Grangegorman No. 27 Spring 2016 The Grangegorman urban quarter is a large and complex piece of land which already caters for a large variety of users. While each building is managed and run by the organisation occupying it the estate, which makes up 50% of the overall site area, is for everyone who passes through the gates. It therefore must be managed by one group with everyone’s interests in mind. The responsibility for this management falls to a group called Grangegorman Estate Management Working Group (GEMWG). It is made up of representatives of DIT, the HSE, Dublin City Council and the GDA. It is chaired by the GDA’s Director of Construction and Procurement, Ms Máire Mellerick. The estate, that is, the publicly accessible exterior areas of Grangegorman, is made up of a vast amount of services and hardware which all need constant monitoring and attention. This special newsletter will give some insight into the work that goes into these most critical aspects of Grangegorman. Grangegorman Estate Management Special Old Entrance, New Estate

It is the task of Grangegorman Estate Management Working Group (GEMWG) to look after the whole Grangegorman urban quarter. This group is made up of all the stakeholders in the quarter and responsibility for all of the various services are divided up according to expertise and available resources. As you will

see below day to day services are currently managed by DIT and GDA depending on the area. As new services and areas such as the Primary Care Centre, Community Nursing Unit and the new Primary School become available, other organisations such as the HSE may take on some areas.

As with any park or publicly accessible area of the city, there are rules and regulations set out in Grangegorman. These rules are put in place for everyone’s safety and wellbeing and it is hoped that they help everyone to enjoy the quarter more. Below are the pictograms which represent these rules and regulations.
