1. Introduction It is important that all persons who are working or maintaining this machine read the manual carefully and understand it fully. Keep this manual near the machine, so it can always be consulted.

Only authorized and trained personnel may operate this machine.

2. Machine description The Blastrac BGS-250 grinding machine is ideally suited for small and medium sized applications. The machine has a rotating adaptor plate where a diamond disc can be fixed on. The rotating parts are covered by a protection cap with a connection for a dust hose. With a suitable Blastrac dust collector you can work in a virtually dust free environment.

Main assets of BGS-250: - Electrical driven machine that runs on 110v - User and environmentally friendly; very low noise level, easy to operate and low vibrations. - Adjustable handle position. - Shock absorbing handles.

- Upper handle folds down for ease transportation in confined spaces. - Heavy duty equipment, which is almost maintenance free. - Cord wraps for reduction in trip hazards. - Lifting handle in front of machine.

3. Safety It is important that all persons who are working with or maintaining machine read the manual carefully and understand it fully. Keep this manual with machine, to refer to at any time. Safety precautions

Persons who are not operating the machine must not be permitted in the surrounding area of machine. The surface to be treated must be swept clean to remove stone, screws, etc. Make sure that there are no cables or hoses in the driving direction of the machine. Remove any

trailing electrical cables or hoses from the surface to be treated to avoid the risk of tripping. Make sure there is no standing water on the surface to be treated. Do not get distracted during operation.

Always use a dust collector when operating. Safety regulations

Do not change anything on the machine. Always use cables which are approved and grounded, including extension cables. The machine is always equipped with a grounded connection, do not

change and always use grounded cables with a grounded plug. Connect the main power supply cable to an installation with a grounded leakage circuit breaker. Inspect and test the electrical components regularly. The electrical components have to satisfy the

requirements which apply to these components. Always call a skilled electrician or your distributor when you have questions about the safety of the

electrical components.

Work on electrical equipment or operating materials may only be undertaken by a skilled electrician or by trained persons under the guidance and supervision of a skilled electrician as well as in accordance with the electrical engineering regulations.

Disconnect the main plug during inspection, maintenance, disc change and/or repairing the machine. Never use machine in rain. Machine contains rotating parts, so always leave the diamond disc on the floor while the motor is

turning.

The following sticker is placed on the machine.

Meanings of these symbols are:

Ear protection is obliged Safety glasses with lateral protection are obliged CE-mark on this machine Safety shoes obliged Consult the manual before operating the machine

Personnel must tie back long hair and not wear loose clothing or jewellery including rings.

Wear gloves and dust mask during operation of machine. Safety instructions

Disconnect main plug during inspections and repairing machine. Keep machine original, only use original Blastrac parts.

Do not pull out the power supply cable by the wire, use the connector to unplug.

4. Initial operation Before using the machine it is committed to inspect the machine. It is not permitted to use machine if machine does not meet safety standards according to the check points below.

Check points for electrical safety

Use only extension cables for extending the main cable that are sized and marked in accordance with

the overall power consumption of the machine.

Any damage to electrical cables is not permitted.

Electrical cords must be rolled entirely of the reels. Use an electrical power supply connection with a grounded connection. Be careful of water on treated surface. Electrical cables must not come into contact with water.

Checkpoints for machine safety

The safety functions and operating functions work correctly. The flexible coupling is not damaged or deformed. The diamond disc is not damaged. There are no damages on the electrical components. There are not any loose fasteners.

There is no damage to the dust hose and it is connected well.

Removing diamond disc

Disconnect machine from power before proceeding. Fold the upper frame by loosening the handle adjustment levers. When it is adjusted onto the stops,

then re-tighten the handle adjustment levers. Fold the machine onto its back. Make sure it is setting on a flat surface so that it will not fall over. Loosen the four bolts with the appropriate Allen key. Remove the diamond or multiflail disc.

Mounting diamond disc

Disconnect machine from power before proceeding. Fold the upper frame by loosening the handle adjustment levers. When it is adjusted onto the stops,

re-tighten the handle adjustment levers. Fold the machine onto its back. Make sure it is setting on a flat surface so that it will not fall over.

Fix the diamond or multiflail disc underneath the adaptor plate and install the four bolts then tighten with the appropriate HEX key wrench.

5. Operating

During operation of the BGS-250, the following additional safety instructions must be followed closely. Switch on the BGS-250

Connect the dust hose with the machine. Turn on the dust collector before switching on the machine. Stand behind the machine. Take the steering handle (1) with one hand and push the start button (2) with other hand. Verify the machine motor is rotating. Start grinding in the pattern shown below.

Switch off the BGS-250

Push the red button on the electrical box (3). Wait for the machine to stop rotating. Disconnect the main power supply. Turn off the dust collector.

6. MaintenanceWork only with original Blastrac parts.

Check regularly to see if the diamond disc is in good condition. Replace the diamond disc immediately when it becomes damaged or worn. Check if the flexible coupling is stiff enough after each day of work. Replace any deformation and/or damage if found. Unusual vibrations on the machine can be caused by the flexible coupling and the diamond disc, check immediately if this occurs.

Replacing the flexible coupling:

Push in the red stop button Pull out the main electrical plug Remove the diamond disc Remove the dust shroud Loosen the bolts of the adaptor plate and

the flexible coupling Install the new flexible coupler

Reinstall the dust shroud

Prevent premature wear by keeping the machine as dust free as possible. Clean the machine with a dust collector as needed though the day.

Clean the machine every day with air and non-

aggressive materials. Never use high pressure water to clean machine or damage to the electrical system may occur.

Remove the diamond disc after using the machine.

Store the cleaned machine in a dry humid free room. Protect the electrical motor from moisture, heat, dust and shocks.

All repair work should be done by qualified Blastrac personnel only, this will guarantee a safe and reliable machine.

Any warranty on this machine will be void if: Non Blastrac parts/diamond discs are used

Repair work is done by non Blastracpersonnel

Modification of machine in any way without

written permission of Blastrac.
