Exal ted Ruler ’s Message I want to welcome 3 new members
to our order:. Barry Blount, Gordon
Hermann, and Otto Bulich! Please
get involved by attending meetings.
We have two chairs that are current-
ly vacant, Youth Activities and
Veterans. There are other commit-
tees that need help and we need
cooks for Family Night and the end
of the month Friday Night Dinner.
To our new members and all of our
members: your help is really needed
now. We applied for and received a
Graditude grant for $2000. More
details next month. If you have any
ideas for fund raisers tell me and we
will get into action with your help.
The trip to the San Diego, CHEA
convention, left Linda and I very
tired, due to lots of information and
long sessions each day. At the end
of this month it's off to San Antonio
for more all day sesions. I will report
the results next month.
Check out the flyer for the Annual
Elks Lodge Picnic in August. Linda
and I went last year and it was a lot
of fun.
Lastly, I want to encourage any
member who is behind in dues to get
up to date. Hal is spending a lot of
time on this issue.
Tom Newell, Exalted Ruler
To Members & Guests;
Independence Day A.K.A. “4th of
July”, is being celebrated this
month. Your Purple Pig would look
good in “Red, White, & Blue”, off-
setting his/her purple hue. As the
temperatures climb, remember to
keep lots of sunscreen on your Pig
and keep a cool pool full of water to
keep them cool. A small American
flag inserted into their coin slot will
work just fine as long as their little
feet can touch bottom and the flag
doesn’t get wet.
You should all be proud of your-
selves this year as our Exalted Ruler
Tom marched across the stage in
San Diego with a check for
$14,295.84. This amounts to $28.03
per capita based on last years start-
ing membership number. This is
over $4000.00 more than last year’s
total of $10,000.01 with a per capita
of $19.06. Our work is just starting
again with near zero balance, so
thank yourselves. The Kids are the
ones who benefit.
Starting off our new Elk Year, I
have a few names to mention.
Lecturing Knight Michael Burke,
Bob Nath, Carol Afshar, and our
first “Century Club donor, Laurel
Utecht. I just ordered her certificate
and it will be arriving in the near
future.
This year’s Theme Child is a boy
named John. John was born on May
27, 2016 and was diagnosed with his
tively for their first four years are
recognized through the “Road to
Renewal” program. The following
members now have a pin waiting for
them to claim. We have some mem-
bers who have received the first pin,
the “Great Heart”. I now have more
“Great Hearts” and some “Youth”
pins ready to be pinned on your Elk
shirt. I will be at all meetings and if
you are there let me know so that
you may be recognized during the
dinner hour or at the meeting. Great
Heart pins go to: Larry Bramblett,
Jim Carlon, John Corsi, Charles
Crawford, Jon Dashner, David
DeCheney, Roy Ellis, Alan
Fulkerson, Gary Johnson, Jim
Maddox, Galen “Mutt” Mutzner,
Matt Peller, Barbara Spadaro, Doug
White, Pam Gracia, Tony Masselas,
Bill Patterson, and John Smith.
Second year of giving “Youth” pins
go to Eileen Hogan, Bruce Kennedy,
Marge Nath, Timothy Wallace, Bill
Youngman and again Bill Patterson.
Hope to see you at the next meeting.
Good Guy Donor’s for May are:
John Martin and Clifford Buck. New
donors are Jimmy Stephens and
Kenneth MacDonald.

With the month of July upon us we cel-
ebrate our nation’s Independence Day.
It is a time for picnics, BBQ’s, a time to
eat lots of hamburgers, hot dogs, chips
and dips, watermelon, potato salad,
corn on the cob, and many great
desserts. Just think, we could have been
born any where but we were born here
in America. A land of opportunities, a
land of grace and of freedom.
So as you enjoy your vacations or just
relaxing around the house or around
town, be grateful for the many blessings
we have. Food in our kitchens, a roof
over our heads, a car to get around in,
just to name a few. Most of all we
should be grateful for the loved ones we
have and for the greatest love of all, the
love of our lord Jesus Christ.
A special thank you for all of you who
came out for Flag Day on June 14th.
We had 55 people at the event and our
local Boy Scout troop retired flags for
us. In addition the Emblem club did a
flag folding ceremony and provided hot
dogs, chips, beans and soda. The after-
noon was a great blessing and again
thank you for making the event special.

JUNE “ELK” MEALS
Due to a lack of volunteer cooks and
lack of attendance at the last few
“Elk Meals”, there will be NO meal
this month on last Friday of the
month. In May we only had 49 on
Tuesday and 34 on Friday. The
meals themselves made a little
money but when expenses of open-
ing the Lodge and using the kitchen
are tallied up, the Lodge ends up los-
ing money. The supply of cooks has
dwindled along with attendance for a
variety of reasons. In conversation
with some Members of the House
Committee, we decided to just spon-
sor one meal a month, probably on
the 1st Tuesday and maybe with a
regular cook with options for others
as they become available and will-
ing. There would still be the option
of the Elks sponsoring “special or
big” nights such as Steak & Shrimp,
Cook your own Steak, Entertainment
nights with a special meal, but these
would have to be undertaken by a
group or individual volunteers.
If you have any suggestions or ideas
you can contact me and we’ll see
what can be done. Meanwhile, I’ll
try to plan something for the 1st
week in July.
