provider, Travelers Oil & Gas offers a unique coverage for preventing hazardous well pressure incidents from escalating into a serious loss, and provides reimbursement for expenses incurred if Wild Well Control is contacted at the first sign of trouble. Travelers First Sign of Trouble Endorsement – How it works At the first sign of well trouble, qualified insureds should contact Wild Well Control using their 24/7 hotline (281.784.4700), and they will work closely with you to help minimize potential losses. If expenses are incurred due to the incident, you can be reimbursed for up to $25,000. The First Sign of Trouble Endorsement is added to the Control of Well insurance policy. What is a “qualified insured”? Any Travelers Control of Well insurance policyholder is a qualified insured, including those that have policies written under St. Paul Surplus Lines Insurance Company and Travelers Property Casualty Company of America. Do I have to file a claim? No; for reimbursement, simply present documentation of expenses incurred. Does this count against my loss experience or retention? No. Real-world example: An oil lease operator hired a drilling contractor to drill a well. The operator insured this well under a Travelers Oil & Gas Control of Well insurance policy that included the First Sign of Trouble endorsement. The drilling contractor was given Wild Well Control’s free 24-hour hotline phone number for use in the event of any pressure control problems. One night while drilling was in process, a pressure control issue began to develop. The driller immediately made the call to Wild Well Control. As they worked through the problem with Wild Well, the seriousness of the situation became apparent. The driller and the operator’s company man agreed that on-site help from Wild Well would be needed. Wild Well immediately flew two of its technicians to the well site to work on the problem. The Wild Well technicians were able to help prevent the pressure control problem from escalating into a catastrophic blowout, and the well was completed without incident.
