LEADERSHIP ........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................Meeting Room 104Challenging Convention: Using Successful Innovations to Think Differently (W) The model of disruptive innovation describes how certain types of new business models emerge and transform entire industries. Successful disruptions follow a well-defined pattern, and from this we can extract principles to guide the development of solutions that are both innovative and effective. This session will offer powerful – and practical – techniques for applying these principles to be more innovative in our business and for tackling the most challenging leadership problems. Together we will explore how to reframe business challenges in ways that enable you to get beyond conventional ways of thinking, and how to quickly develop a broad range of innovative ideas to address them. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage as a group and take The Challenge to push your leadership comfort zone and identify concrete takeaways to implement and make disruptive positive changes for yourselves, your team and your bottom line.

Speaker: David Duncan, senior partner, InnosightHoSt: Oneeka Williams, MD, top-ranked United States urologic surgeon and children’s book author @droneeka

LEADERSHIP ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Ballroom WThe Courage to Innovate: Unlocking the Skills to Challenge Convention (POE)We are being asked every day to become more entrepreneurial in how we shape our organizations, businesses, teams and products. Whether you are from a small organization seeking that competitive edge, a large and cumbersome organization looking for a better way to do business or an entrepreneur embarking on a new venture, it takes courage: courage to lead, courage to risk and most importantly, courage to innovate. Your survival depends on your ability to make fresh thinking happen on a daily basis in every nook and cranny of your workplace. Leadership expert Cindy Solomon will explore the barriers that hold businesses back and the six secrets/skills for courageous innovation. This provocative session will feature a mix of entrepreneurs and corporate leaders to share their best practices and lessons learned for innovating within their organizations, product offerings, teams and their own careers. Participants will leave with a renewed spirit of innovation and understand the skills required to work differently and more courageously.

CAREER ADVANCEMENT .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Meeting Room 258Your QUANTUM LEAP: How & Now! (LP)Gloria Mayfield Banks has consistently beaten the odds to achieve phenomenal success in her life and business. She defied dyslexia to earn a college degree and a Harvard MBA, left an abusive marriage and a corporate career at IBM 20 years ago to sell lipstick – quickly ascending to Elite Executive National Sales Director with Mary Kay, Inc. Over her career with Mary Kay, Inc., Banks has broken company sales records including largest personal team, largest unit, and largest national unit; her performance ranks as #3 in the United States and #1 for an African American. Using her firsthand experiences, Gloria will share invaluable lessons that she learned for persevering and 10 specific steps for making a QUANTUM LEAP in life and at work. With a mix of inspiration and practical advice, this session will help you shift your thinking to create different results for you and those you lead. Attendees will walk away ready to break records and set new standards to create the best life for you while always remaining true to who you are.

CAREER ADVANCEMENT .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Meeting Room 210 Burnout: How to Set Boundaries and Frame a Priorities-Based Conversation (POE)You have achieved a certain level of success by your ability to say Yes: Yes, I will work on Saturday. Yes, I will take on more than my share of work. Yes, I will serve on an additional committee in order to help out the team. While saying Yes has put you in a position of influence and being known as a team player, too much Yes could also lead to your demise professionally and personally. When we obligate ourselves to too many projects or aggressive deadlines, we can quickly find ourselves over-committing and under-delivering. The quality of our work suffers because we do not have an unlimited amount of time and energy to dedicate to our obligations. When our work quality suffers, our credibility is affected. Suddenly, our entire quality of life suffers. This interactive panel dis-cussion will explore the power of saying No. Sharing real stories from real women at various stages in their careers, attendees will identify the signs that show you have you’ve hit your limit. Whether you are talking to your boss, client or teammate, this session will offer tools to have a priority-based conversation, push back and say No to avoid burnout, still feel successful and achieve life integration so your personal and professional goals are being met.

Moderator: Paula Davis-Laack, JD, MAPP, resilience and burnout prevention expert and contributor, Huffington Post and Psychology Today @pauladavislaackpanel of expertS: Jane Bowman, vice president, marketing & sales development, The Boston Globe @bowmanjane Kelly McGonigal, PhD, health psychologist and best-selling author, The Upside of Stress @kellymcgonigal Gwen Robinson, managing director, corporate social responsibility and community reinvestment act officer, Santander Bank @santanderbankus Lynn Tinney, vice president, Americas Channels, Riverbed Technology @riverbedHoSt: Laura Vail Wooster, vice president and head of insurance marketing, John Hancock @johnhancockusa

CAREER ADVANCEMENT .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Meeting Room 156Working Simply: Embracing the Power of Your Personal Productivity StyleCarson Tate says our brains often don’t work the way the experts assume. In this session you will discover your individual productivity style through explora-tion of the four major styles – Prioritizer, Planner, Arranger and Visualizer. She will offer invaluable tactics to leverage your personal style instead of fighting it, which makes it much easier to manage your attention span, get more done, tame your inbox, set and reach goals and much more. She will also share how understanding the different styles can improve workplace relationships with bosses, colleagues, and employees.

Speaker: Carson Tate, nationally renowned expert on workplace productivity and author, Working Simply @thecarsontateHoSt: Lauren Shea, director, product development and end user experience, The Boston Globe @bostonglobe

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ Ballroom EMoody Bitches: The Truth About the Drugs You’re Taking, The Sleep You’re Missing, The Sex You’re Not Having, and What’s Really Making You Feel Crazy (W)Women are leaders, breadwinners and caregivers. We’re leaning in so much we’re about to fall over. To take the edge off, many women pop a pill, eat something sugary, have a drink or spend mindless time online. These activities quickly become patterns that take an enormous toll on women’s bodies and natural hormonal balance. According to Dr. Julie Holland, women are made to be moody which is a strength, not a weakness, even though our culture tells us otherwise. This enlightening session will explore:

• Pros and cons of the drugs you’re being offered, as well as some surprising and highly effective, individual, natural therapies that can help you press the reset button in your own bodies and minds;

• How medicating away our natural moods can have devastating consequences for women in many areas of our lives including sex, relationships, sleep, eating, focus, balance, and aging; and

• Natural moods and fluctuations of a woman’s body and how when used properly, moodiness is power that can be used to create a better and more balanced life at every stage.

TRANSITIONS ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Ballroom WJuicy Living, Juicy Aging: Advice to Thrive and Not Just Survive 50+ (W)The cyclical nature of women’s lives means that we are constantly going through a series of transitions physically and mentally. Yet while Americans now live stronger and healthier lives, and more and more women are embracing transition, aging still carries a negative connotation. Our culture is constantly pro-moting anti-aging products and cosmetic procedures to present the possibility of looking youthful in order to feel good about ourselves. Why do we need to look young to feel good? Why not learn to embrace who we are, even the physical imperfections? Rather than focusing on the appearance aspect of aging, this session will explore how daily doses of fun can improve brain functioning and memory, boost physical and emotional health and enhance social connection – all of which allow us to enjoy life at any age. Participants will walk away from this session with a lot of laughs and also practical takeaways for a light-hearted approach to remain youthful in mind/body and spirit and to tackle the 50+ transition by thriving and not just surviving.

Finding Inspiration from Entrepreneurs Who Do the Most with the Least .................................................................................................................................... Meeting Room 156For as long as she could remember, Jessica Jackley, cofounder of the revolutionary online micro-lending site Kiva, had a singular and urgent ambition: to help alleviate global poverty. While in her twenties, she set off for Africa to finally meet the people she had long dreamed of helping. The insights of those she met changed her understanding. Today she believes that many of the most inspiring entrepreneurs in the world are not focused on high-tech ventures or making a lot of money. Instead, they wake up every day and build better lives for themselves, their families and their communities, regardless of the things they lack or the obstacles they encounter. Jackley will explore how you can embrace entrepreneurship as a powerful force for change in the world. She will share her own story of founding Kiva with little more than a laptop and a dream, and the stories and lessons she has learned from those across the globe who are doing the most with the least. In this session, she will motivate everyone to more deeply appreciate the incredible entrepreneurial potential that exists in every human being on this planet – especially themselves – even in a traditional career. Together we will learn how to use our inner entrepreneur to create positive change in work and in life.
