Framing the Vision
4
Framing the VisionOur Parish (the one that we are to become) is
well-positioned to prepare our next generation of Catholics to be strong and alive in their faith.
• Older Catholics can continue their prayerful and temporal gifts in their unique roles in ministry but need to adapt them by inviting, communicating and relating to younger Catholics effectively.
• We need to pray and live the words, “Raise up selfless, energetic leaders to serve the Church in fidelity and with care.”
5
Framing the VisionOur Parish (the one that we are to become) is
well-positioned to prepare our next generation of Catholics to be strong and alive in their faith.
• We can be comforted that we do not always see the immediate fruits of our labors, but always trust that the seeds planted by our efforts for others are nourished by God’s grace in time.
• Younger Catholics identify less with churches as bricks and mortar as much as older Catholics had been encouraged to do so. Therefore, they are ready to receive a sense of church community, that is our parish, in a kind of worship apprenticeship, mentoring, and discipling that faithful Catholics today can provide.
6
Difference Between Parish and Church
Churches are sacred buildings designated for divine worship.
A parish is a territory (geographic region), with people and a priest(s).
In July 2020 our 5 parishes will merge into one new parish. The current parishes will cease and we will become one new entity.
