EMV is today well known by issuers. However, if reasons for adopting EMV and issuing EMV cards are easy to understand (increased security, better risk management, interoperability…), introduction of an EMV card remains complex and can be time consuming without prior knowledge. This is the reason why Oberthur Technologies

proposes the EMV-In-A-Box offer which allows a smooth and fast issuance of EMV cards.Primarily dedicated to issuers willing to migrate from magnetic stripe cards to EMV chip cards, EMV-In-A-Box also addresses issuers willing to extend their portfolio with new products, such as domestic/private label card, dual interface

EMV cards or new form factors such as EMV stickers. Mobile operators are interacting with end-users at the time of subscription activation. They can give the choice of phone numbers to the consumers, offer innovative or selected tariff plan, promotions and gather valuable marketing information.

EMV-In-A-Box is a fully integrated EMV Migration Solution and Management Programme based on best practices gained by Oberthur Technologies’ involvement on hundreds of EMV projects worldwide. Our EMV teams leverage this expertise and adapt it to the technological framework and project criteria of the issuer.

THE OFFER INCLUDES:

• Training and consulting

• Help to select the best applications and profiles

• Personalisation services from one of the 30+ Oberthur Technologies service centres

• Cards artwork services

• Sample cards available 12 weeks after the project starts

OUR PORTFOLIO COVERS ALL INTERNATIONAL AND

NEUTRAL WAY

WHAT´S IN THE BOX

EMV specifications as issued by EMVCo or by Schemes (American Express, JCB, MasterCard and Visa) allow issuers to choose between a large number of parameters. EMV specifications offer ability to run transaction online or offline, in contact or contactless mode. Those features can be applied to Debit, Credit or Prepaid cards following rules emitted by Schemes.

MAKE THE MOST OF EMV MIGRATIONMIGRATE SMOOTHLY THANKS TO TURNKEY SOLUTIONS

USE CASEFROM CONTACT

TO DUAL INTERFACE

In Europe region, Issuer’ strategy was to promote dual interface card to their cardholders.

Thanks to EMV-In-A-Box, Oberthur Technologies provided different sets of profiles on cards that were tested by the customer. In addition, the project definition allowed the launch of multi-application cards with payment and transport applications. Following this EMV-In-A-Box project, the issuer’s portfolio includes now dual-interface multi-application cards proposed in prepaid, debit and credit flavours.

USE CASELAUNCH

OF ACPA CARD

In MEA region, a national bank wanted to enhance security for national payment without using schemes defined applications.

Through EMV-In-A-Box, Oberthur Technologies was able to advise them and then deliver CPA based cards following all customer’s requirements.

USE CASEEMV FOR

TRAVELLERSIN THE USA

US Issuers had to manage payment acceptance problems encountered by their cardholders when travelling in Europe. Their requirements were to be able to serve their customers with EMV cards that would be accepted in Europe where EMV has been massively adopted.

With EMV-In-A-Box, Oberthur Technologies helped those issuers to rapidly answer their customers’ need. Specific profiles have been defined allowing cardholders to pay with an EMV card where their magnetic stripe card was previously rejected.
