SWIMMING POOL PROJECT: Lights, Plantroom, Action! If you have paid a visit the Gnowangerup Sporting Complex recently and peered through the fence, you will have noticed a great deal of work un-derway. Despite the abundance of rain received throughout January and February and the associated minor damage caused, the project timeline is on target for an April 2016 completion date. Over the past few weeks the most notable changes to the site include the
completion of the backfill around the pools, the installation of ground filtration pipework by local plumber Trent Davis and the installation of the grand “shed” (soon be fitted out as the kiosk/first aid room, storage space and plantroom) by local business Auspan. By the first week in March the cladding to the plantroom will be complete, in time for the header tiling to the pools to commence on March 8. Recently, the Gnowangerup Swimming Pool Advisory Group was faced with the difficult design decision re-garding the concourse, which will cover the area in-between and around the pools. A very informed and ex-citing decision has finally been made by the committee for a coloured concrete, finished with a randomised stencil pattern which will commence mid-March also. The formation and grading of the new access road and carpark will commence on the 22nd March. The road to the pool will follow a similar path to the existing road; however will extend towards the south to allow for the new facility. It will be finished with a new car park, situated between the entry to the swimming pool and the Hockey/Tennis Courts. The month of March will also see the cladding to the first aid office and universal access toilet located on the pool deck, fabrication of the main access gates, fit off of the filtration equipment and the installation of lane rope anchors, false start sleeves and other pool accessories. Lastly, for those very patient hockey /tennis play-ers and residents of Richardson Street, Western Power will be onsite to upgrade the main switchboard and connect the turf lights next week. A big thank you to Gavin Beeck for the donation of the generator over the past 18 months!
