St Mary s Churc h News Churchyard T re ework Weve had a large branch break off the sycamore tree at the Church Street/ The Green corner (glad somebody noced, Simon!). We will be carrying out more tree work, parcularly as the sycamore has a significant amount of decay in the trunk which may require it felling. As usual, we are indebted to Will Gunn for organising the dismantling of the very large branch overhanging the green…….. The L eani ng Tower of Orst on The tower remains at 3.2 degrees due to the weer weather and we will connue to monitor the situaon. The new Heritage Loery Fund schemes appear now to be in place, so we are looking to put together a new bid over the next few months – any further offers of help will be greatly appreciated! Graveyard All of the gravestones now appear to be stable, but we will connue to monitor them. Recruitment of new vicar Shortlisng is due to take place on 25th February with interviews on 18th March. Churchyard Treework We’ve had a large branch break off the sycamore tree at the Church Street/The Green corner (glad somebody noticed, Simon!). We will be carrying out more tree work, particularly as the sycamore has a significant amount of decay in the trunk which may require it felling. As usual, we are indebted to Will Gunn for organising the dismantling of the very large branch overhanging the green……..

The Leaning Tower of Orston The tower remains at 3.2 degrees due to the wetter weather and we will continue to monitor the situation. The new Heritage Lottery Fund schemes appear now to be in place, so

we are looking to put together a new bid over the next few months – any further offers of help will be greatly appreciated!

Graveyard All of the gravestones now appear to be stable, but we will continue to monitor them.

Over eighty people turned up on January 19th to enjoy a night of premium French wines, excellent company, great music and fine cooking. Regardless of Brexit, the event continues the tradition of euro successes such as the German Wine Tasting Evening, the Scottish Burns Night and the Spanish Tapas Night.

Many thanks once again to all those who do the “heavy lifting” to make these happenings work…including Jules Humpheson, Traci and Andrew Rossington, Jeanette Hoole, Wendy Richardson, and Elaine Parry to name but some…
