The New and Improved Baseball Program
I sat down with Coach Brockhouse and asked him a few questions about the baseball team. I asked him what is his main goal for being a base-ball coach. His answer was “To build a better program that fosters to the de-velopment of young men.” The baseball team is living on higher expecta-tions after last year from winning the first regional championship in West Central history. The baseball team has been able to collect money from resources and
I asked Coach Brockhouse what the baseball team is getting for this upcom-
ing season. “The baseball team will start out the season in new uniforms hav-
ing two uniforms this year instead of just one.” The baseball team has a two
year plan in effect to get a brand new backstop and they will be selling pastry
puffins at the end of November to help fundraise for the incoming backstop.
People are anxious to see what the outcome of the baseball team will be this
upcoming season.

Life of a Working High School Student
Working as a high school student has
its pros and cons. I am a working high
school student and have been for three
years. I honestly love working and go-
ing to school. It has taught me to grow
up and be a more responsible student.
Working also adds a lot of extra stress
and for the people that already strug-
gle with doing their homework, then
maybe a job it not for them at this
time. I am also very tired most of the
time because when I get home from
work I have to finish homework, eat,
and shower. Having a job at a younger
age has taught me discipline as well. It
also makes me feel good to have my
own money instead of asking my par-
ents for money all of the time. This
teaches me to manage my money
closely. If I do not have the money for
gas or to do extra fun things I just do
not do it. I do not like asking my par-
ents for money. My parents did not
make me get a job as a sophomore I
did it on my own. I recommend every
student getting a job in high school
because of how much it has helped me
grow up.

Co-Op
The Co-op Program is a
great program for students
in high school who are
looking for a job. Co-op is
where you go to school for
4 class hours a day and
then leave for work. In this
class you have to have 20
hours a week. We log our
hours as well as our pay
we receive for the job. I do
Co-op at The Firehouse
with my mom. Everyday I
go to school for 4 class
hours and then I go to
work. I do different stuff
everyday. I do paper-
work,waitress, cook and
anything else my mom
needs me to do. Every Co-
op students’ last hour of
the day is Co-op class.
The class is taught by Jen-
nifer Sellars. We learn
something knew everyday.
She has taught us a lot
about having/ keeping a
job, how to apply for jobs,
how to work with others,
etc. If a student wants to
join Co-op you have to
take Co-op class Junior
year. To get in Co-op your
Senior year you have to
pass the class Junior year.
After your Junior year you
have to have a job by the
upcoming school year. If
you have trouble finding a
job then Mrs.Sellars will
help you get one. Co-op is
a good program for people
who work hard and actual-
ly want a job. I would high-
ly recommend joining Co-
op. By Paige Timmerman
Teacher Interview
I did my teacher interview on Mr.
Ebbing, as you guys know this is his
3rd year teaching physical educa-
tion at Winchester High School, but
he is also the head football coach.
Prior to coming to teach here he
taught P.E at Camp Point Central
for three years. I started my inter-
view off with the question ‘Why do
you like teaching?’ Mr. Ebbing re-
sponded with ‘I always have had an
enjoyment for physical education.”
He also said he liked games, work-
ing out and working with kids. I did
my interview last week during our
homecoming week so I asked him ‘
During his high school years?’ He
responded with ‘’Went to football
practice and kept up on his home-
work.” His favorite thing in school
was history and even for a while he
was going to go into getting a de-
gree in history. I asked him what his
personal achievement was and his
was watching his kid grow up.
Black of course is his favorite color.
I asked him who was his best friend
and he responded with “His wife.’’
Mr. Ebbing loves consistency, that's
why he didn't dress up for home-
coming week, and why he always
wears about the same outfit every
day. He wants one more kid. I asked
him on a scale of one to ten how
much does he love the Pritchett
building, and he said “11”. He re-
ceived his undergraduate degree
from ISU and his graduate degree
from Emporia State University, in
which he does say he would go back
to college but not high school. He
used to hunt, but now he has no
time. His favorite movie is Pursuit
of Happiness His favorite restaurant
is wherever his wife wants to go.
HARAMBE
By: Andrew Armstrong
Harambe was a peaceful gorilla that lived in the Cincinnati Zoo. He was a 17 year-old silverback gorilla. On May 28th, 2016 a three year-old boy happened to fall or climb into the enclosure of Harambe. It’s said that out of cu-riosity the gorilla went over to the child to investigate what it was that fell into his enclosure. Ha-rambe, the gorilla, ended up grabbing the child by his leg and dragging him through the water that was flowing through the en-closure. After Harambe drug the child through the water multiple times, he took the child up the hill in his enclosure and cradled him as though he was his own child. A zoo handler then got one of the lethal rifles on hand at the zoo for times like this, incase there’s a situation like that. Ha-rambe was shot and killed once an open shot was available that wouldn’t harm the child. A lot of people think that it was wrong for the zookeeper to kill Harambe, that the zookeeper should’ve tranquilized Harambe. The zookeepers thought that it wouldn’t have been a good reac-tion of the gorilla or, for the child. Even though Harambe is gone everyone will remember him. R.I.P Harambe!
I decided to tell you about Harambe be-
cause it’s a popular topic that people are
talking about at this point in time in America.
It was an interesting topic to me, I thought
that it would be something that
would catch the attention of oth-

Car Wrecks (Cont.)
Car wrecks like this can be
dangerous for the people in-
side especially for the driver.
Air bags can also be a prob-
lem for kids sitting in the
front seat who are not old
enough or weigh enough to
be sitting in the front seat in
the first place. An airbag
could hurt someone like
bruises or suffocate someone
who is small.
Car wrecks can be caused from a number of things. Car wrecks can happen when a driver is dis-tracted, intoxicated, texting or on the phone, and swerving or go-ing too fast. Car wrecks are dan-gerous, but every time a wreck does happen it doesn't always mean someone can be hurt or die. The chances of not getting hurt are small. There have been a lot of crashes where people crash and roll their vehicle but not get se-riously hurt.
Some things that can cause a crash are hydroplaning, loose gravel can pull someone off the road if they are going too fast. Some one could go too fast and drive over something and lose control of the vehicle. Some other things are distracted driv-ing, running red lights or stop signs, weather conditions, road rage and tailgating someone and then they end up stopping

Deer Stand Alignment
BY: Tyler Hallas
There are many things that
you have to take into consid-
eration when deer hunting.
One main thing is where you
sit while trying to kill a deer.
First you have to find out
where the most deer move-
ment is. Then you have to
make sure that where you set
the stand up at that the wind
movement is just right if you
want to sit there. Because if
you go to sit in a stand and it
blows your sent towards a
deer trail the deer are most
likely to smell you. And it all
depends if you are going to sit
in a hang on stand, a ladder
stand, or a climber stand. A
hang on stand hangs off the
side of a tree. A ladder stand
has a ladder that is attached to
the platform. And a climber
stand you set up at the base of
the tree it's a two piece set and
you have to shimmy your way
up a tree. If you're near a field
deer love to go out there and
eat in the evening. But if you
want a stand for mornings i
would recommend setting up
near a creek or deer trail in a
timber. Always look for
scraps and holes that buck dig
up. So as you can see there are
plenty of thing to take into
consideration when finding a
spot to set up a deer stand.
Clydesdale Horses By: Kelsey Newton
The history of Clydesdale horses is amazing, the size of a Clydesdale horse is over 18 hands and about 6 feet, There are feathers above the hooves, and they can grow over 2,000 pounds while having a high with-er. The history of the Clydesdale horse is quite interesting being named from a region in Scotland these horses have trav-eled around the world to be known and loved by everyone. There is a population estimated of over 5,000 and growing with an estimate of 600
foals a year that are born. The history of the Clydesdales dates back to 300 years. It is said that the Clydes-dale horse is one of the strongest horses mak-ing them
