1.0 PURPOSE This guide will go over the basics of using Oracle Discoverer 11g Viewer, including logging in, opening a workbook, and exporting a report.
2.0 LOGGING INTO DISCOVERER VIEWER You can access Oracle Discoverer 11g Viewer through this website URL:
http://discoverer.pfizer.com:8090/discoverer/viewer

3.0 OPENING WORKBOOKS After logging in Discoverer 11g Viewer, you will see the List of all Workbooks visible to you. Use the search field to focus criteria or use the [All Workbooks] option. Click [Go].
The search on [All Workbooks] will yield a list similar to the below.

4.0 NAVIGATING WORKBOOKS / REPORTS There are multiple ways to view Workbooks / Reports using expand/collapse options.
The Expand All hyperlink will expand each Workbook.

The Collapse All hyperlink will collapse the Workbook Tree.
Use the +Arrow to expand the Workbook Tree or use the Expand All hyperlink to expand the Workbook Tree with Reports. Each Workbook level has an option to Collapse (-Arrow) or Expand (+Arrow) as shown below.
Workbooks are in alphabetical order.

There are two buttons that can be used to expand a workbook. Either button below will expand a Workbook:
The OPD – Study Conduct Reports Workbook has been expanded using the +Arrow. Once expanded you can see the Reports. Notice the Study Parameter hyperlink; this will be discussed further

Most workbooks require the Study Parameter value to be entered prior to running the other listings
The study parameter optimizes the report execution Some other reports contain other Parameters, like Site, Patient, Start/End Dates etc. If a parameter contains the “%” symbol, it means that all results for that parameter will be
retrieved. You can leave as is or you can add the filter for your selection. All fields should be completed, either with a parameter or with the ‘%’ symbol No NULL values are accepted
After entering the parameters, click on [Go].
Please Note: The study parameter may be populated with the last study entered by you or another user. Type over the study name if it is not the one required.
Remember to use single quotes
Once the study parameter is entered, click on the desired report on the left and enter any other parameters needed

Once a report hyperlink is invoked, the parameter pop-up will appear. Fill-in the parameter criteria and click [Go]. Please note: Dates must be in dd-MMM-yyyy format (eg. 01-JAN-2000).
The next couple of screens show the report execution process.
When a report is executed, the system will automatically try to calculate the execution time. This is an estimate only; the actual time may be more or less than the estimate.

[Refresh] the run

Please Note: If the query takes more time than your query governor allows the following pop-up appears. You need to click [No] to cancel and [Yes] to continue.
The same No/Yes options appear if you click the [Refresh] button.
The output (Table) is displayed once the query is complete

If there is no output for the report the system will display a message indicating there is no data available.
Use the Actions section on the upper left hand side of the form to export the Table.

5.0 EXPORTING LISTINGS A listing can be exported by clicking on the left menu Export hyperlink.
Use the drop down for ‘Choose export type’ to choose the format file type desired for the exported file and click the Export hyperlink.
Note that Microsoft Excel 97-2003 version does not support files with more than 65K rows. If a listing contains more than that, it must be exported as Tab delimited (*.txt) format to insure all records will be saved.

Click on [Click to view or save] to save the output.

Choose a location on the computer to save the report.
Once the file export is completed, return to the worksheet to run a report for another study or choose another report, or log off Discoverer 11g Viewer by clicking ‘Exit’.

6.0 SETTING YOUR PREFERENCES / TROUBLE-SHOOTING
The query warning message appears if the time exceeds the limit set in your preferences
The preferences hyperlink contains ‘query governor’ parameters
These parameters may cause issues executing a report if they are set too low
To trouble-shoot report execution errors, review / reset preferences by clicking on the preferences hyperlink (generally at the top or bottom of the page depending on the form
Increasing the time for the first two and the data row limit for the third field will allow more time for report execution time and data to be displayed. Increasing these fields will also reset the query warning pop-up to the new limits.
Once the limits are increased, click [Apply]
The [Cancel] / [Apply] options are to the far right hand side of the form.
