• Some private hospitals give discount - 30% (60 Years)
• Govt. hospitals give treatment free of cost - (60 years)
• Banks give extra interest - ½ % (60 Years)
• High court will give priority hearing (65 Years)
• Maharashtra professional tax - 100% (65 years)
• M. T. N. L. - 25% discount on monthly rentals (65 years)
• Railways have separate queue for senior citizens
• Income tax relief
• Old age home- admission free or at nominal cost.
How to apply online? . https://aaplesarkar.maharashtra.gov.in/en/
1) click on login or create new user account. Once it
created, log in using username and password.
Window will appear
2) Then search for Revenue Department and click on
it. Then click on Senior Citizen Certificate
3) Then fill necessary information required like Name of
husband, District name, Taluka name. A window will
appear this will be an application form. Fill it carefully
and click on submit
4) Then window will appear which shall ask you to
upload the passport size photograph and all required
document
5) Click on upload documents
6) Post click on submit the window will appear which will
ask you for payment then select proper payment
option, make payment and submit
7) Then after 5 to 6 or 20 days you can download soft
copy of senior citizen certificate

• Biggest challenge for senior citizens is technology. • Rationalisation of documents doesn’t suffice especially
for senior citizens and hence its hard to fulfill requirement for them.
• Many old age people don’t have age proof. Some are unaware of birth dates as well.
• Required resident proof cant be accessible for destitute senior citizens.
• No dedicated system made for directing/helping them. • Real time for procuring certificate lengthens in order to
fulfill all required documents and procedures.
Challenges/loopholes:
Way ahead:
• Dedicated help desk should be created at local level viz.,tehsildar office.
• Onus of identifying them and verifying their address should be on local police.
• Tehsildar/collector office/local police can itself identify the beneficiaries creating dedicated team including medical persons to find physiological age doing house to house survey and helping them with necessary procedures.
• Creating awareness through campaigns ,advertisements, gram sabha,radio,etc.
