This is an opportunity to learn details of this year’s walk, get you and your team registered to participate, hear about the fundraising goals and get updates on how the American Cancer Society is making progress on finishing the fight against Breast Cancer. It is also a great time to connect with the Orlando Strides group of staff and volunteers committed to making this walk outstanding and learn about volunteer opportunities open to help before and on the day of the walk. Officially, Kick-Off drives our fundraising activities into high gear for the big Orlando Strides Fundraising walk on October 31, 2015. Teams and individuals are encouraged to attend this fun and informative event hosted at our Pink Premier sponsor—Lexus of Orlando’s facility in Winter Park on August 27th starting at 5:30 p.m. See the invitation below. Whether you have “Strided” for years or are a first time participant, there is something that will benefit everyone who attends Kick-Off. Food, refreshments, entertainment are provided. Volunteer OpportunitiesIf you or someone you know is interested in volunteering at the 2015 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Fundraising 5K Walk please contact us as soon as possible. We need 1000 volunteers and their helping hands this October 31st at Lake Eola in Downtown Orlando to assist in any number of ways.
We have many opportunities for teens and adults to help in “Finishing the Fight” against Breast Cancer. Students earn community service hours too. Please contact Christy Clelland at 407-581-2529 or [email protected].

Where the Money GoesDoes all the money I raise through the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event go to fight breast cancer? Are my donations restricted to breast cancer, or are they used for other purposes?All funds raised through Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events are restricted to support the American Cancer Society’s fight to end breast cancer. Specifically, these dollars are used to make a difference in the following ways:
• Investing in research to better understand, prevent, find, and treat the disease.
• Providing free, comprehensive information and support to those touched by breast cancer—when and where they need it—including transportation, lodging, wigs, and one-on-one support.
• Helping people take steps to reduce their breast cancer risk or find it early when it’s most treatable.
Since the walk was founded in 1993, more than 11 million Making Strides supporters have raised more than $685 million to help finish the fight against breast cancer. In 2014 alone, more than one million walkers across the country raised more than $60 million to help us save more lives from breast cancer.
