Opening Hours
Monday – Thursday: 8.30 am – 4.30 pm
Friday: 8.30 am – 3.30 pm
The Library is a whole-school resource and is open for use by all
students and members of staff.
The Library can be used by Sixth Form students throughout the day during their study periods, and is open to all students at break, lunch time and after school.
6th form students using the Library during study periods.
The school Library has over 13,000 books, including fiction, non-fiction and reference books. There is also a small Local Studies Collection and Staff Development Section. It is intended that the Library should include some multi-media resources in the future, and magazines for use in Foreign language learning.
The Library has many functions:

• Reading
The new beanbags have proved to be very popular especially for reading in comfort!
• Studying
•Computer use
•Junior Reading
Club
• Lunch time study sessions and class visits
Library Helpers:
The Librarian encourages students to help in the Library and at present there are 8 1st – 3rd form Junior Library
Assistants, and 7 6th Form Librarians.
•6th form librarians – Deal with issues and returns at
the Library desk
• Junior Library Assistants – Help with shelving,
labelling books and other practical tasks.
Author Visit
• The Belfast based author Sarah Wray is visiting the school on Friday 30th January and will talk to the whole of the 1st form and the
Junior Reading Club.
• Her first book The Forbidden Room, which won the national Wow Factor award in 2007,
has been read and enjoyed by the Junior Reading Club, and her latest book, The Trap,
is proving to be just as popular.
