On 11th of November is celebrated the S. Martinho. We taste the new wine and eat chestnuts

Maios is the name given to the dolls, made of fabric, facing the side of the roads, in May. They represent popular figures.

On the 21st of May we celebrate the spike day. People go into the fields to pick up wild flowers.

On the 13st of June we celebrate the Saint Anthony’s day. The boys give their girlfriends a basil with verses. On this day, the Lisbon Mayor pays the wedding party to the brides who realize a catholic marriage at the same time . They are the Saint Anthony‘ brides. At night there is the popular marches through the streets of Lisbon.

On the 24th of June is celebrated the Saint John’ day. It is a bank holiday in many villages of Portugal. People eat sardines on a slice of bread, and there are lots of fun in street festivals until late at the night.
