Tech Tips: Gas Tank Sediment

Taken from the August 1995 Flathead Times and originally

submitted by Francis Von Muller; Ford/Mercury Owners Magazine

Depending on the location of your drain plug, park your

car on a slope, so that the right or left front wheel is the

lowest. You can jack up the right or left wheel instead.

Unscrew the gas tank plug and let out about a pint or so of

gas. You will be surprised at the amount of sediment, rust,

and water will come out. Do this about once a year, being

careful with the gas.

Hello again! Are we ever going to have a club meeting

again? The answer is YES! We will have our scheduled

June 13th meeting, starting about 9am, at Ingrid's

Kitchen. So now you know the day, the time, and the place. It's

time to dust off your old Ford and make sure it will start. Check the

air in the tires. Get excited! I hope to see everyone's smiling faces

and shiny cars. Don't forget to bring any ideas for a future drive,

that you may have thought of during the quarantine. We will also

have the 50/50 drawing available. Who is going to be the lucky

winner this time?

I'm not sure what the social distancing rules will be at the time of

our meeting. We will all need to be considerate of others and

abide by the current rules for restaurants and Ingrid's Kitchen.

I hope to see everyone soon!

Thanks, Earl Claybaugh

New club directories were printed during this

pandemic break. They will be available at our

June meeting at Ingrid’s Kitchen.

This pandemic has been quite the gamechanger for every-

body. For some, the “shelter in place” has been quite nice

and peaceful. For others, just the opposite. It is looking like

everything is starting to cautiously open up. Grandchildren’s

sports are starting back up. Church buildings are opening

their doors. Won’t be long before this is just a memory.

“Drive your V-8 Ford Day”

As of this printing, parks have not opened for us to have our

annual picnic. This means, the club has no event planned for

“Drive your Ford V-8 Day”. That does not mean you cannot

get your old Ford out for a drive to a place of interest. If you

do get out, please take some pictures and send them along

with a short article to me at [email protected]. I will

be more than happy to publish any of those that you submit.

In fact, I would be thrilled! So please get those V-8 Fords out

for a well deserved drive. If anyone would like to get a small

group together for a drive that would be amazing.

President's Letter by Earl Claybaugh

Oklahoma has entered Phase 3 for opening the state. Under Phase 3, businesses may resume unrestricted staffing at their work sites by observing proper Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-recommended social distancing protocols and are recommended to continue increased cleaning and disinfecting practices.

Stay safe and stay well, Beth Plant, RN
