Thank you for picking

up this booklet...

1Welcome to St Luke’s Hospice 2013 Open Gardens booklet. This year we invite you to explore 25 varied gardens across Devon and Cornwall. With many new additions, and a few old favourites, we hope you will enjoy this diverse selection of beautiful gardens. Many are not normally open to the public and so offer a unique and private insight into garden planning and planting schemes. This is an enjoyable yet vital way for our supporters to raise much needed funds for our hospice. We hope you will tell your family and friends about the scheme and encourage them to support us throughout the summer of 2013. Our garden community is growing year after year with some very experienced garden owners keen to be on board. To all garden owners and visitors we would like to say a big thank you for making this scheme so popular and successful.

St Luke’s Hospice is a registered charity that relies heavily on charitable giving. St Luke’s provides free specialist palliative care for more than 3,500 patients every year. Government funding is limited so we must raise at least £4.5 million each year. Your support is invaluable, thank you.

Welcome to the Open Gardens 2013

Turn to page 20 for our exciting new

community event

Please take care when you visit any of the gardens. Safety in the garden is paramount. Wear sensible footwear. Please take care around any water features and steps. Some gardens may pose a problem for those who have difficulty with slopes and steps. Please always supervise children and dogs at all times. You do have a duty of care for your own safety and that of any child/children in your care and please ensure that they are in your sight at all times. Please note that some gardens may not be suitable for children. Car parking at all gardens is at your own risk. Please remember that most gardens are private property, they are open through the generosity and enthusiasm of their owners and have not been designed for the visiting public. When requested, please stay on the marked paths, avoid hazards, and take care to avoid damaging plants. Disclaimer: While every endeavour is made to ensure that all the details featured in this programme are true and correct at time of going to print, we do not take any responsibility for any changes, which may occur due to circumstances beyond our control. Thank you for your cooperation and enjoy your visit!

Please be a ‘safe visitor’
