PROCLAIM THE GOSPEL
Today we celebrate one of the tenets of our creed: that the Lord ascended into heaven. From Mark’s Gospel we hear the final words Jesus spoke to his disciples shortly before he ascended into heaven. Those were words of commissioning, no less real for us today than they were to the disciples then. We are called to “proclaim the gospel to every creature.” For the vast majority of us, this means that we proclaim the gospel by the witness of our everyday lives. Treating others with dignity and respect, providing for those less fortunate than ourselves, being good stewards of the many gifts showered on us, coming together as God’s family in worship and praise—these are all signs that the gospel has taken root in our lives.

COMMUNICATION – Help Us
Connect the World with God’s
Word! If Jesus Chr ist were on earth today, how would he spread his message? The Catholic Communication Campaign (CCC) believes Jesus would use every means available, so it makes use of media outlets to evangelize and promote gospel values. You can truly make a difference right here in our diocese through your donation to today’s collection. Fifty percent of funds collected will remain in our diocese to support our local communication efforts. Shepherd Field Olive Wood Handcrafts
The Shepherds Field Olive Wood Handcrafts mission is honored to visit Our Divine Savior Parish this weekend. The ongoing political situation has not improved and is getting worse these days. Therefore we would like to continue helping and supporting the Catholic families of the Holy Land. Without your help and support, we cannot accomplish our mission.
Marriage Encounter
Today is Ascension Sunday and we are reminded that Jesus is on his throne. Do we allow him to reign over our lives? One of the ways we show this is by living in humility, gentleness and love in a bond of peace. Do we reflect this in our marriage relationship? Allow Jesus to be Lord of your marriage relationship. The next Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekends are June 5-7 or August 21-23, 2015 for more information contact Deacon James and Stephanie Burkett 893-
2348 or sacramentowwme.org.

Reflections
WE WILL MEET AGAIN : When the living presence of Jesus was taken away from His own, it did not mean they would have less of Jesus. Instead they would have Jesus in a sweeter, more intimate, more divine way. For when our Lord rose up to heaven, He took with Him all their hearts, minds and love. So is it with us. He is gone up to heaven, into the bosom of the Father, into the Father's love, and we ascend up there with Him, resting where He rests. In heaven there is no separation, but one life, one existence, we are one with our Lord as He is one with the Father. And this promised reunion makes every day sweeter. H Suso
Altar Flower Donations If you are remembering a loved one, giving thanks, or celebrating a special occasion, think about a gift of flowers for the altar. What a better way to show your love to those special people in our lives and to the Lord. Envelopes are available on the table at the church entrance, drop a note in the basket
or call Pat Mulholland, 891-8342.
Relief Efforts in Nepal
Our diocesan website: www.scd.org has made available information on how to donate for the relief efforts in Nepal. Catholic Relief Services (CRS) rapidly embarked on a major emergency response and has committed funds to extended relief efforts. Together with Caritas Nepal, they have been working on addressing the most pressing needs such as water, food, shelter and medical care. Parishioners are encouraged to donate and can stay updated regarding the efforts by visiting the CRS website at: www.crs.org.
RCIA Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
Each year a number of adults knock on the doors of our church, asking to be admitted to our communi-ty. Just as Christ embraced all people, we welcome them in our midst. We have an RCIA team that prepares these candidates by teaching them the basics of our faith, but the welcome needs to come from all of us.
We invite you, our Parish community, to help the RCIA team in their mission and make our newcom-ers feel they found a home. Please come to an RCIA Gathering to hear about how you could be part of their effort. There are a number of ways to contribute with varying degrees of time commitments. Our Divine Sav-ior is a vibrant, giving community whose members demonstrate their faith by using their God-given gifts in many, ministries that sustain life in our church. This devotion encourages the RCIA team with hope that you will hear their call.
The meeting will be at the Religious Education Building on Thursday, May 27th at 6:00 pm. If you have any questions, please call the Religious Education Office, 345-6201.

It's time for.....VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL 2015

You can find information online at www.ourdivinesavior.org/faith-formation/vacation-bible-school, in the Parish office, or outside after Mass.
We are in need of adult volunteers to lead our crews of 5 from station to station each day. Please stop at the registration table after Mass or call the Religious Ed office for information and to sign up.
We are also organizing a Decorations Team and need lots of help! No creative abilities are necessary. We need visionaries, busy people with very little time, creative people, and many who just want to help in some way but can't join us June 15-19 (or who can). Truly, we need a mighty team of many to share the work of turning our social hall into a snow-capped majestic mountain. Our VBS will be full of icy colors, craggy tundra, and breath taking views that kids will be excited to explore. Please call the ODS Religious Education office at 345-6201 or come to our next build day in the social hall on Thursday , May 28th at 5:30 PM.

A Graduate's PrayerA Graduate's PrayerA Graduate's PrayerA Graduate's Prayer
Dear Lord, As I look toward the future
Bright hope conducts this prayer, For I know the plans You have for me
Were wrought with divine care. Holy Spirit, lead me.
Let me run at Your command, Yet be still and know that You are God
When trouble is close at hand. Your Word will be a lamp for me,
A guide to light my way, A solid place to set my feet, A compass when I stray.
May I live my life to praise You, Not for fortune, nor for fame, May everything I say and do Bring glory to Your name.
May my eyes stay fixed upon You As I seek the way that's pure,
Tasting Your love and goodness Sleeping and rising secure.
Planted by Your living streams I'll delight in all Your ways,
Hidden by Your sheltering wings With new mercies for each day.
Even in a dangerous land When storms threaten to destroy,
At the cross I'll stand upon the Rock My Strength, my Hope, my Joy.
Dear Lord, show me Your favor, At all times keep me blessed,
May Your face ever shine upon me, With peace and perfect rest.
Amen. --Mary Fairchild

You Can Make a Difference!
We need help at Our Divine Savior. Fortunately, the help we need also comes with amazing graces and full instructions! The Saturday evening Mass in particular, but all the Masses in general, need to add more ministers. There is an acute need for Eucharistic Ministers, lectors, commentators, ushers, and greeters. We often invite new ministers at a Ministry Fair, but this year we are appealing directly to the community through the bulletin.
How much difference do these ministers make? Have you ever been uplifted by the delivery of a reading? Do you recognize the faith of the Eucharistic Minister who gives you the Body or the Blood of Christ at Mass? Are you grateful for the greeter who makes you smile, or the usher who helps with a walker? Each of these people volunteer their time; actually, they dedicate this time in ministry to the call they have received to serve.
Do you suppose they are somehow "holier" than you are? Do you think they are less busy? Do you figure that there isn't a need, since everything runs so smoothly at the weekend Masses?
WE HAVE A NEED. Right now. We are looking for "ordinary" members of the ODS family who are willing to answer God's call to give back to the community in thanksgiving for what we all receive here. Full instruction will be provided. Do you feel inadequate? Everyone does! And yet our God uses each of us according to his will and gives us the strength and skills we need, if we are WILLING to heed his call.
Please pray to discern your place, then to volunteer, either talk to your Mass Coordinator or call the church office, 343-4248, during business hours (M-F, 10-3). As always, we receive more than we give.
