Introduction

The following pages outline the style and branding guide-

lines of Olympia Healthcare. The standards are a guide to

the usage and presentation of the elements and charac-

teristics of the hospital’s brand identity.

These guidelines are an essential tool in establishing and

maintaining an identity that will properly communicate

the brand identity of Olympia Healthcare. They are de-

signed to help you apply the hospital signature correctly.

It is important to use the logo and logotype consistently

and with consideration for the image the logo projects.

It should be used to unify and strengthen all internal

and external communications. The design of the logo

and logotype has been carefully considered; its form is

distinct and should not be altered in any way. It is the

responsibility of each staff member to properly follow

the standards in order to represent the hospital’s identity

with maximum impact.

Using the logotype incorrectly undermines Olympia

Healthcare’s image, therefore, it is very important that

this manual be followed carefully. Any attempts to recre-

ate this icon and logotype should be avoided. Always use

the original, electronic files.

Olympia HealthcareThe torch is a common emblem of both enlightenment

and hope. Here at Olympia Healthcare, we not only want

our visitors to feel enlightened, but we want them to

leave with a sense of vitality and hope. The raised torch

also historically represents life, truth and the regenerative

power of the flame. The name Olympia derives from the

ancient Greek sanctuary, which was the sight of the origi-

nal Olympic games. Atlanta, home of Olympia Healthcare

was also the site of the 1996 Summer Olympics.

The colors Olympic Gold and Poseidon Blue give refer-

ence to the ancient times from whence the name derives.

Gold is traditional known to promote courage, confidence

and willpower while blue is often associated with calm-

ness and relaxation. Those are all the elements, which

Olympia Healthcare strives to uphold for its visitors. The

typeface, Philosopher, was selected for its representation

of strength and neoclassical appearance, combining both

characteristics of a serif and sans serif typeface.

Organization Name ReferenceThe identity does not have an abbreviation. The name

of the hospital is Olympia Healthcare. In printed materi-

als, on second and subsequent reference, it is appropri-

ate to identify Olympia Healthcare as “the hospital” or

“the medical center.” The name is never abbreviated with

three or four letters. The identity should appear on mate-

rials used in the hospital (form, stationery, etc.).

We have developed guidelines to help define and delin-

eate appropriate use of our identity. These guidelines are

detailed in the pages that follow.

All material contained within these pages are the prop-

erty of Olympia Healthcare and require express permis-

sion from the Corporate Marketing or Communications

departments for use.

The Olympia Healthcare brand identity is built from con-

sistent and creative elements, including a logo and logo-

type, explicit colors, fonts, imagery and visual elements.

Spatial RelationshipsA minimum clear space must be maintained around the

logo at all times. This is to ensure its visibility and protect

its integrity. This clear space requirement differentiates the

logo from all other elements on the page. The clear space

should be kept clear from all other graphic elements such

as text, images and graphics. An edge of a page should also

fall outside the clear space. A simple rule for determining the

appropriate clear space regardless of logo size is based on a

constant measurement, which is equivalent to one-half (½ of

X) the height of the logotype Olympia.

When the logo stands alone without the accompaniment

of the logotype, the appropriate clear space should re-

main proportional to the measurement of X.

Logo: Full & Abbreviated VersionsThe Olympia torch, when used alone is the abbreviated

version of the Olympia Healthcare logo. Always use the

original and approved art. NEVER alter any aspect of it.

Do not attempt to draw or recreate the Olympia torch.

The torch combined with the Olympia Healthcare letter-

ing, which has been specially designed and letterspaced,

is the full Olympia Healthcare logo.

Three basic combinations have been created to provide

flexibility for use on different printed pieces.

Incorrect UsageFor visibility, impact and overall integrity, it is important to

retain a consistent use of the logo. The logo is fundamen-

tal to the communications and should never be compro-

mised. Always reproduce the logo from original artwork.

Protect the integrity of the Olympia Healthcare identity by

being aware of the improper logo usage illustrated here. If

questions about usage arise please contact the communi-

cations department.

Usage on different backgroundsHere are examples of of the correct way to use the

Olympia Healthcare logo on a variety of backgrounds. It

is important to have adequate contrast between the logo

and the background for optimal visibility.

*Please Note: DO NOT change the dark logo to white.

There is a specific white version of the logo that should be

used in cases where it needs to be placed on a dark back-

ground.

TypographyThe consistent use of typography is important in helping

to establish a unified look among our brand identity. Two

type families have been chosen; Adobe Garamond Pro (in

four variations) and Gotham (in four variations). Lengthy

body text should be set in Adobe Garamond Pro, a serif

face. In some cases, it may be used as an alternate for

headlines. Gotham should be used for captions, headings,

and any important titles. I can be used in certain versions-

for body text. No other type families may be used aside

from the two mentioned in this style guide.

VehiclesHospital Fleet

In keeping with the hospital’s identity and brand, the fol-

lowing guidelines are provided for use on Olympia owned

vehicles. The consistent use of Olympia Healthcare’s iden-

tity on hospital vehicles helps to unify the fleet. An un-

cluttered and professional decal design that is consistent

throughout the hospital fleet is provided for use in most

applications. Due to the various vehicle body styles and

special application requests, variations may be allowed on

a case-by-case basis by contacting branding@olympia-

healthcare.com. All hospital vehicles that display the logo

or other signage should conform to the hospital’s identity

standards. Vehicles include, but are not limited to, buses,

helicopters, cars, and trucks.

Guidelines

The preferred vehicle color is white. In a case where that is

not practical, alternate logo colors can be provided based

on the vehicle’s actual color. Otherwise the official hospital

colors of PMS 142 (Olympic Gold), and PMS 7463 (Posei-

don Blue) should always be used. The logo and logotype

should be centered from left to right and top to bottom

and avoid trim and uneven surfaces.

Examples of vehicle graphics are shown on the following pages.
